The SceneThrough an alley lined with palm fronds, down a dark staircase, the club-restaurant offers a sumptuous, gilded Gold Coast hideaway. Thick pillars throughout are painted with 21-karat gold, as is the artist-designed wallpaper. The dance floor is nice enough--a roomy, wood-paneled enclave--but the real attraction is the Yow Bar, named after Yow Low, the famous bartender from Trader Vic's.The DrawThe dining crowd skews older than the usual club scenesters, while the line for Yow Bar (which snakes through the club) is full of flashy fashion plates. Classic French fare and upscale meat and potatoes define the food menu, the meat being braised duck (the house specialty, terrific and sweet) and the potatoes crisp pommes frites. Seasonal preparations of foie gras and lobster salad (served with tender fingerling potatoes) also shine, and the raspberry-chocolate terrine is breathtaking.
