Great hospital but billing is really bad 2/23/2012

The hospital staff was great, but the billing is really awful. I went in by ambulance after having a heart attack. The total bill for this was over $200,000 and I don't have insurance. I have been unemployed for over two years, have no savings left, no retirement savings and my unemployment ran out months ago. I have $0 income, and own no property. I applied for their charity and they said I didn't qualify because my income is too high, lol. I sent all documentation but they said, and I quote, "we don't care." Now they call me 2-3 times a day telling me that if I don't start paying them $9000 a month they will sue me. They don't seem to understand that I want to pay them and when I go back to work I will send them monthly payments based on whatever I can afford. I will probably end up filing bakruptcy to get rid of this, and they will end up with nothing. I have even spoken to a couple of people higher up in admin, and they just say that the billing department has the final word. Stay away from Las Colinas Medical Center if you don't have insurance. They will tell you that you can fill out a charity application, and not to worry because it will all be okay, but they lie. It won't all be okay. They will drive you to bakruptcy because not even homelessness is considered a charity case to them. more

Terrible customer service 9/17/2010

The staff in his hospital are rude, whether it's in the emergency room or OBGYN procedures etc., just very rude AND they can't get your contact information correct. Don't go here. more

Do not go to this hospital 8/31/2009

We recently had our baby at this hospital and could not have gone worse. If you want a hospital with doctors and nurses with ownership, this facility ain't it. They love to say 'it's not my fault'. Please don't go here. more

Great Hospital 12/2/2005

This hospital is so such a great "small hospital" The staff that I have encountered have all been very nice with the exception of only a few and they were still nice, just not as friendly as some of the others. The hospital is very clean and professional. I have only been in the day surgery wing but would trust it for other needs as well. The doctors affiliated with this hospital are also professional and nice. Highly reccommend if you are in the Las Colinas area. more

Good Experience with Labor and Delivery 7/28/2005

I had my son at Las Colinas Medical Center, and it was a very positive experience. There are private rooms in separate wings for labor and delivery versus post partum. The rooms were very spacious considering you are in a hospital. Almost all of the nurses were friendly and very helpful. The nurses in the nursery took very good care of my son. They are very pro-breastfeeding, and have a lactation consultant that can help you if you have any problems or concerns. They also offer several classes before the baby arrives to help prepare you for childbirth, breastfeeding, and caring for a baby. more

Getting better 6/19/2005

Ok - need to edit this one... I still would be careful of the ER here, but I must say that this hospital has jumped up since I was last here. I ended up going for surgery here and even came through the ER without too many problems. They were still a bit off - not quite a confidence builder - but the doctors and nurses were top notch once I was admitted! This hospital is great if you are having a baby and I believe it is even nationally recognized for this. However.... This is NOT the emergency room you would want to go to. Example: My wife was in an auto accident and was taken here. After waiting for quite a bit of time she was taken in for examination for complaints of severe back and neck pain. At no time was a collar placed on her to prevent spinal injury! When it was time for her to get her X-Rays a nurse came in and was going to take the wheel chair she was using and said that my wife could walk she needed the chair for a woman in labor. more

If you are dying, try to go somewhere else 6/18/2005

I have been rushed to this ER twice for medical care, and I must say, the middle of the night crew is not a very happy one. I was in a car accident and was told to walk down to the X-ray area for my X-rays. My husband was livid and got a wheelchair for me, because I could barely move my neck. The customer service is completely lacking in these so-called "nurses". I'm not sure why they are nurses - they certainly don't leave you with a warm fuzzy feeling. I will try my best to stay away from this ER if at all possible - and I tell everyone else to do the same if it is late at night. They seriously need to change the way they handle patients. more
