Best in valley... 5/10/2010

I've been coming here for about 2 years now, and I have never written a review for a restaurant before. But I have to deviate from the norm and tell about this place. This is hands down the best mexican food in S.F. Valley and I would dare anyone to say different. They have an expansive menu that is reasonably price. I would say under-priced for the quality of ingredients used. I'm a certified chef, and in my opinion their gringo-style carne asada burrito is the bees knees. Even after the next day...just throw some salsa on it and crema...wow I'm getting hungry now. Seating can be a hassle, but its definetly worth it. To sim it up, this place rules... more

Difficult to find better 4/10/2010

I've been going to Las Fuentes for years now. It is one of the better Mexican food restaurants in the city, much less the Valley. Las Fuentes is not in a strip mall, or shopping center, or a restaurant row. It is inconveniently located between two automotive garages in a highly congested area in Reseda. Parking also can not be your friend here. There really isn't any, and you need to grab a space where you can. Once you make it into the restaurant itself, you'll usually wait in line for a bit, and see a large varied menu of Mexican food on the wall to order from. You'll notice prices are quite reasonable for most dishes, even their dinner plates. (I recommend their tacos and burritos.) You do have to find your own seating, which when its busy, can be a hassle. You also have to get your drinks, and pick-up your own food when they call your number, but all-in-all, not a big deal when you receive your food. The salsa bar is one of the best I've seen and is constantly being cleaned and refreshed. All of the dishes they serve are excellent quality, and if anything, they give you too much of it! Meat and quality ingredients are never skimped on, and in comparison to what you pay you'll realize how good a deal this really is. They have already expanded the restaurant once, and its still crowded pretty much all the time The staff is always friendly and personable, and you'll always leave satisfied. Pros: Excellent quality mexican food Cons: Seating more

You'll never go anywhere else for Mexican food -even Mexico! 11/28/2009

This is the best Mexican food around. So good that you will see people from Mexico dining with you. It's wonderful and fresh. My family and I can't have Mexican food anywhere else. Nothing measures up to Las Fuentes' quality, freshness, salsa (yum) and the great family who runs it. Pros: Fresh and Fabulous Mexican Food Cons: Sometimes finding a seat more

The best carne asada EVER! 10/23/2009

No other mexican restaurant compares to this place. Everything on the menu is amazing. more

Easy in and out 10/16/2009

Las Fuentes is the ideal place to have a delicious, convenient and atmospheric lunch. The food is plentiful, the d?cor is bright and cheery and the service is fast and reliable. I like the fact that you can order and the counter and pay when you order so there is no fighting over the breakdown of the bill at the end. Pros: Pay upo front Cons: Not enough parking to handle the mass more

Great Tacos! 12/9/2008

This place is hidden but check it out because the tacos are the BEST! Also, try the chicken soup they make. more

Best Mexican Food in the Valley 1/22/2008

Best Mexican Food in the Valley, specially for a restaurant. Can't find it better then this place unless you make it yourself. Pros: Variarity Cons: Sitting space is limited more

Perfect Ambiance, adorable inside, great Mexican food (location is not in the nicest area). 12/31/2007

First timer and was surprised by the adorable setting!!! Although the restaurant was not in the nicest area, the restaurant, itself is SUPER cute restaurant! Whether you are on a date or out with the buds (GIRLS NIGHT!), this place is so colorful, bright, and cheery! The service I received was excellent - smiles from the staff! Got helped right away. Food = excellent...tastes quite authentic. Fresh ingredients. Love the burritos - carne asada style! Fresh Guacamole too! Great chips as well. Loved the beans and rice. Burritos were quite large, by the way...so you can take some home for later midnight snacks! Delish! Next time I'm in the mood for Mexican food, I'm so going here! :D More authentic than Hugo's Tacos (not healthier, but better tasting!!!). They take orders to go as well!!! Pros: Adorable setting, great food, fresh guacamole, good service, food doesn't take too long! Cons: The block it is on is kinda busy. Unsure about parking. Call and see! more

Hands down, THE BEST Mexican food. 12/4/2006

I have never been less than completely satisfied with Las Fuentes food. The food is great, the prices are great, and the service is great as well. The cuisine and selection is excellent. You can find all the basic mexican food categories as well as some of the more traditional disehs. Pros: Excellent quality, excellent, price, excellent service. Cons: Crowded at times, but mostly because its so popular. more

MY Spot 10/24/2006

When I was 17, I moved to So Cal from No Cal. I moved to Reseda and almost immediately found Las Fuentes Restaurant. This was 1985 and back then it was a ""hole in the wall"" with awesome food. As the years went by Las Fuentes grew and the decor...wow. The food is wonderful. I've never had a bad experience. The only downfall to MY spot is the limited parking...talk about fight for a parking spot. Also, the wait can be long but what do you expect from the best place to eat in the valley. I would love for Las Fuentes to buy out the mechanic shops next door and expand their parking. Pros: Food and Decor Cons: Parking, Parking, Parking...Did I mention PARKING??? more

Affordable Mexican food, big portions 7/8/2006

I've gone to both Las Fuentes locations and have not been disappointed with either. Service is prompt, even with having to pick up your food at the counter. The ambiance is very casual but can be loud and very busy at times. I've tried just about everything from the burritos to the plates and each time have felt more than full after eating. The salsas are always fresh and tasty. The food is affordable and will not be disappointed by the menu selections. The only drawback would be that this place doesn't take credit cards and parking can be cramped at times. If I'm in the valley, this place is always on the top of my list provided I'm in the mood for Mexican food. Definitely in the 9s range and have recommended this place to numerous people. more

my favorite mexican in LA- by far!! 7/3/2006

I tried this restaurant after a few friends said ""it's a must""... but was expecting the same old mediocre mexican (think Casa Vega... no thank you!). After getting over the enormous menu plastered on the wall, I ordered... and I became a loyal customer! The food is EXCEPTIONAL... very tasty, very authentic, and very quick! I was thinking maybe Baja Fresh because it was more like ""fast food"", but boy was I wrong! Everything I've had there is better than good, and it's very affordable. Don't expect a romantic evening... this all about people (in small groups) having fun, chatting it up, and being super casual. Believe me, you won't be sorry... no matter what part of the city you live in, this is worth the drive! Pros: amazing food, pretty quick service, very affordable Cons: tight parking (if available), not large-group friendly. more

delicious 4/4/2006

tried the carne asada burrito. loved it. big chunks of flavorful juicy steak, fresh avocado slices and whatever else you desire. gonna try it with the special sauce next time. best mexican i've had in Los angeles (maybe loteria grill is up there too). try it out for sure. plus it's cheap!! Pros: inexpensive, great tasting food Cons: crowded more

Good Food, Good Price 2/5/2006

The food was pretty damn tasty. After reading a few good citysearch reviews I decided to try it out and it was good. Finding parking was a bit of a problem but we parked around the corner and walked. I got a Carnitas burrito ""gringo style"" and it was great. I only had 2 problems. 1) You dont get free chips. Cmon now... what mexican restaurant doesnt give you free chips? 2) No free refils. It's the 21st century. Everywhere should have free refils. Other than that the food was tasty and Id definatly go back. The biggest seating they had was 4 person tables, so dont go with a group, and definatly dont go during the lunch rush unless you're looking to wait. Pros: Good Food, Fun Ambiance Cons: Long Wait, Poor Parking, No Free Refils! more

The Best of The Best: Mexican Cuisine 11/14/2005

Ever since I was a baby, my parents have taken me to Las Fuentes and it stands the test of time. From its amazing burritos gringo style to its' homemade horchata, Las Fuentes is as authentic as mexican food gets. I love the atmosphere and feel I get when I sit inside the restaurant. It gets pretty busy though, so get there before the lunch and dinner rush! Pros: Inexpensive, Fresh Food Cons: Tough Parking, Crowded sometimes more

Unbelievably tasty 11/9/2005

This place is the valley's best kept secret. Coming from a mexican family myself, i am pretty hard to impress when it comes to mexican tastes. This place is just sensational. My favorite is also the simplest, easy-for-americans item on the menu -- the burrito de pollo. The ranchero sauce they top it with makes all the difference, when I order a tostada, I have it with Ranchero sauce as well. The chicken soup tastes just like my grandmother's and I love the salsa bar!!! They only take cash or debit cards but the prices are inexpensive! Pros: AMAZINGLY TASTY, inexpensive, authentic Cons: tough parking, can be busy more

Wow, This place is GREAT!! 9/12/2005

My friends have raved about this place for years. I happened to be in the area during lunch hours on a Saturday. I had Carne Asada (steak) tacos. At $2-$3 each they were an incredible deal, loaded with freshly grilled steak. Later that evening, I had such a craving, I went back. I had a machaca (shredded beef) taco. Stuffed with meat like the carne asada, but spicier and fantastic. I also tried an asada burrito. Unlike most places that skimp on meat, here, you may feel like there's TOO much. It was huge and for about $5-$6, you can't go wrong. I tried my friends enchiladas and chile relleno. Awesome, too. One con: it is difficult to find parking and when busy (which is usually) it can take 10-20 minutes to get your food. To go orders are great, call ahead and save your entire wait in line. Pros: Amazing value, great variety, prepared to order Cons: Crowded, Parking more

A Valley Institution 5/30/2005

I grew up in the SFV, so Las Fuentes is near and dear to my heart. It is the best place to go for authentic Mexican food. The carne asada is absolutely perfect. The flavor of their food is unparalleled. I usually go during off hours and never on a Sunday afternoon when the place is slammed with after church lunchers and noisy kids. Other than that, you can' t beat it. I've never had a bad meal here. And even though I now live in the city, I gladly make the trek to this magical restaurant to get my fix. Que sabroso! The 818 knows what's up! more
