The Lehigh Valley Zoo, formerly known as the Trexler Game Preserve, is much smaller than metropolitan Zoos like the one in Philadelphia. It doesn't have tigers or sealife or monkeys or bears.
Still, it does have many appealing features. It's home to mostly indigenous animals, and has more varieties of sheep and goats than I knew existed. It has a contact area where you can pet or feed some of the animals. (When we visited, some of the animals didn't look like they were in the best
condition.) They also offer pony rides and wagon rides.
Since the Lehigh Valley Zoo is so small, it's an easy place to go with toddlers and young children who tire easily. With low entrance fees, it's an inexpensive and convenient place to take your family for an afternoon.
One more thing--as you drive to the exit, don't miss the buffalo!
