After I bought the car I had to go back because I noticed that the dealership did not put the untitled vehicle tags on it. No problem. They put the tags on and told me that I'd ...

Editorial review from Citysearch 12/27/2012

Leif Johnson Ford is the most deceitful and unethical company I've ever worked with. Our car, with less than 40k miles, died after just 4 months. It needs a new $6000 engine. We were told they conducted an inspection and also serviced the car before putting it on the lot, however, that was a complete lie. The GMC mechanic said there was sludge in the oil, and any competent mechanic would have seen it. I won't even go into the details of the several things that went wrong throughout the buying process, because at this point, it just doesn't matter. I've been in contact with the Manager Chuck, and he was unwilling (and unapologetic) to help us in any way. Wow. Just...wow. more

Great experience 4/11/2012

I have nothing negative to say about my recent new car buying experience. I worked with Joel Sacks to get a great deal on my 2012 Ford Focus. The finance guy (sorry, I can't remember his name) was able to give me a better interest rate than my own credit union. Reed walked me through all of the fun features on the car. \r \r I definitely recommend Leif Johnson ford more

Mexican Flag ?? 2/29/2012

bad service 12/2/2011

i went there to purchase a used vehicle, mind you this had been the 3rd time here.1st time i was here i was rejected , because of lack of credit, went down to mitsubishi and ended up in a new car, second time, 7 years later, the salesman laughed and said i needed a co-signer.I was there about 2 months ago because i liked a car that i had seen, went to look at it, test drove it, told the salesman of my credit issues.he asuired me they could help.20 min later he asked for 5000 down plus my trade in , he said this was the only way i could get into this car.needles to say , i went down the street and only gave 1500 down and came out with the car of my dreams...i have since told several people to stay way from your dealership, and they have....BIG MISTAKE, BIG....time to go enjoy my convertible... more

Very Poor Experience 8/5/2011

Had a very bad experience with Leif Johnson Ford today. We picked out a $27K F150 from the Ford online inventory and Roy offered to have the vehicle transferred from the other dealership and we scheduled an appt. for 4:30p. I get a call at 4 JUST as I'm leaving asking me to "come a little later," that the truck was "on it's way right then but stuck in traffic." No problem at all. I offered to come in at a little after 5 and he agreed. I load up my two kids and pregnant wife and show up at 5:15. Look around the lot a bit before heading into the office and find out "my" truck STILL hasn't arrived. No problem, right? It's gotta be close by now. We wait in the crappy little front area (run down building, TV wasn't working) but I'm still psyched about getting my new 4x4 truck. Only, the two salesman, Roy and another who greeted us and knew situation, walk by several times over 15 mins without so much as a smile...much less an update. FINALLY, I start asking random people for help and the second salesman decides to go ahead and call the porter. "Gee, thanks!" But wait, he hangs up and tells me the truck will be....wait for it.....ANOTHER 45mins! My wife seriously thought he was joking with us. I knew better...still calm, I look at my wife and say, "Well, guess we're a leavin'!" Salesman just turns and walks away. No apology, no explanation, nothing. MEANWHILE, our actual "salesman", Roy, just stands there and watches all this happen. Never. Says. A. Word. I couldn't help but say to HIM as I pass by, "Man, what are you doing? I was 100% going to buy that truck right now. It was never on the way till just now, was it?" Not a word from him. We walk out and proceed to call a sales manager and then Chuck, the actual manager. Chuck goes on to tell me that the truck had 59K miles instead of 29K miles anyway, they had listed it wrong online! At this point, I'm just stunned at their ineptitude and seemingly lax approach to acquiring my $30K business. I say as much to Chuck, that I didn't feel like he was going to offer much to rectify the situation and maybe I should just head to another Ford dealership. His response: "Oh, I never said THAT. I definitely want to sell you a truck." You don't say, Chuck...you DON'T SAY? Not exactly the response I was looking for. EVERY dealership wants to sell me a freakin' truck, Chuck. YOU need to fix a FUBAR situation and make a new customer happy. All in all, I'm not completely surprised. I've worked in sales all of my life and I cut my teeth at Lone Star Ford (among others) for a few years back in the day. There are many bad salesman out there and even some bad dealerships. Rarely though, do you find a bad "customer service" manager. Those guys know the business and understand that getting the customers money is all that matters. Make them happy, make the sale, repeat tomorrow. Chuck, I'm GOING to buy a 4x4 F150 this weekend or next week. Roy, you COULD have made at least a few hundo in commission. At the very least, you could have respected me more as a customer. Truly, truly your loss. --A.B. more

Refreshing Dealership 6/2/2011

Following about 6 months of internet research and multiple unsuccessful visits to other dealerships in the San Antonio area, I finally found the Ford F-150 I was looking for and at a price well below Kelly Blue Book. I called Leif Johnson about the vehicle and drove to Austin with low expectations based on my previous contacts with the other dealerships. As I walked up to the front door I was met by Tiffini and she invited me to test drive the vehicle which was right up front and had been reserved for me. Wow, first impressions surpassed my previous experiences and after the test drive the actual purchase was a non event. I had done my homework with carfax, NADA rating, blue book value etc. but even if I hadn't they had all this info ready for me. This is a very reputable dealer. Just no nonsense no hassle. I told them I would pay the low internet price plus TT&L and the response was ""OK we'll type it up for you"". Not ""let me ask the sales manager"", not ""well there is a vehicle prep fee you know"", just OK let's do this. Refreshing to say the least. I was also happily surprised when Tiffini called a week after the sale and said she had gotten another Ford passive anti-theft key for the vehicle for me at no charge. There are many second hand F-150s in South Texas and many dealers to choose from. I had a wonderful experience with Leif Johnson Ford who actually appreciates my business and Tiffini set the standard all sales persons should aspire to. more

Best experience so far 10/26/2010

I recently bought a new Ford Edge. I shopped online and Leif Johnson had the best selection and best pricing out of all the dealerships. After we agreed to pricing I came in, test drove the Edge I wanted and shortly after I was driving home. No pressure, great people. I would recommend Leif Johnson to anyone more

Shaddy Business Practices!!! Sales People with NO ethics!!! 6/11/2010

I wish I could give this dealership a -ve star...I live in Wimberly, TX and called this dealership about their low price accord on craigslist before 3 hrs making my trip to Austin. Issac told me that the accord is available. When I reached there, He told me that the accord was just sold and they have many better accords in inventory. He started to show me atleast 10 different cars that I told him I am not interested in...I needed a car soon because I totaled my car in an accident and They sold me a similar accord for atleast $2500 more. Sale was such a pressure that they confused me with so manyt numbers. I asked him to just show me the car that was sold in just 3 hrs and they made excuses like that car never existed...I didnt know that they were involved in ""Bait and Switch practice "" otherwise I would have never went to that place. Not just that!!! Check engine light turned on my way back to wimberly....I showed it to my mechanic and the car need some sensors which costed me another $400. My effort to save some money was obviously a WASTE!!...Lief Johnson FORD is full of unethical people who dont have any moral left...BEWARE!!! Pros: False Advertisement Cons: Pressure Sale, Unprofessional Staff!! more

Low quality technical service 6/25/2008

I bought from another person a Ford Taurus (1996) with just 52K on it. I decided to take a good care of this car and brought it to Lief Johnson Ford. The car was was overheating. When overheating, the engine started to vibrate more than usual, occasionally the car died. The mechanics at the Lief Johnson Ford asked 1,700 USD. I paid, they worked. However, there were no changes in the car's behavior. I went again to the Lief Johnson Ford. I paid, they did something. The car was still vibrating and dieing. In the meantime they told me to fix some other things (2,000 USD). In total I spent about 4,500 USD. I came to them several times saying that the engine is still overheating and vibrating. They told me that it is normal or my temperature sensor is wrong. Recently, I asked the mechanic to drive the car together with me. We drove and the vibrations were so obvious that the mechanic was surprised, like it was the first time for him. They examined the car and told me what the problems was (water pump). But this time it caused more damage in the engine. The Lief Johnson Ford asked 2,400 USD. I complained that this was the problem which they had to fix when I came to them at the first time. Clearly, my car was misdiagnosed several times, and every time that cost me my money. Now, the car has more damage than at the beginning and I have to pay 2,400 USD again. I complained to them and they offered me a discount. They agreed to fix the car for 2,000 USD. That was not acceptable for me, and I left them. I am disappointed, because I expected that the dealer should be able to provide a high quality service. The Lief Johnson guys look professional, but they messed up my car. I also work and sometimes mess up my things. In such cases I work nights and weekends until I fix everything I did wrong. Lief Johnson Ford left their mistakes at my costs which is not a good way of doing business. But Ok, I am a small customer. Who cares ... Pros: Fast service Cons: low responcibility service more

Attentive, personal salesperson. Great truck. Awesome experience! 2/14/2008

About two weeks ago I purchased a 2001 Chevy Silverado from Leif Johnson's Koenig location. My salesman James was an awesome help. He actually listened to what I wanted/needed and worked to find me the perfect truck. There was no pressure as he showed me almost 20 different trucks which fit my needs and price range. After falling in love with my Silverado, we went inside and negotiated the numbers. James was refreshingly open and honest throughout the process. Once we came to an agreement, I completed a credit application and actually got to meet the Finance Manager who was handling my deal. A few hours later, my wife and I left with my truck. I have bought 4 different used cars in the last 6 years. That being said, this was the most laid-back and open sales process I have seen. It actually troubled me when my wife found the negative reviews posted here. I have nothing but good thoughts and wishes for the staff at Leif Johnson. The only minor complaint I have is that the process took a total of four hours. But, in return for my time, I got honesty and a low-mileage truck priced $4500 under Blue Book that checked out both on CarFax and with my personal mechanic. Plus, they also offer a 7 day money back guaruntee just in case I decided it wasn't the truck for me. I highly reccomend James or any of the staff at Leif Johnson Koenig. I will definately be going back there first for my next car purchase. Now, when my friends and family are talking about buying a car, I can finally say that I have a guy! Pros: Attentive salesperson who listened to me. Refreshing approach to car sales. Cons: Financing took a little long b/c the Finance Manager was working to get my payments to the agreed amount, despite my less-than-perfect credit more

Worst car buying experience of my life 6/20/2007

If I could give no stars, I would! Buying a new car from them was the worst car buying experience of my life! They outright lied to me throughout the process ad tried to slip in changes at the last minute hoping I wouldn't notice major differences in what we negotiated and what they tried to get me to sign. Of course they played good cop/bad cop by sending in different people to talk to me and each one tried to blame the other for their dishonesty. SO shady! If you want a honest, smooth, forthright buying experience, go anywhere else. Pros: low pressure sales Cons: incompetent business managers, shady business practices more
