My husband and I could not believe the way the owner talked to us.
I went into Heitman’s to purchase a bed for our guest room. I had a question about my currant bed that I purchased 6 years ago from them. So I thought I would ask my question before I purchased a new bed.
I asked why I had a ridge in the middle of our bed even after I flip the mattress every month and the box springs every other month. The salesman told me that all Kings were this way. I told him that when we purchased the bed we weren’t told this, we were told that if we flipped it we wouldn’t have a ridge. He proceeded to tell me that all kings were this way and I could go to Colony House, Sav-On, Downtown furniture Emporium and People’s and they would all tell me the same thing. I pointed out that didn’t buy my bed from those stores so why would I go to those stores to ask about the warranty on my bed purchased from him.
According to him it wasn’t a warranty issue, this is just how the beds are made, then he told me to “Skedaddle” I said I’m sorry I didn’t hear you. He replied “go on, your done here.” I told him that I had come to buy a new bed, but now I’ll go somewhere else and I’ll be sure to tell others of the horrible service I had received at HEITMANS. He said he didn’t care and that I should go off and do what ever I wanted to do.
Not only did I tell him that I would tell friends about the rude service I received but I would put a post on Craigs list and on Angies List and Judy's book. He said ok, leave now.
I left the store and both my husband and I were dumbfounded at what he had told us. So I turned around and went back in and asked who the owner was he said it was him. I said I would be sure to make the post on Craigs list and Angie’s list. He said he didn’t know what those were and didn’t care. He’ll care once I start posting and reviewing.
I didn’t realize that owners of stores would tell customers to “Skedaddle”
