I've been to Leah's in the past when in WA, last time, was 05/07. It was a Friday & there were customers being helped so I waited patiently for my turn but things were not progressing. The girls behind the counter seemed to have trouble with everything, the register wasn't working, the credit card processor was broken. It was extreme chaos. One of the girls went into the kitchen to get more help. Customers were frustrated with the lack of choices & the technical malfunctions. No one came to help. I was sitting patiently at one of the few tables when a van pulled up and a man came out, he immediately went behind the counter & helped the girls with the customers & proceeds to solve each problem methodically. I watched him repair the the register & credit cards, take care of customers, answering questions & clear the chaotic line of customers. It was like a ballet watching him weave in & out of the small, cramped space. I then ordered my lunch. I assumed he was the owner/manager but he actually started only a month ago. It was that experience that brought me back to Leah's on this trip. This was a mistake. It seems that the powers-that-be at Leah's bakery felt that retainment of good employees is not important. I was so bothered by my new experience that I am compelled to rehash it here. The store was dirty. There was not much of a selection. The soup was bad, sandwich on stale challah. I went into the kitchen. This place was a sty. The employees were dirty, the floor was filthy. The girl that waited on me was no where to be found & the others didn't speak English, I think. I was disturbed by this & left. I am saddened since there aren't many Kosher eateries. This place won't be a destination on my next visit. What happened to this place? I inquired over the weekend and was told that the owner is looking to close her business. No one knew what had happened to the young man that impressed me in May. All the locals said Leah's has a revolving door for employees. Pros: none anymore Cons: another kosher place that gets by thinking we are forced to eat there more

Leah and staff go beyond the call of duty to please their customers. She uses the highest quality ingredients and time tested recipe's. The Rugelach is to die for... JT News named Leah's the best Kosher Caterer for 2007. Her Rugelach and Challah were named best in Seattle. I love her beef roast! I was informed that the short-term counter person named below was let go... Pros: Food! more

horrid customer service 6/9/2007

I had never been to Leah's and was craving falafel when I drove by so decided to stop in a try it out. First of all, the gentleman working at the counter seemed angry that we had come in so close to closing. We were hardly greeted and he was rude the entire time. We were the only people in there and yet had to wait what seemed like ages for our lunch. As far as the food itself goes, the pita was cold, hard, and very dry. The falafel itself was not freshly cooked and we were extremely unimpressed with the serving temperature. Tahina was also nowhere to be found once we started eating, despite the menu's claim to include it. We were so outraged with both the food and the service that we took our order back . Instead of heating them or even offering other assistance, the clerk simply handed us a little cup of week-old tahina. I will never return to Leah's and strongly recommend that you instead try one of the other fabulous places within seconds of this bakery. Pros: none Cons: bad service, cold food, unimpressive more

The challah is very well known, but the rugelachs are amazing and addictive. The chocolate babka is also fantastic and couldn't think of a single thing I wouldn't want to stuff my mouth with. Mmmmm... Pros: yummiest baked goods, lots of parking, great service Cons: can't think of any more

Leah is such a growing concern! Her Challah is the best in Seattle - and is very popular when we take it to Vancouver with us over Shabbos! When will you have a sit down meatery, Leah? ;) Pros: Kosher more
