I bought a Yorkie and found out later she had parvovirus. I had to bring her back, though she was soooo cute it broke my heart. I don't wish this on anybody. I wish I had been ...

You can buy love! At Laughlin Kennel! 11/14/2007

I went to Laughlin Kennel in Oxford Ma For the 2nd time in ten years. My heart was broken, I had lost my friend and companion of ten years. I knew no one could ever take Ginny's place but I needed a new pup to help me move on. Laughlin had just what I needed! A bouncing baby girl. I bought one of the most beautiful little girls I've ever seen. . I took her to the vet and she is a remarkable pup. She healthy and bright and just the best. I will always miss and remember Ginny but I am grateful and proud to have Pixie. The people were helpful \r and gave a lot of information. It's been ten years since I have had a pup so I had a lot of questions. They took the time to answer every one of them. I am more than satisfied and will tell everyone how happy I am with my new pup. Pros: Nice pups, Lots of pups to pick from. Cons: A bit of a drive but worth it. more

I will buy there agin 11/11/2007

My family went to Laughlin kennel in Oxford Ma on Saturday November 10th to look at puppies. I am very proud to say we bought a beautiful little mixed breed girl and we love her. We thought about having a pup shipped in from out of state, but even the best of them require that you pay the shipping if there is something wrong with a pup and you have to ship it back, which just seems awful to me in the first place. One I saw wouldn't do anything unless the puppy died! So we bought a pup bred in Missouri from a local place. It seemed like the better choice and we're glad we did. Pros: Have a wide selection, polite and helpful staff Cons: It was awfully busy that particular Saturday more

Some dogs kept outside in shack trailer 11/11/2007

My husband and I were looking to adopt a small dog for our family. I called on the phone to find out about puppies. The woman who answered didn't seem to answer my questions. I set up an appt to see a few dogs. When we got there we almost left without going in. To the right of the house where the dogs are sold is a shack trailer with all kinds of kennels attached. Dogs were barking like mad in it. My husband looked at me and said do you still want to go in? We were hoping it would be better inside. When we went in there was about 15 people and 4 puppies in small room. The 4 puppies were all over the place and it was to difficult to even look at the puppy we came to see. The other puppies are kept in a seperate area and we were not able to look at all of them. When we were there a girl came in with her vet bill from a dog she had purchased a week earlier. The dog was very sick and she was demanding they pay the bill. The worker at the kennel was not professional at all. They should have taken her out of the room and discussed it else where. Instead we all had to listen to it. We looked at only one puppy on our list and left. I would not recommend buying a puppy from this place. We felt very uncomfortable and felt as though we were just a number. I hope the puppies in that trailer are ok I felt really bad for them.\r We did buy a puppy at a place in Webster that was wonderful. Plenty of space to play with the puppies. We could view all the puppies as the puppies sleep all together in big puppy pens. We were given individual attention and felt very comfortable. We love our new puppy. more

I wouldn't go anywhere else! 11/2/2007

On Saturday My husband and I went to Laughlin Kennel in Oxford MA to look for a puppy. They had many pups to choose from. We picked one out and bought him. We took him to our vet yesterday and he was given a clean bill of health. He is a fast learner and his house training is going well. I want to thank the nice people Who made it possible for us to have Coco as part of our family. Pros: Nice puppies Cons: Hard choice more

DO NOT BUY FROM LAUGHLIN KENNELS 11/1/2007

Do not buy from Laughlin Kennels. I bought a puppy from them in mid October. Three days after she was home she ended up in the emergency room in ICU in an oxygen tank. She had kennel cough and then it progressed to phnemonia. The doctor said I took her just in time - she more than likely would not have made it. Needless to say, I spent over $1500 to save her. When I contacted the kennel they said they aren't responsible for vet bills and said I can return her if I would like. Why would I return her after spending that money, saving her life to return her to a place where she would become ill again! My fear is that others are buying from this kennel and will run into the same situation as I did. Kennel cough is extremely contagious and without the right sterilization in the kennel it is highly likely other dogs are sick as well. I noticed on the reviews the favorable reviews were some time ago - the negative ones have been in the past few months which tells me more and more animals will be sick in the future from this place. I wonder if people are going to start to question why they take the animals out in the office for you to view them instead of walking through the kennel! Big question there! DO NOT BUY FROM THEM - Cons: Sick Puppies more

Great Experience! 10/26/2007

My Mom just recently lost a dog she has had since I was a kid. I wanted to get my Mom a dog right away. So I went on the net and found Laughlin Kennel out in Oxford Ma. They have a great web site. They put pictures of all their puppies up so you can see them. Mom was able to pick her pup from the picture, I was able to pick it up. I was able to see the pup and hold it.It was great! The staff was helpful and really knew what they talking about. They are real professionals. I liked that. My Mom loves her Yorkie. If I ever need a another pup I'm going to Laughlin. Pros: Good selection more

Uninformed and Uncaring 10/7/2007

I would never recommend this kennel to anyone looking to buy a puppy. The staff was not very knowledgable about even simple questions regarding the breed of dog we bought. The Giardia and Kennel Cough and ongoing health issues. When I called to ask for assistance inbetween vet visits I was told to either return the puppy for a refund or I was on my own for all vetinary care. Since we were already attached to him we couldn't bear the thought of returning him to such an awful place. We are out several hundred dollers in vet bills already and are hoping for a final postive outcome. He is a very sweet puppy and we love him dearly but we would never have gone there had we known before hand. Their lack of compassion is just astounding. Please do your research before you buy a puppy. Pros: Local Cons: Sick puppy and uninformed staff more

DO NOT BUY FROM THIS ""BREEDER"" 9/12/2007

I bought an English Bulldog from this breeder just over a month ago. From the day i got him, he was making a hacking noise. I mentioned it at the initial vet exam on the 3rd day I had the puppy, they didn't see anything but said to monitor it. The 13th day I had the puppy, he has having severe difficulty breathing and I had to rush him to the emergency room. He was diagnosed with life threatening pneumonia and parasites. I called the breeder the next day and they said that I could bring the puppy back by the end of the day for a refund and buy him back when he got healthy, or I could pay all the hospital bills. However, the dog was already in the hospital and had I not taken him there when I did, he would be dead, which I explained to them. They basically said I should have taken him to them instead of the hospital and I was out of luck. After calling day after day for 2 weeks, and having every piece of documentation from the vet and emergency hospital (where has has had 2 overnight stays so far), I finally spoke with one of the owners the other day. She told me that I had signed a contract, and that because i rushed him to a nearby hospital rather than bringing him to them, they were not going to do anything for me. The hospital bills so far have been in excess of $2500, and I have not even had the dog for a month. Please do not give these people any business. They are unethical, have zero compassion, and have no sense at all of how a business should be run. more

Most informative puppy buying experience. 7/31/2007

We bought a puppy at Laughlin Kennel about a year and a half ago. An english mastiff. The puppy is geat, in disposition and and in size (over 200 pounds). When we first took a look at Rachel (the puppy) we wern't sure if we were ready to buy. The sales girl recomended we go home and consider it further because she didn't want the puppy to be sent home until the owners were ready. We were very impressed at this level of care and came back the next morning to adopt her. She has been great. We've never had any health problems, or obedience issues. She is very well behavied and has brought so much joy into our lives that I can't describe how I feel. \r Laughlin kennel is a quality puppy store and we highly recomend them to anyone looking for a new puppy.\r sincerly, \r Mr. and Mrs. Scott Levinsky Pros: Many more

DO NOT BUY FROM THIS BROKER /BREEDER - READ THIS! 7/31/2007

We have had several health problems with our English Mastiff, including ear mites, parasites and her AKC papers show that she is inbred! I find it hard to beleive that a dog that was signed off as healthy every Friday by the Laughlin Kennel's vet as shown in her paper work. Every person that wrote in on the online petition against them had all the same health problems, and then some. Supposedly the dog had her vaccinations, but Laughlin Kennel produced no paper work for vaccinations. Also our personal Vet indicated that she had none. You can find out more by searching th net for the kennel and look for the petition against them (petitionspot dot com)signed by many dog owners who dealt with them. It is 12 pages long! Search for it on the big ""G"" search site. PLEASE PLEASE DO MORE RESEARCH ON THEM! more

I Highly Recommend Laughlin kennel! 7/25/2007

Our pup is the best. When we started we didn't know what we wanted. They had lots of pups to pick from. The staff was helpful with out being pushy. We explained our son had allergy issues. My husband had a lab when he was a kid. We knew that was out but he had fond memories of his boyhood friend. The girl brought out several pups for us. Sammy knew we were his. Staff did tell us poodles are smart and labs are sweet. We left with our new Labradoodle, a very happy family. They put it all in writing. You take the pup to your own vet and have it checked out. We sent pictures and we hope they put us on the wall with some of the other happy family's! I highly recommend this kennel if you want a new pup! Pros: Lots of pups to pick from. Very helpful staff. Family friendly. Cons: Busy place on weekends but well staffed. more

Good selection of pet quality puppies 2/26/2007

Overall, a very positive experience and Buddy is the greatest little Yorkie in the world. Here are some things you might like to know before you go there.\r \r The selection is surprisingly large, but you really need to have narrowed down what you want before you go there (which is a good idea anyway) because their pups are not out on display. They'll bring whatever pup you might be interested in to you, but they might have as many as 90 pups available and it makes no sense to bring everything from a tiny Pomeranian to a Great Dane for you to inspect. \r \r Call before you go there; it helps if they are expecting you. Also, if you can go during the week it is a lot less hectic -- sometimes on the weekend there will be several groups of people in the office all at once.\r \r The guarantees are clear and in writing. The pups come with a complete medical record. If you are interested in a couple of pups, ask to see their records -- it may help you choose between them. They won't pressure you to buy a pup or to ""buy now."" If it isn't the right time for you to take on a new member of your household then it won't right for the pup, either. \r \r Negatives: we bought on a Saturday and the place was a little hectic, but the sales person was competent and didn't get flustered at all, so it worked out fine. Pros: Selection; clear guarantees; knowledgable more
