Licks limited by location 8/25/2009

When we drive out to Excelsior for a day outside of the city we like to top it off with ice cream. We have gone to Licks in the past and thought we'd give it another try - MISTAKE!! Squish in line and sit outside with the car exhaust on Water Street to eat ice cream from somewhere else? \r Another option is Adele's custard but then you're in a parking lot and have to drive to the lake. \r We found the Tonka Trolley right on Lake MTKA in Excelsior and it serves Sebastian Joe's (Best in the TC)? There is nothing that beats watching the boats while eating SB's Pavorotti ice cream. Pros: It's not a franchise Cons: Ice Cream & Ambiance more

Are you kidding me ......! 8/23/2009

I use to go to this place all the time until I tasted the ice cream down the street at the Trolley (I believe it is called Tommys Tonka Trolley), and they have what I taste as the best ice cream I've ever had. Licks ice cream now tastes like grocery ice cream at best. Try the Trolleys Raspberry Choc Chip, and Oreo and then you will know what great creamy ice cream is!!!!! Pros: I use to think this was the best ... Cons: It is grocery store ice cream taste at the best!!! more

Best Ice Cream Licks in Excelsior! 8/22/2009

First time, it was a great place for a cool break from the July 4th heat. Second time was even better than the first time! Third time, I had to get a third scoop to try the sherbert - excellent as well. I gotta go at least once more before I die... Pros: Yummy - Fav Flavors Peppermint Stick and Chocolate Cons: Too Yummy! Cash required. more

Truly a treat! 7/18/2004

The smell of the amazing waffle cones greets you at the door, and the ice cream is great. It's great to grab a cone, and go walk along the shore of Lake Minnetonka at the Excelsior Commons. I reccommend the chocolate raspberry truffle ice cream on a home made waffle cone. Pros: atmosphere, ice cream, friendly service more

Sugar cone, Please! 5/5/2004

This place is the greatest, I wish that it were open all year. They have the best chocolate w/ peanut butter ice cream. I can not think of a better way to enjoy a cone--near the lake! Pros: taste, quality ice cream, near the lake & paths more

Deserves a good licking! 8/8/2002

Home made cones!!! Great ice cream ,out side seating, close to Lake MTKA !! more

Nisswa in the City 8/8/2002

Licks Unlimited looks like it belongs in Nisswa, MN. If you want that up north feeling and some unbelievable ice cream this is the place. Make sure you have your hand scooped ice cream in a homemade WAFFLE cone or cup. My kids call it the cool place. It takes around 35minutes to get there and well worth it. Try the French Silk. For the kids Blue Moon and Pop Rocks. Not sure when they close for the season. Pros: Homemade Waffle cones, Neatly Decorated, Long Lines-Move Fast Cons: Always busy., Not in Maple Grove more
