I bought a Yorkie and found out later she had parvovirus. I had to bring her back, though she was soooo cute it broke my heart. I don't wish this on anybody. I wish I had been ...

Thank gosh for this kennel 10/24/2008

About a month ago we lost our little dog to a tragic accident. I needed to replace Dixon right away. My kids needed a new pup and one of my kids is special needs. Dixon was her dog. I went to the Laughlin web site picked out a pup and went to buy her. While we still miss our Dixon, we love the new pup. Priss is a breath of fresh air. When we took her to the vet she checked out fine. They had many pups to pick from. They are easy to deal with - there was no pressure. They patiently answer questions completely. Even after the sale. Everything was clean and in good order. I felt compelled to write a review because it is only natural to like the people who make a family complete. We needed Priss. Thank you Laughlin Kennel, for making it possible to get her. Pros: It's a wonderful place to find a pup. You can take it home right away. Cons: The employees cry when you take a puppy home. more

We love Laughlin Kennel 10/24/2008

I took my family to Laughlin Kennel to pick a new pup for Christmas. We spent a hour or so and bought a fantastic little dog two weeks ago Saturday. We took her to the vet just like they ask you to do. Our little Noel checked out just fine. Her house breaking is going well. She has made the kids happy, which makes me happy. This was the best time for my family to open our home to a pup. They have a caring and helpful staff. I would go back anytime I was looking for a pup. Pros: their website is awsome more

I have the most prefect dog! 10/24/2008

I purchase a dog from Laughlin Kennel about 3 months ago. Prefect doesn't even begin to describe her! We took her to the vet a few days after we bought her. Our vet said she was healthy with no signs of illnesses and a beautiful representation of the breed. The staff was young, yet very knowledgeable. Apparently, many of them had grown up learning by volunteering at the kennel. I was very impressed by them. The health guarantee is fair and responsible and a contract is signed when a puppy is purchased to ensure your rights (am sure theirs as well.) I found this very helpful since it was clear what my options were had we encountered a problem with the puppy. The place was relatively clean and the animals looked well cared for. At first I was alittle apprehensive about not being allowed down to were the puppies are kept. But the staff explained humans bring in diseases and often cause great stress to the animals. Due to the many people who seem to come into this business everyday, it made prefect sense. Also, they insured me the state inspects them regularly as well as the MSPCA. I would recommend this place to anyone looking for a puppy. It seems like a nice family own business and a great way to find the pet of your dreams. Pros: Selection Staff Website! Cons: Busy! more

honest story 10/24/2008

Sounds to me like the comment below this one is a plant. Seeing as these people aren't very good at customer service it doesn't surprise me that they have such a large base of unhappy customers. Well, I'm not part of any hate group that thinks anything crazy about slavery. I'm just posting my honest opinion based on what I know.\r \r My niece bought a schnoodle pup there for about $1K. The dog had luxating (sp) patellas ( a problem with the knees that is inherited from the parents) that would require surgery to repair. The dog also had kennel cough. They did not even treat the other dogs that this dog was in the pen with once they found out about the kennel cough. They took a very long time to return her money, she actually ended up having to dispute the charge with her credit card company for them to do anything & they already had the pup back!! Please stay away from this place. There are lots of other places to buy healthy happy friends from people that care.\r more

Dogs shouldn't be for sale!!!!! 10/23/2008

The reason my friends and I decided to post all of these reviews tonight is because we are protesting THE COMMERCIALIZATION OF DOGS!! They Are Animials! NOT SLAVES!! You shouldn't own a dog or cat or anything! if they are to exist it should be in the WILD where they BELONG! So we got together and wrote these reviews to show you how awful your ife could be if you BUY a dog! Don't ever buy from a pet store or a breeder! Or Shelters! They all support dog ownership! We have to end this NOW! Just because we made up the horror stories doesn't mean it didn't happen to somone! Just remember how awful dog ownership is! And don't forget to contact us at ENDSLAVERY@yahooDOTcom!!!!! more

hip dysplasia 10/23/2008

I bought a Golden Retriever puppy from them, and he had SEVERE HIP DYSPLASIA. THey did refund my money, but it was an empty act since his operations cost far more. This was not simply a chance event, either. My dog's mother was breed by a man named Ed Van Doorn in Iowa. This is where Laughlin gets many of the puppies. He does NOT SCREEN his animals for hip dysplasia. I asked Laughlin for his mother's health records. NONE. THey were extremely mean, rude and UNCARING about the puppies with sicknesses that they sell and irresponsibly buy and broker from other puppy mills Pros: no, they are not certainly not pros Cons: rudeness more

Nightmare 10/23/2008

Not only was the puppy sick with incureable diseases. How did ""their"" vet miss this?? But after he had to be put down was when the real nightmare began. Trying to get refunded was a fight every step of the way. A bunch of teenages are running the place. No straight answers from anyone. I requested a call form the owner at least 7 or 8 times and never recived one. Please do yourself a favor and don't buy a dog from there you will be sorry! more

disgusted former employee 10/23/2008

Hi I worked there 10 years ago and there seem to be no change the condtion of the sick dogs horrible. One died of a treatable infection. I saw things that are so wrong. They do have a limit on the number of animals they can have there and they were over by 60 puppies!! Cons: mean on the phone if you need anything more

bad experience 10/23/2008

I had an English Mastiff for fifteen years and recently had to put him down. It took a bit to decide to get another dog. I searched around and read a few reviews for other pet stores and mistakenly thought that a family run business would be good because it was family operated. When I went to Laughlin Kennel I was assaulted with a horrible smell. The dogs are kept out of sight and when they brought out the mastiff puppy I asked about he had deworming medicine all over his face. I asked a few basic questions about the care and the girl who ran the office seemed baffled, by even simple questions. Poor little guy made me feel like I would have been abandoning him if I left him there. When I bought him we found out he had the parvo virus. Now we're stuck watching our poor little guy as the virus does its work. Not only is it traumatic watching this happen, but I find myself in tears daily as I clean his bloody stool up whenever he makes the inevitable mistakes. I know I should put him down, but as a lifelong catholic I'm having a hard time making that vet appointment. I would NOT go here again. \r \r more

Lauglin Kennel is a nice place to buy a nice pup! 10/23/2008

My family bought a pure breed Maltese pup from Laughlin kennel. We Looked a few places and the one we felt most comfortable with was Laughlin. They have a written guarantee where everything is spelled out. We liked that if there ever was a problem they would be in driving distance. Well we never had a problem. We are very happy with our pup she has become a member of our family! The staff was helpful and spent a lot of time with us. The place was very clean and you could see the pups were well cared for. Laughlin Thank you Pros: Nice people who care about the pups! Cons: You can't takr them all home more

my only true companion 10/22/2008

I am an 84 year old woman, and I was so lonely. My children never came to visit me. I was completely only. I have very little money since my husband Alfred died. But I needed a companion, and I am too old to find a beau. My children thought I should get a puppy, but i didn't want a puppy that was so young, and i certainly couldn't afford a $2000 dog, so my children found the bargain list at LK. They had the cuties little mixed breed for an affordable price, and the puppy wasn't so young that I couldn't care for it. I had a great experience these people at LK helped me. They took my phone calls. They brought the puppy to my car, so that I didn't have to go up the steps, and it was raining. They had a good selection. There puppies are healthy, cute, and friendly. I hope to get my granddaughter a puppy from them too. I recommend them one hundred percent. more

Not a bad place. 10/22/2008

I recommend this place. My family bought a Dalmatian from laughlin kennel 13 years ago. We went back recently hoping to purchase another one since ours had passed away this summer. Unfortunately, they do not breed Dalmatians anymore. Luckily, We did find a beautiful wheaten puppy and are extremely happy with him. Its so nice he doesn't shed! \r \r I know that it's difficult to find a decent place to purchase a puppy in the New England area. But, I had no problems with this place. From my past experiences, I would say this is the place to go.\r \r I hope this was helpful. more

Glad they are here! 10/22/2008

We had friends who had bought a Yorkie pup from here and recommended them to us. We checked online before going out and saw mostly happy customers but some who were unhappy. We decided we would post our experience, whatever it was. We bought a Wheaten Terrier boy -- Shamus. We were able to see the parents. Today we received our AKC papers, so it is time to post. \r \r We haven't had any problems at all and our vet said the pup was obviously well cared for. Shamus has been friendly and outgoing from the start and has been a great addition to our family. I guess if you sell enough pups, someone is bound to be unhappy. Some people criticize them without even having bought a puppy. For my wife and me, we are glad they are there as an alternative to the shelters, which have their own horror stories although probably through no fault of their own. Pros: We were given a lot of attention Cons: They need more space to show puppies -- it was a little busy for the space more

I can't thak Laughlin enough! 10/21/2008

I just wanted to let the whole world know all about how happy I am with my puppy .I bought three years ago, for the kids. She has been a God-send to our family. She has been happy and healthy from day one. We were so happy with our first pup we went back and bought a new pup two weeks ago. A We have had a repeat of a happy experience! The staff was helpful and knowledgeable, This is the only place I would go to buy a pup. The next time we want a pup we will go to Laughlin and I will recommend the to all my friends. Pros: Lots of pups to pick from, caring staff and helpful staff! more

On Saturday My husband and I went to Laughlin Kennel in Oxford MA to look for a puppy. They had many pups to choose from. We picked one out and bought him. We took him to our vet yesterday and he was given a clean bill of health. He is a fast learner and his house training is going well. I want to thank the nice people Who made it possible for us to have Coco as part of our family Pros: Coco is a member of our family! Cons: Watch out for puppy tails! more

Great Place to get a dob 9/29/2008

Staff was excellent, prices were just right, guarantee allowed me to be sure I was getting what I paid for. My kids love our dog . They've been so happy with it, we had some questions and the girls in the office were very helpful answering them. We got all our AKC papers and registered the dog relatively soon after we got it. I would definitely go back to Laughlin Kennel, and we just might to get a friend for our new pup. I'd recommend the place to anyone.\r \r Thanks! Pros: Great Staff Cons: Needs more parking more

I am very sorry to say, Parvo is a risk any where. 9/28/2008

I would first like to start off saying how much I love my puppy that I got from LK. I have a 6 year old chocolate lab named Cabbage. She is the best ever. \r \r I did get a puppy from local breeder 6 years ago; it was someone I knew who had puppies. They were pretty, and they took their pups to the vet, and got them shots. Even though they did all this my puppy, Dolly died of parvo. This lead me to do some research about parvo. I found that the best prevention is Neopar, a patented vaccine. This vaccine is the best you can get. I learned that even if you vaccinated puppies, much like with people, puppies can still get the disease. I also found out that parvo is the leading cause of GI problems, and death in puppies 2 months old. \r \r I was very nervous to find another puppy after this tragic event in my life. But my vet recommend that I get a puppy that was more exposed to the diease and more strongly vaccinated against parvo. This search for such place lead me to LK. They were very helpful. Alison told me that there was a risk when taking a puppy, but that their puppies are vaccinated with Neopar. I am only writing this because I know how upsetting parvo can be. You have to watch your puppy be eaten from the inside out, but I believe that they did everything in their power to prevent this from happening. \r \r I truly hope that your puppy is ok. I know that when I got a puppy from them they had a guarantee, which is something I didn't receive from my friend. I of course had to pay vet bills, but I didn't get a refund or anything. With LK I had sometime to return the puppy, if I needed, and I wasn't unlucky this time. I would suggest doing that if you haven't. Vet bills can get pretty expensive. I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers.\r \r I will get my next puppy from LK. Pros: Very patient, listen to my whole life story, told me not to buy if I was unconfortable Cons: Parents not on site for labs more

Hello from your friends from out of town! 9/18/2008

I know I just sent you an email but I thought I'd drop i'd a line here to share how wonder my experience has been. Howie, our little jack russel, joined our family almost a year ago while we visiting some family in MA. We brought everyone, almost fifteen people lol, packed into three different cars and invaded Laughlin Kennel's small office. The workers were nice and a bunch of them kept comming and going and always stopped to ask if we had any questions, of course we were mostly just interacting with Howie and the other puppies, so we didn't very many. It was obvious Howie was the puppy for us when he jumped into my wife's lap and stole her necklace. Anyway I don't mean to bore with puppy stories, but I did want to express our gratitude for all that you've done for our family! more

You need a pup? This the place. 9/11/2008

I was looking for a pup for my family. Found Laughlin on line. Looked at the pictures of pups. Showed the kids. Picked a couple we liked. Took the family out to see them. Left with a pup for the family. He is good little guy. They had lots of nice pups to choose from. We picked our pup and took him home the same day.\r Vet said he is all good. It has been a good experience for my family.\r \r \r Pros: They live right there, the pups are well cared for and I was happy they are licensed and inspected by the State and provide a written guarantee Cons: Small sales area. more
