Eclectic casual hang-out 2/20/2011

It's takes a little work to find the place, and then find a place to park, but if you're looking for something a little different, some live music, super casual atmosphere, this is it. If you don't want to listen to music, the front patio is available. The menu is limited, primarily Tex-Mex, with no extraordinary or unusual dishes. Food was just OK. Service was excellent. On a Sunday afternoon, they were already jamming on the back patio. Reasonable prices. more

Amazing venue! Amazing Food! The Best!! 2/9/2011

Ive lived in Houston for 2.5 yrs and Ive finally found my favorite live music venue. This is where its at, the place Ive been looking for but could never find. Parking a bit tricky not being familiar with that area but once inside, it was one of the best nights Ive had in a long time. Killer location to see live music with the outdoor area/stage setup. No need for lengthy descriptions as all other reviews cover that, but definitely my type of crowd and even ran into some friends. Lots of NOLA ppl there as we saw Anders Osborne and Stanton Moore (excellent show btw!!). 5 stars all the way, wish I could put 10 stars. Perfect mix of Austin and NOLA live music restaurant/bar. more

Overrated 9/9/2009

I went with a group of friends to this place after hearing about it. Initially walking in I was intrigued by the decor but trying to get table for a group of 8 wasn't easy. The wait staff wasn't very friendly and seemed as if they were doing us a favor putting the tables together. Finally we got a room in the back area to accommodate our party. The place is does have a nice historic charm but unfortunately the table we got was near the restrooms and had a foul odor in the entire room. Never the less I'm always game to try some authentic food regardless of the set-up and the food was very disappointing. You could get better guacamole from the grocery store and the enchiladas were mediocre for the price. I probably won?t come here again for the food but would for the music and a beer. Pros: Interesting venue in the band area and decor Cons: not so great food, dirty bathrooms more

still the best after all these years!!! 5/28/2009

I've been going to Last Concert since the 70s and loved it then but it got even better when Dawn took over! The food is consistently wonderful the service is consistently friendly and efficient and WHOA, where else can you go to see such a cross-section of people!!!! Then there's the music...and the Watermelon Festival...and the margaritas!! Congratulations to Dawn for making the place what it is!!!! Pros: fantastic soup, service and scenery (people watching) more

Okay for music, but the food leaves alot to be desired 3/9/2009

I ate here with my girlfriend as she needed a Tex Mex fix. We detoured here on our way to Ninfa's on Navigation. We should have stayed the course. The food seemed as though it was right out of a bag from the grocery store. The tortillas were clearly out of a package, and the chicken in the fajitas was dry, and lacked any flavor. I would go here to see the bands but steer clear of the food. Pros: Good Music Cons: Food lacks in every way more

A piece of Montrose east of downtown 7/18/2008

Love this place! It is a wonderful Houston institution and you have to know where it is or you'll never find it(obviously, a gps will). This place has soul and yummy food. The atmosphere draws me into Last Concert, and the food is an added bonus. Keep on going for another 50 years+!!! more

A hippy haven in the shadow of downtown 6/28/2008

This place is great to goto in the evenings with live music and good food. The people there are laidback and friendly and its for the most part outdoors, so it's great if your a smoker. more

Great place for Tex-Mex and live music 12/27/2005

Years ago during college vacations in Houston, I would come to see shows here, down sangria & nachos, & attend the annual Watermelon Festival for daylong live music. I live in NY now & visited recently. The ambience is still fun & cool. The food is awesome -chips are irresistable, tacos tampiquenos (?) were tasty & great, esp w/ the wheat tortilla option, service friendly. I see they've expanded the stage area; years ago, the stage was in the back patio & you watched from the tables; now there's a whole new area for viewing the band back there. The music was fine the night we went & the crowd was a little high maintenance for my taste (because it was Friday or cuz of the band?), but it's so great that there's somewhere in Houston that has live music every night! A cool local place. Pros: Great Tex-Mex, Cool place Cons: 2 restrooms only more

We have great customers! 6/10/2002

I work at Last Concert Cafe and really love it. I would like to say thanks to our customers, who are the best around. At lunch, we cater to those who need to get in an out within and hour; at night, our customers have more time for a leisurely meal. Either way, we hope that we make the experience pleasant and relaxing. more
