Great Deal 7/23/2009

I agree w/the other reviews somewhat, but I for one was very impressed with this Zoo! I know it is a smaller local zoo, but for the money ($9 to get in) I thought it was a great few hours to spend. There were a lot of animals, although there were no Lions or monkeys, there were plenty of other animals. AND the food was VERY affordable, and good, and we were home in time for nap. My son is 2 1/2 and he loved it. I would recommend going in the morning, it seemed that most of the Zoo keepers told me the animals are out and more active then :) more

Good for a short field trip. 11/7/2005

Although the zoo is on the small side, it is a nice walk and way to spend a few hours of the day. I would not recommend driving a long distance just to visit the zoo but if you live in the Lehigh Valley it is a great way to spend a partial day. We were there about 2 hours or so, which allowed for one walk around and several stops along the way. We actually enjoyed the drive out of the zoo as much as anything. You drive through a little creek (which by the way is an excellent picnic area), and then wind up and down the mountain where you can see some buffalo at one point. more

A Small but Convenient Zoo for Family Fun 8/19/2005

The Lehigh Valley Zoo, formerly known as the Trexler Game Preserve, is much smaller than metropolitan Zoos like the one in Philadelphia. It doesn't have tigers or sealife or monkeys or bears. Still, it does have many appealing features. It's home to mostly indigenous animals, and has more varieties of sheep and goats than I knew existed. It has a contact area where you can pet or feed some of the animals. (When we visited, some of the animals didn't look like they were in the best condition.) They also offer pony rides and wagon rides. Since the Lehigh Valley Zoo is so small, it's an easy place to go with toddlers and young children who tire easily. With low entrance fees, it's an inexpensive and convenient place to take your family for an afternoon. One more thing--as you drive to the exit, don't miss the buffalo! more

A ZOO IN YOUR BACKYARD! 8/11/2005

We like the Lehigh Valley Zoo, formerly known as the Trexler Game Preserve, because it is not too crowded like conventional zoos. They don't have some of the animals you would find in a conventional zoo, however, such as lions & tigers & bears (oh my!). They basically have animals that are native to our area, with the exception of things such as wallabys. My favorites are the otters & the prairie dogs. Nice time for the family. more
