Best

2 weeks ago my girlfriend and I went to Latin cafe because it was an hour wait down the street. We had never seen it before and were a little skeptical. But the food and service...

Worst

As a native of Brazil I know South American when I taste it. The food is not bad but it isn't great either. Valet service was rude and would not let me park unless I gave him 4 do...

I asked for a booster seat! 5/18/2005

Entering the cool, quiet restaurant for lunch near my office, I was excited, until I sat down...and kept going down... The dining room's tables are too high for the patio-style chairs. I asked the server if it was just me, or if all the seating was that way - shrug - yeah, lots of people say that. Thanks for being green, but the motion detector on the bathroom light should be aimed so it turns on the lights as the door opens in, rather than forcing the guest to go into the darkened bathroom to trigger the light on. Sad sad story, as the food was quite good. more

Great for lunch! 4/21/2005

I lunch at Dona Emilia's for one thing... the Pollo Guisado. That's not to say that there's nothing else decent on the menu. I just enjoy the chicken dish so much that I have yet to order anything else! It reminds me very much of the stewed chicken my grandmother (of hispanic descent) used to make, the meat so tender that it just falls off the bone. I find the lunch prices to be very reasonable. The service here is extremely friendly and prompt. Pros: service Cons: parking more

A welcome option 9/12/2004

Dona Emilia's has very good food. It's inventive and authentic without being too bizarre or fusion-oriented. The mojitos were good (a bit sweet), and the sangria was excellent. Chicken was grilled to perfection, and the kiwi barbecue sauce was delightful--especially on the fried plantains! Everything was very good. We took our 2 yr. old and were pleased to see other children. The server, George, was outstanding. The prices are moderate to slightly expensive, but portions are generous enough to share. We will absolutely go back soon. Don't miss the exotic juices! Pros: Vegetarian options, Valet, Service more

Great Food, Great Service 6/25/2004

Last night 9 of my friends and I went to Dona Emilia's for dinner. The drinks were great although I recommend asking the bartender to make your Mojito more tart than sweet. The wine list is decent and the food was fantastic. Our waiter was attentive and we were seated promptly. Overall I consider this an excellent place to take a lively group for great food and drinks. Pros: Valet Parking, wine list, vegetarian dishes Cons: , loud, Mojitos are too sweet more

The best Colombian food in town! 8/27/2002

Doña Emilia's is wonderful! As a native Latin American and someone who has lived in Colombia, I can tell you, this is good stuff and the real deal. Not only do they have tasty food, but they also offer Colombian sodas and international beers. Plus the service is great! I highly recommend this restaurant! more

*** 8/17/2002

Great authentic South American food! The empanadas were the next best thing to homemade. We had Chulettas de Cerdo with Dona Emilia's sauce - very tasty. (We ordered three extra sides of sauce it was so good.) We also had the Tamal wrapped in banana leaves- scrumptious! It was great to look at all the other dishes coming out of the kitchen - to include the fish (you'll have to go to see what we mean.) Service was friendly but not very fast. But if you're looking to try something different, flavorful, and full of South America, this is the place to go! Pros: Good portions, flavorful, authentic Cons: a little slow, out of beer, small more
