Attitude! 4/3/2011

I used to come to this restaurant years ago and it was always good. Went there this weekend and the maitre d' and waiter were such snobs that we almost walked out. They have changed their menu so they don't have a lot of the old favorites that used to bring me and my friends in. When my husband and I asked the host a couple of questions regarding the menu he answered us looking past us and acting annoyed. We were starving so decided to stay but sadly our waiter had a similar disposition. He acted put out by any questions about the menu, gave one word answers and was unfriendly (but kinder than the maitre d' believe it or not). The food was OK but the prices were ridiculous for what we had and we will never go back. I don't know why they have adopted this attitude but it seems to be a problem (we tried a month ago to talk to same maitre d' with same outcome but weren't hungry enough to risk it). If they keep this up they will be closed soon. That is fine with me, hopefully an affordable gracious, and good restaurant will take their place. more

Warm and welcoming place 4/24/2010

The staff makes up feel welcomed like a old family friend. I have been many times and had many dishes. The gyros, both with lamb and beef, along with the chicken is mouth watering. The saganaki is so tasty a great why to start you meal, you will want to share it with everybody at your table. If you like stews the Santorini at lunch and the Stifado at dinner are out of this world. The Hummus is the best in Los Angeles! The salads are great also. You cannot go wrong with any dish. Pros: Food Cons: Nothing more

Food is good, attitude sucks 11/6/2009

There are a lot of good greek restaurants in LA. La Petit has the right ingredients, location, decor, food. Pros: Good location, classic greek Cons: Price for value, more

Food Was Excellent Service Was TERRIBLE!!! 7/31/2009

I loved the food and would go back as long as I didn't see Mario there... Mario was our waiter I think he might have been the Manager as well. He had an arrogance about himself... I have lived in Greece, France, and about 20 other countries around the world so I understand the difference from being arrogant and just being from another country with a different way about yourself.. This guy was ARROGANT.. The ONLY time we saw a smile from this man was when we gave him the credit card... No offer of water when we sat down... Did not ask if I wanted a drink. Again Food was Excellent !!! Service was 0 Stars and 2 thumbs down... In this Economy they should be very happy to have customers... more

My favorite greek place! 8/11/2008

We love this place and always take friends and family who are in town. The food is fantastic and the service is even better. It's an intimate setting with both indoor and outdoor seating. We always make a night of it when we go because the food is so good we just can pass anything up! Pros: great food, service, intimate dining more

way too expensive for the quality 7/16/2008

I was looking for a Greek restaurant close to my house and my neighbor recommended this place. Although the food was good, I found the prices to be SO out of line. $18 for a plate that had 3 small mounds of dip and 2 stuffed grape leaves???!!! I had one of the fish specials that was good, nothing spectacular, and my friend had the other fish special that he wasn't crazy about. I go to Greece every year and this is basic taverna food that is not priced accordingly. Over $110, not including tip, for 1 app, 2 entrees, and 2 glasses of wine total for an ok neighborhood place is not some place I'd go back to. more

Very romantic spot 6/18/2008

My vegetarian dish was delectable. I ordered a vegetarian entree which was very extensive so that it could easily make up for the main dish. It was generously piled with diverse Greek specialties which contained diverse tasty dips, cooked potatoes, a tangy eggplant dip, warm pita bread, delicious rice stuffed cabbage leafs and various cooked veggies. The atmosphere amid a dim lit setting was very romantic. Staff was friendly, professional and very obliging. Pros: Food, ambience more

Food was good, Service was horrible 5/27/2008

I have been to this restaurant before. The food is very good but, I have to say the service is quite horrific. After ordering a large salad and two appetizers to split between 3 people for lunch, she advised that there is a minimum $10 per person. So we ordered another entree we wouldn't even eat to please her. She was quite rude as she smirked at our table with the other servers at the front of the restaurant. When we were finished with lunch the extra entree remained untouched. We asked for a to-go-box and there was a hair in the to-go container. I asked for another container and she snatched it from my hand. Even though the food is good, I don't think I'll go there again b.c the service was so poor. Pros: Good Food Cons: Horrible Service more

Crappy Service for Mediocre Food 3/3/2008

After a nice enjoyable evening walk on Larchmont (an oasis), we decided to give this greek restaurant a try. We stood at the podium for about 5 minutes and the maitre-d came by and asked us to wait just a moment to be seated. Just a few feet away, he chatted with people at the bar, answered a couple phone calls, walked in a circle and then seated us. We thanked him for finally seating us as he slowly turned away. He didn't smile once and he had a certain smugness and attitude like we were dining at l'orangerie or the like. more

Great Pita Bread 10/7/2007

The pita bread is amazing with tzatziki and caviar cream. I ordered a delicious salmon which was served piping hot. The servers were friendly and always around to refill drinks and get you more bread. If you dine al fresco, there are tons of busy people with their cute dogs passing by. The only minor ""negative"" thing that didn't affect the taste although could turn some people off was that the Greek side salad contained some lettuce that had a slight browned edge like it wasn't dried well after being cut. I noticed this was the case for everyone's salad but it wasn't unsavory, and certainly didn't take away from a pleasant dining experience. Pros: Good food, service, and people watching spot more

Best Racck of Lamb Dish 9/20/2006

Must order the tarama dip!!! The Racck of Lamb, which is a special and not on the menu is the best thing to order here and by far the best racck of lamb I've ever tried. Must GO! Pros: Best Racck of Lamb Cons: Hard to find parking more

great service, OK food 9/15/2006

Our server was very nice, but our entrees took a little too long, considering we were one of the last tables and the restaurant was emptying out. The appetizer salad of feta, olives, tomato, cucumber and red onion was very fresh and light, but lacking in flavor. The vegeterian plate was very average - the spanakopita was heavy and soggy. The chicken plate - ""zorba"" was also very average - chicken tenders pan roasted with a lemony sauce. They DO have very good pita bread, however. I would recommend a glass of wine and appetizers with pita bread over anything else here... Pros: great pita bread, excellent service Cons: a little expensive for what you get, average food more

Delicious kebabs, great service 7/27/2006

I ordered the chicken kebab, and it was really good! The waiters are really nice but not in your face either, they seat you promptly, and there was plenty of space. We were originally going to eat at the pizza spot, but there was a wait, so we just walked next door to this place. I mean obviously more expensive than a slice of pizza, but it had a nice ambiance, my friend & I got to chat without having to compete with loudness. Great place overall! Pros: chicken kebab, great service Cons: can be moderately expensive more

I love Le Petit Greek 1/11/2006

I used to live near Larchmont and my friends and I would go there often. The food is wonderful and nothing beats chatting over some great food and a glass of wine at one of their sidewalk tables. I cannot remember the names of all of the dishes that we've tried, but the steak salad is great, the chicken in the filo is wonderful, and I am always a fan of their kabobs. This would be an awesome date spot. I've never had bad service here, in fact, they've always been very accommodating. Pros: great ambience, outdoor seating, inexpensive wines Cons: parking more

Great food, but make reservations...it gets BUSY 6/22/2005

I just went with 4 friends on Saturday evening (7pm reservation) and it was fantastic. We were sat immediately, and the waiter was fun and friendly. He even offered us free dessert at the end of our meal to share. My boyfriend had the Escolar (sp?) which is the fish from Fiji, and it was absolutely fantastic. Of course the Saganaki is also great. I'll definitely go back. The only thing I'd mention is that you should have reservations, otherwise, you probably won't get a table in this small, bustling place. Pros: Great Food, Nice Staff Cons: Very Busy more

Painfully slow service 3/3/2005

Incredibly slow service led us to leave before the meal was even done. The hummus appetizer was good. Maybe we just went on the wrong night. There were children in our group, and our order must have gotten lost in the queue. more

rude host 1/23/2005

terrible host greeted us with ""are you aware that you are 20mins late!"" when we were only 10mins late because parking was not easy to find. We apologized, and he continues with ""are you really sorry?!"". I said ""no but I am trying to be polite because you are being so rude"". He started off our dinner with the most negative attitude. Unfortunatly, we were forced to stay because it was a birthday dinner. Overpriced boring food and bad service all night long. Cons: , food, environment more

Crappy Food! 10/19/2003

The food here hardly qualifies as Greek. All the food is completely bland! It tastes like they just pulled everything out of the freezer and microwaved it. Ugh! I will never go here again! Cons: Food, food, food more

Abysmal Cali-Greek 10/4/2002

This Greek restaurant is a bland version of real Greek food. Emphasis is on fresh vegetables and overpriced specials. Many traditional Greek dishes are not even served. Service is haphazard and condescending. No Garlic in the food means not real Greek. A joke! Pros: Ambience Cons: Food, Service, Overpriced more

Two thumbs up! 7/1/2002

It's the best Greek food I have had in a while! I highly recommend the chicken gyros. It comes in a soft pita bread with a delicious filling & greek chicken. On the side, it also comes with a greek salad and lemon potatoes. The portion is quite big and I didn't even finish everything. The service is very good and I also like the atmosphere. I would sit outdoors next time, as Larchmont is a cute area to people watch. This restaurant does get crowded, so go early or late and make reservations. more
