Best Bike Shop Around!!! 9/2/2008

I love my local bike shop!\r My mom wanted to get me a bike for my birthday, so we went to Bill's Bike shop and one of the mecachanics William was real kind and explained my mom the difference between Wall Mart bikes and the bikes that they sell. My mom and I liked the way he handled the situation and she bough me one of their bikes. They have very big selections of parts and complete bikes. I take my bike there every time it breaks.\r Pros: great service more

Poor selection of products and Very unfriendly! 5/10/2008

I am new to the DFW area.\r \r I went in to check out the store like I do other bike stores in the DFW area.\r \r The owner was very unfriendly and very unprofessional. He was uneasy shaking my hand - go figure!\r Good thing he didn't see the antenna sticking out from my head.\r \r I tried to break the ice but he was more interested in treating his regulars better.\r \r I was planning to buy products worth at least $30.\r Since, I live in Irving now, I thought I would shop local.\r \r I rode my Cannondale touring bike to his store.\r So, he was not unfriendly because I had a cheap bike from a department store.\r \r But given his lack of friendliness, I changed my mind on how much I would spend there.\r Just to be polite, in spite of his lack of manners, I bought stuff worth $4.\r \r I wouldn't go back. Pros: None that I could see Cons: Unfriendly owner, lack of selection of products, seemingly naive mechanic. more

Excellent repair service 4/12/2008

I am not currently a bicycle enthusiast, however as a young boy - some 50 years ago - I rode alot and repaired my own bicycle. In the intervening years the equipment has changed a great deal. Last week my adult son asked me if I could see about fixing his front wheel which had 4 broken spokes and was bent. In my minds eye I probably believed I could do it myself. When I saw the wheel, I decided to seek a professional repair. The bike had been purchased at Bill's a few years ago. I decided to return there for the repair. I called ahead to tell them I was bringing it in and that I was in somewhat of a hurry. When I walked in, the technician was in the middle of a project, but he was kind enough to put that on hold and repair the wheel while I waited. I truly wasn't in that much of a hurry and wouldn't expect that for every repair, but I was pleased. In any unlikely future repair need I would certainly return to Bill's Bikeshop. Pros: Service, parking more

Worst Experience ever 7/8/2007

I have been a runner for a little over three and a half years now. Having grown comfortable running long distances - anywhere from 6 to 15 miles, I thought I would ""kick it up a notch"" and try training for a triathlon. Consequently, I looked for an inexpensive starter road bike that would get me acclimatized to the rigors of triathlon training. I went ahead and purchased a road bike from Walmart which, for my purposes, served me quite well. \r In the course of riding I got a flat tire and having recently moved to Irving, found (on the internet) that the nearest repair shop was Bills bicycle Shop. I telephoned them on a Saturday, spoke with someone on the phone who agreed to repair my flat tire. When I got there, I found an elderly gentleman who at first seemed pleasant enough. As he was inspecting my bike, he asked me where I bought it. I told him Walmart. From this point on, everything changed. He started using foul language and told me that my bike was not "" worth a cup of cold urine"" among a host of other expletives directed to myself and Walmart. He told me that if he had known that the bike was from Walmart, he would have charged me $15 to repair the flat tire. He then told me to remove my bike from his store as he was not going to work on it. I complied and left. \r All I wanted was a flat tire repaired. I'm not sure what his problem is with Walmart. I just feel that it is extremely poor customer service and customers should not have to bear the brunt of his beef with Walmart. If this is the kind of reception they give new customers, I'm not sure about the overall quality of their work. I would not recommend this store to anyone. Cons: Everything more
