Lambda Rising Bookstore 5/28/2006

This is a little store located on Connecticut Avenue in DC. The store specializes in products for the local gay and lesbian community. The sell books, dvds, cds and other items that focus on this issue. A former coworker of mine now works here. I’ve been in here a few times and the people who work here are very friendly. more

Lambda Rising 5/4/2006

Lambda Rising is a great little bookstore in Dupont Circle, with a focus on the gay and lesbian community. Besides a multitude of books, they carry a good selection of other stuff, including dvds, cds, magazines and novelty gift items. The staff is very friendly, helpful and always seem to be having a good time. I'm not too familiar with this aspect, but it's my understanding that the store does a lot of community outreach, too. more

Lambda Rising is a popular GLBT bookstore in Dupont Circle. They have a great selection of books and magazines. They have a very complete selection - you should be able to find any GLBT-related book you could possibly want. If they don't have it, they will order it for you. A cool little store in a great spot. more

Great gay bookstore 8/20/2005

This small but well-stocked bookstore specializes in gay and lesbian titles and related gay and lesbian "themed" merchandise (postcards, cards, pencils, etc). It is a welcoming place and, at a time when the neighborhood is becoming less idenfiably gay and more identifiably yuppie, a good reminder of how DuPont's popularity as a gentrifying neighborhood began. more

Good book bad service 8/17/2005

The books were pretty good, though the place smelled like my grandparent's house. I didn't like the service much, i tried to ask for help finding a book but the owner just said hold on so he can read a magazine. But all in all it was ok, i finally did find the book i like and it was fairly price and in good condition. more

Gay themed bookstore 8/15/2005

This bookstore is a mishmosh of books and gay/lesbian paraphanelia. If you want gay pride soap or candleholders this is the place to go and they have a nice selection of gay-themed literature as well. However, this is not the place to take children, if you don't want them exposed to pornographic images. I once saw a family in there with a five year old kid who was looking at the postcard selection featuring more than a little nudity. more
