Lam's Garden is a restaurant on east Colonial, across from the Colonial Plaza shopping center. They serve very authentic Chinese food.
My first visit to Lam's was with a friend who has a remarkably wide experience of Asian food. Another friend had said that he had found, finally, the place to get good Chinese food in Orlando. But when we went in, my friend was disappointed because the menu seemed to be the standard-General-Tso's-chicken range of options.
Then he saw a restaurant employee crossing the dining room with a huge live eel in a net, and knew this was the place. He asked to see the "other menu," and has been a happy customer at Lam's ever since.
If you want really authentic Chinese food, with dishes like eel, hot pot, and ducks' feet, check out Lam's. If you want more Americanized Chinese food, the American menu has got all the usual fast food dishes, and there's a reasonably priced lunch buffet.
Watch out for the crispy wontons they serve as free appetizers; they're addictive.
