quality prime rib and steak 3/19/2007

I still remember the first time I came to Lawry's, and I felt like I entered a meat-lover's paradise... The waitresses came along in their pink aprons and their carts filled with steaming and succulent meat. Their prime rib with horseradish is the best thing on their menu (hence their title), but their steaks are delicious too. Also, the sides come a la carte, but you should definitely order the creamed corn! Though it's on the high-end side when it comes to prices, it's a nice place to go for a celebratory dinner. Pros: prime rib, steak, formal environment Cons: high prices more

Prime rib is the word - Traditional...but oh so good! 11/26/2006

Lawry's is a place where I go at least once a year. It's a great family experience. You have to make a reservation because of all the tourists that are in need for some RED MEAT (they also have salmon). Also come with a VERY empty stomach and a love for prime rib, mashed potatoes, creamed corn and spinach and Yorkshire pudding - everything oh soo good and oh soo fattening! The salad spinnes with the dressing a mile high. I'm ready to pass out by the time dessert comes. The place is huge, the waitresses are sweet and if you want some "lighter" food you can go up LA Cienega to Matsuhisa. If you have dogs at home and want to give them paradise - ask the waitress for some bones (if they give you too many - you can freeze them and give them later). My dogs love them. Pros: Fun for the whole family! Cons: Don't come without a reservation, Valet could be better organized more

good food, hilarious experience 11/23/2006

This is perfect for the old money of beverly hills...but a real treat for hipsters looking to have some good food and be amused. The waitresses are dressed in a cross between old nurses uniforms and old waitress uniforms..bascially they look like they are running the ride at Its a Small World in Disneyland. You truly feel like you walk in and its 1944. Its a trip, and funny. The spinning salad is funny, but disapponting. The portions are huge( I mean ENORMOUS) , which is nice, and its great if you like steak. If you aren't into steak, your menu choices are limited. All in all, well worth the trip. You'll get a good meal and laugh about the aburdity of the restaurant! Pros: good food, good service Cons: none, unless this type of place isn't your style more

This is a throw back in time to old fashioned dining. If you are looking for fushion cusine, california chic this not for you. Family dining, waitresses in uniforms, etc. The menu is limited but who wants to eat chicken here! I love the silver serving cart and everyon loves the spinning salad bowl. Take the fam..... Pros: Prime Rib more

It's a great place to bring out-of-town visitors, especially if they love meat. Considering all the food you get -- salad, sides, etc, it's a bargain. And delicious. more

This restaurant lives up to its reputation. Over size portions with everything....but you don't want to put your fork and knife down. I went there for my birthday, and I didn't think I was going to be able to walk out the door. It's fun, and a great place to entertain. Make sure you bring meat eaters, and leave the vegetarians home. Pros: Great portions Cons: none more

It was very expensive, but very worth it. The best prim rib around. Everything was made wonderfully, and the portions are definitely generous. The restaruant has an amazing look, the service was top-notch, and you just can't deny the taste and aroma of the food. This is a good place for large parties or romantic dining for two. Also a good classy place to take out-of-towners who love to dine in style. more

We come here every year for my friend's birthday and never had a bad experience. I recommend making reservations or you can just sit at the bar. The place is always crowded, but totally worth it. Everything on the menu is delicious and the staff is very friendly. Bring your appetite with you because the portions are big! Pros: Prime rib, staff, parking Cons: Crowded more

My Absolute Favorite Place!!! 10/29/2006

I've been going to Lawry's for every anniversary, birthday, and any other type of celebration. I absolutely love this place. Their prime rib melts in your mouth and their cream corn is the best. I love their salad and bread too. It's best to make a reservation but if you have to wait for a table it's okay because they serve meatballs and potato chips. It's delicious! Go now!!! I definitely recommend this place. Pros: Everything!!! There's nothing wrong with the place. Maybe...except for the servers' outfits. Cons: Nothing more

I have been for few times. I love the place. The meat, indescriblely tasty and instantly melt in the tip of your tongue. The side dishes are prepared as exquisite as the meat and compliment well with it. Even when i am typing this review, i am silavating. Pros: Amazing Food, Great value, Great Service Cons: Nothing - if you really want to be picky- their utensils are not as shiny, you can see scratches, and the place can be noisy more

The cream corn side dish is too die for! Also for the ribs, and dessert. Everything! Never had dull time when I go there. It's better you make a reservation, than you have to wait for 2 hours on weekends. more

Delicious everytime! Lawry's is one of those restaurants that everyone in L.A. has to try out. The service is great and the food is delicious. I recommend the prime rib. Pros: Money well worth! Cons: waiting time more

Get into it! 5/18/2006

I love Lawrys- your server is "miss" whatever her name is, the salad spins, carts roll by with huge slabs of meat, the "carvers" have huge medals around their necks- I mean, get into the experience! The center of the dining room is full of Asian tour groups, creamed corn- yum, yorkshire pudding- yum, meat- yum! The atmosphere is that of Lawrys, uniquely not LAish. I love it...I know gourmet chefs who frequent it, and as far as the prime rib goes- it is really delicious. Pros: Food Cons: messy valet parking more

Great Place to Go 5/13/2006

Lawry's is consistent. The wait can be long if you don't have a reservation, but if you walk in when it opens, you're most likely to be seated shortly. Service is good; its prime rib is a must-try. It's one of my favorite restaurants. more

Cafateria 4/10/2006

toddrthompson Provided by Partner
We went based on reviews. It feels like a cafateria. The prime rib served at the table is a great feature, but didn't have any rare as early as 7pm. Lights are way to bright for such a huge space and it's not set up for a romantic dinner. My feeling is that it is more of a tourist spot with terrible ambiance. I think it is more suited for large groups, which is mostly what we saw. Cons: , lighting, groups more

Lawry's prime rib is the best in the city. You can always get the cut you want, and that cut is always cooked the way you want it. The side dishes are delicious. The tableside presentation and salad service are a treat. Bear in mind, this an everyman's fine dining establishment. There's not a lot of prentense invloved. Even if you have a reservation, expect a twenty minute wait for your table. The place is always overbooked and the bar is packed from wall to wall. Pros: Prime Rib, Tableside Service Cons: Always overbooked more

DELICIOUS FOOD! 3/25/2006

I have been coming to Lawry's for over ten years now since I've moved to Los Angeles and by far this is my favorite restaurant. The prime rib, despite what a couple people say, is absolutely juicy, tender, delicious, and quite simply, some of the best prime rib I've ever had. As many other people have stated, the cream corn really is to die for, whenever I go, I have people telling me to buy the cream corn for them back! And actually, the lobster that can be added to the dinner is delicious, not the best, but definitely delicious! And while this restaurant may seem a bit steep in price, the quality and quantity of prime rib you get is an incredible deal! Pros: Prime Rib, Cream Corn, Value more
