Li'l Klippers

My kids have been seeing Wendy at Lil’ Klippers for seven years and we are always more than pleased with hair cut quality and the overall experience. We love Wendy and the consistency of seeing the same kind, face at each appointment reduced fear when they were very young. This is more of a kid’s salon than a barbershop. It is important that you do make an appointment. more

Though accommodating, I strongly suggest calling ahead to make an appointment. They are currently short staffed, as a result, instead of the usual M-R 9-8pm and S-S 9-5pm, they don't open until 10am on Monday and Tuesdays. I deducted one more star because they didn't leave a notice to communicate this to the patrons. Fees are $17-$21 (kids under 3), $19-$23 (ages 3-7), $21-$25 (8-10). If you only need bangs cut, its only $5. They have wooden seats for the tots in forms of a plane, train, horse and bear. They are located in the Wallingford Center (a converted schoolhouse) across the street from the Wallingford QFC on the intersection of 45th and Wallingford. There is a parking lot available. more

I would recommend this kids salon for toddlers, children and teenagers, but not for babies. Most babies don't have as much hair as our 6 month old did when we visited the salon, so this review would not be relevant to those people. The salon is very cute with airplanes, trains and cars to sit in. There is also a teenage side of the salon (The Edge) with a much darker look to it. Our baby wasn't old enough to sit up in one of the cute seats, so he sat on my lap in a chair on the teenage side of the salon. There was loud music playing on this side. The Haircut: Instead of just spraying water to wet his hair, the stylist sprayed tonic spray, which smelled mediciny and made my baby begin to cry. Next, she combed and combed through his hair without being careful of his cradle cap, so he kept on crying. Next, she texturized his hair. Why does a baby need texturizing? As a result, his hair wasn't as baby soft anymore. Finally, they give you a lock of hair for the first haircut which is a nice idea, except it just looks like a bunch of little scraps picked up off the floor rather than a nice lock of hair to keep in the baby book. more

My sister and her family recently came over to visit and we took my nephew to Lil' Klippers for a hair cut. The stylist did a remarkable job. She was kind and patient with him. The chairs are very cute and kid friendly - rockets and animals make getting a hair cut lots of fun. Very reasonable prices. more

My tater tots (4 yrs. old) have been going to Tete at Li'L Klippers for a couple years now and she is WONDERFUL! She always follows my wishes on how I want their hair cut and the kids absolutely love her (and all the toys they have for them to play with.) They *request* to go get their hair cut! While Tete is our primary stylist, when she was out on maternity leave, Lacey cut their hair a couple times and she did a fine job as well. The salon also offers adult cuts but I can't speak for that end. Bonus - it's in Wallingford Center so you have an excuse to go into the Tin Horse for great shabby chic baby & kid stuff! more
