Excellent customer service! 7/22/2008

I love this restaurant! Everyone in my office goes here when we have business lunches. Everything I've had here is great! I love the Spa menu. It was so much food and I didn't feel guilty about eating it all. I love the chicken & brown rice dish. It sounds so boring and I only ordered it because it sounded ""Healthy"" . I was amazed at how good healthy could taste. Their desserts are fabulous as well. They change them regularly. I've had the chocolate bread pudding (to die for) and also the carrot cake (Love it). The service is also amazing. I had my Birthday dinner there and they took such good care of us. They put us up stairs on the balcony. We had the whole place to our selves and our own waiter. Who was amazing! He actually ran to the store for us. I really can't say enough about how great the owners and all of the staff are. All of my friends were so impressed and love it so much that we are all going back. Pros: Great service, food and ambience. more

You have to try the calamari appetizer 7/19/2008

You must find the time to visit this restaurant!!! What make it so special is not only the variety and tastiness of its food, but the service. The aim, as we see it, of this restaurant , is to provide a family type environment with warmth and home style cooking. What takes this eatery to the next level is the pleasant addition and tastes of California style cooking. They go out to their way to provide an interesting menu that will bring you back, even if the fireplace isn't burning. We're extremely satisfied customers who aren't afraid to recommend Larchmont Grill to family and friends. Pros: everything Cons: none more

Ask for Cory! 7/18/2008

My family and I went the the Larchmont on the night of our arrival in L.A after three weeks of traveling through Europe and New York, and it was the best dining experience we've had the whole trip. We had made a reservation so we were seated straight away, on the balcony outside. It is not a large place and you couldn't have fit any more than the seven tables on the balcony, but the soft lighting and attractive but minimal decor made the area seems spacious and our space very intimate and secluded. Our waiter, Cory, was the friendliest, most helpful waiter we've had, and even though he accidentally knocked a Coke into my lap, he made it impossible to be upset - it was a fun night with his familiar and eager-to-please attitude. He went out of his way to make the spill up to me, bringing complimentary dessert at the end of the meal and chatting to us long after our meal was over about must-see attractions in LA and the less touristy places to visit. Tired, and prepared to eat anywhere after our long flight, I believed I had "settled" by going to a grill... the name conjures images of Ranch themes and barbecue sauce, but the food was divine. I am no expert critic, but we all know what we like, and it was all drenched in flavors that matched each other perfectly. I played it safe, ordering the pan seared chicken with vegetables, but even a dish that has such potential to be boring made my taste buds buzz. Plus, all the meals were very reasonably priced. The Larchmont is a great experience for couples, families and groups of friends - all of whom we saw dining and seemingly having a similarly wonderful experience as we did. Pros: The service, the food and the atmosphere. Cons: The Coke in my lap! But I doubt this a regular feature of the restaurant.... more

Wonderful service and presentation. 7/13/2008

We had one evening in L.A.(live on Long Island) and wanted our restaurant experience to be the best possible. We had heard excellent things about LARCHMONT GRILL, and my wife and I went with our son and his partner, and our expectations were more than fulfilled. My shrimp pasta was superb, and a mac and cheese appetizer was richly delicious. Our meals were topped off with a shared pear tart that was a masterpiece in both taste and presentation. The service was flawless and the tone was relaxed and competent. We highly recommend the restaurant and will definitely return when next in Los Angeles. Pros: Presentation, service, value. Cons: None were apparent. more

A perfect fit every time 6/25/2008

I have been several times, sometimes with the family, sometimes just with my husband, sometimes just the girlfriends, and in every circumstance this is the perfect fit. Great food quality, great choices, interesting selections, great service, the employees are just real, nice people. Tuesday is 1/2 price wine night! I have loved it every single time, and we eat out often, so we know good food. I read one review that labeled them expensive, I must say, that I find ithe prices very reasonable for the quality of food you are getting, so the other reviewer was either inexperienced or unrealistic as a diner. Absolutely a YES. Pros: Darling house, great neighborhood, good food. more

Very Cozy; like a friends home 5/15/2008

This restaurant is truly darling. I have been three time and have been impressed each time. I am on a limited budget and am happy to tell you each time I have been to this restaurant I have enough leftovers for breakfast the next day. They are not only kind and accommodating they give so much food for each entree. I am on a limited budget and am proud to say that larchmont grill is in my neighborhood. I love how cozy and friendly the staff and owners are. They deserve a visit; but I don't want them to get too popular, I want to be able to get a table every week. Love this place!!! Burger Night for the Vega-Mite! 5/15/2008

WoW! I headed here to write a glowing review of my experience of the Larchmont Grill when I read another review that had just come in... I know who they were- I was seated right next to them!!! They wrote such a bad review and it just made me MAD! They made it seem like they knew so much about food and so shabbily cut down everything they ordered- Now it is time for all of us to laugh- The reason why I remember them is the decanted wine! The sweet waitress (she was ours too) was trying to decant the wine so it would not the dump the sediment into their glasses, and the guy said 'Oh it is ok we will drink the sediment- it wont hurt us!' What a moron- yeah that guy knows what is good!!! Unhappy people we thought and now we know for sure! Pros: Food, Service, Quality, Staff, Location Cons: Table could be bigger to fit all our food! more

I LOVE THE BURGER NIGHT AT THE LARCHMONT GRILL AND I AM A VEGETARIAN! They have such a great veggie burger- I was so excited at the new addition to the menu AND they have sweet potato fries- oh my lord I was in heaven! My husband had the Salmon burger and he was just thrilled too- juicy and huge and the home cut fries were just delish! Our waitress is a veg too and she suggested the tempura string beans to start with along with the Oven roasted beet Salad and when she said it was great she was not kidding! The tempura beans had a soy ginger and chipotle aioli dips and we just kept dipping! The beet salad had red and gold beets asparagus baby spinach AND pears- together they exploded with flavor. We also splurged on desert (don't judge, don't hate!) and the hot cherry pie was so very delicious, I cannot remember a better slice! To top off the wonderful food (and great value!) the service was superb, our waitress was so sweet, thoughtful and attentive- her warmth was very real. The rest of the staff were also super friendly and courteous- they make coming to the grill like coming home. Try it out on Wednesday nights for burger night. even if you are a Vega-mite! Pros: Food, Service, Quality, Staff, Location Cons: Table could be bigger to fit all our food! more

Best Filet Mignon I Have Had In A Long Time 4/16/2008

Where do I begin? Must say this cute and cozy craftsman style eatery is on top of it's game. I was first greeted by Mark, the owner of this bungalow. He seated us quite quickly with a great smile and tasty items. Of course I went for the Filet and I'm so glad I did. It's so hard to find a really good steak in this city, well now I can stop looking. The steak was amazing!!!! It melted like butter in my mouth with so much zest and flavor. Mark recommended a wine that suited my order and my bf from one of there many, many choices. Thanks Mark for a wonderful meal that made our Valentines Day memorable, sorry it took a while for the review. I'll be back for lunch soon too. Pros: The friendly staff with great humor. Cons: not offering a wheel chair, to wheel me out after I devoured my meal... Yumm!! more

Quaint setting 4/14/2008

We went this past Sunday early @ 11:00am had reservations from open table. I ordered the French Toast & my 17 year daughter got the tradtional country breakfast. Beautiful atmosphere, music was at a level not to be distracting, cozy setting, modern features and excellent service from the gentleman (who I believe is the owner) at the front door, to the busser and wait staff. It was getting busy by the time around noon we left. The French Toast was light and fluffy, my decaf coffee strong with a good flavor, orange juice nice not to tart. My daughter enjoyed her breakfast but it was the basic eggs, bacon... nice tasting bacon, not to greasy, breakfast potatoes okay lightly seasoned not crispy enough on the outside for us but I think most would be happy with them. Over all I will be back with friends there was a good varied selection on the menu so I look forward to discovering what else they do well. Seeing as I am in the Industry I tend to be picky but I heard from other tables around me that for the most part, these were frequent guests. Respectfully Reviewed Pros: Excellent Attentive Service, wide variety on menu, nice overall setting Cons: Parking can be a challenge on a busy day/night, tables are close together more

Good food & wine, nice atmosphere, good nightly specials 3/13/2008

I took my boyfriend here for his b-day and we both loved it! Since moving to LA a little over a year ago and thoroughly enjoying the wide variety of ethnic food available, we have struggled to find a good bistro/American style restaurant. I think we might have found a new favorite. Larchmont Grill has something for everyone ? salads, vegetarian pastas, fish/seafood dishes, and lots of options for the carnivores. We had the crab cake appetizer ? it was one of the best I have had not in the state of Maryland. Radicchio salad was amazing ? the items selected for it were such a great compliment to one another ? manchango, fig, pecans. YUM! I had the grilled pork chop ? great flavor and sauce. BF had the grilled rac* of lamb, which was definitely the highlight of the meal. I am not usually a huge fan of lamb, but the lamb is what I would order on my next trip to Larchmont Grill. Even the sides were done very well. We had a bottle of NZ white and glass each of Paso Robles red. Both were very good. A little bonus ? they have nightly specials! Wed. night buy a bottle of wine (which we did) and your appetizer or desert is free! Tuesday was ? price wine, both by the bottle and glass. I don?t remember all of the other specials, but every night had one. The service was friendly; attentive without being annoying or overbearing ? the waitress always showed up at the table at just the right time, not too interruptive. My only regret ? we were too full for desert. I am sure it would have been tasty as well. The price was what I expected it to be. They also serve lunch and have weekend brunch. I think I might need to talk BF to going there for Easter Brunch. Although it won?t be difficult to get him back there at all. Valet parking, but we easily found free street parking just a block away (on side street off Melrose at strip mall just west of restaurant). Great place for a date. Indoor and outdoor seating available. Pros: Everything we ordered tasted great! Cons: Not enough room in my stomach for desert. more
