worst in the metro 1/19/2010

This is the worst theater in the metro. The screen is the smallest I've ever seen(Well, maybe larger than the nearby Lagoon and the Saint Anthony Main but they are all insanely small compared to regular screens in a multiplex) and it is dirty. Ironically on their website they claim this is the largest screen in the Twin Cities. How ironic!! ALL seats are broken. Believe me. ALL. You can't find a single seat without a hole in it. It smells. The only good thing about the theater is it shows firsthand some independent and foregin movies. However, it is absolutely not worth the money. Do not go and do not take a date with you. It is embarassing seeing a movie in such a shithole. For regular movies go to the AMCs for large screens and stadium seating and only 5$ Monday--Thursday any time, including the nights, or if you want a wonderful experience, go to the near Kerasotes ICON theater in St. Louis Park. For the indepedent or foreign movies that don't show besides the Landmark theaters, wait for the blu-ray or DVD and watch them in your sofa on your big screen TV. It would be a much better and more comfortable experience than going to this overrated overpriced so-called theater. Pros: selection of movies Cons: everything else more

Go for the film, not the theater 8/2/2002

It's not great, but at least they show good films. It could use an update, especially the seats. Usually a film will play here for about 6 days and then move over to the Lagoon. I wish we had a more modern, comfortable Landmark Theatre here, but we don't...except for the Lagoon...so, support and see the films, not the surroundings... more

Best Theatre in Minneapolis 7/13/2002

Yes, it's a little run down, we've all ripped a pair of pants on the balcony seats, and the leg room can suck sometimes (that's what the bars are for, resting your feet on). Despite all these things, this is my theatre of choice. The staff is great, you can talk to them about their movies and they're not movie snobs or full of themselves. I know that they have been petitioning their owner to fix things for 6 months or so, and haven't been getting any responce. It's not the theatre's fault that it's a little run down, it's the owner's. I fully support this theatre, and if you want to see something beautiful, look for old pictures of it during it's opening, way back. Absolutely beautiful stuff. I also highly reccomend the midnight movies... They're always a blast. Pros: Great Movies, Great Staff, Fun Atmosphere Cons: Balcony Seats Suck, A little Broken down, Smell the bathrooms.. more
