Laketown Speed and Sound

A friend referred me to Laketown Speed and Sound for a subwoofer upgrade in my new Lexus and I have to say: WOW! These guys are the real deal. You wouldnt know if by looking at the outside of the store, but once inside, I was amazed to find what I would describe as the best selection of High Quality Car Audio in Utah. I have dealt with Ulitmate in the past and some of the other places like Concepts and Innovative and had some rather frustrating experiences in terms of attitude and lack of follow through. Laketown however breaks the mold when it comes to the typical feeling of most of these types of places. I was greeted and helped right away. Having come from Best Buy, I found this rather refreshing. They showed me a range of products that would fit my needs and actually ended up saving me a bundle. Angel the head installer built me a custom box built into my trunk and completely hid the entire installation behind a custom panel that looks factory. They even were able to get my factory navigation to work and view video while I drive now. Something everyone else told me couldnt be done. They did a Rockford Fosgate 12 that totally finished off my factory system and gave me the bass that I wanted. Everything turned out perfect and they even stayed late to finish my project same day. Thanks you guys I will never go anywhere else. I will definitely refer all my business to you guys and be back for more. Give these guys a try, They have all the major brand names Alpine, Pioneer, Kenwood, Rockford, Monster Cable and know their stuff. I figure I saved about 350$ off of what best buy quoted me and they got my nav system unlocked. AWESOME! Very happy with Laketown Speed and Sound. They were amazingly helpful, knew what they were doing and very reasonably priced. They gave me a quote on the spot and set an appointment to take care of a roof-mouted TV system that had come loose and was hanging. Other places I went to for help, suggested that it could not be fixed and that I would probably have to replace the entire system. Thank you Angel for doing an excellent job and for being so helpful! I will definitely use their services again and highly recommend them. more

Laketown has the best, professional service and knowledgeable staff. They always have time for me, either in person or on the phone, including after the sale. There's a good reason why they've been successful for many years at the same location. So much better than the typical fly-by-night car stereo place! They're my favorite, even when compared to Houston and Los Angeles stores. more

Excellent service! I had some trouble with the alarm after they installed an aftermarket stereo in my Porsche. Angel did a very thorough job troubleshooting and making sure everything worked perfectly! more

From my perception and experience thus far this looks like a good family local run store. They take their business seriously. One of the best things I saw was their warranty and customer service as they were definitely their top priorities. Their prices are competitive compared to all of the local stores and they have a much larger display and in store inventory than any place I have ever been. The first thing I did here was get my tint installed. The store owner was nice enough to drive my car to their tint building about five minutes away and do it all himself. Great customer service. It seems to have gotten a little messed up, probably do to the quick change in temperature, but there are still a few bubbles on it that were supposed to go away after a few days. I called in and let them know my situation and they offered to redo it free of charge, because it comes with a lifetime warranty. Definitely a great thing to hear. To top it off the store owner called me a week later to see how my install was going and if i was satisfied. I definitely plan on going back to get the rest of my car audio installed, as you can all see from the reviews, they do great work, but small mistakes every once in a while are inevitable. more

I knew nothing about Laketown S&S until I was directed there by an XM InstallCard. We made an appointment to have an XM radio installed, and we missed the appointment. I was worried that we might be charged some sort of ""missed appointment"" fee. But no! We just rescheduled as if nothing had happened. Then, initially the diagnosis on the install suggested that we might need to purchase a special adapter to attach to the car's antenna for approx $38 or so. But when I showed up to retrieve the car and pay for the adapter, I was informed that they discovered it wasn't needed because my stereo had an auxillary input they could use instead. The installation was well done, and everything works great! more

I wanted to thank Lake Town Speed and Sound for the work they did on my 2006 Tiburon. I had electrical problems with the car. I took my car into the dealership for them to try and fix the issue. After a day of having my car, the dealership told me I needed a new battery. I replaced my battery as requested by the dealership only to run into the same issue I had before. I contacted the dealership and told them the problem was still there. They told me to bring it in but due to the Memorial day weekend, they won't be able to fix it till Tuesday. As well, the dealership told me it was going to cost up to $500 to trouble shoot the problems. Since I had a lot of aftermarket parts on my car, the dealership didn't know where to start. Seeing how I had a lot of aftermarket parts, I decided to take my car from the dealerhip and take it to Lake Town. The people at Lake Town fit me into their schedule on a Saturday and said they will work to fix the problem the same day. Lake Town closes at 6pm on Saturday. However, they worked until 7pm to make sure my car was fixed. They only charged me $90 to fix my car which was for both parts and labor!!! Instead of paying up to $500 at a dealership and not getting my car till Tuesday, Lake Town worked late on Saturday and were able to get my car fixed at a fraction of a price. I will be going to Lake Town for any of my aftermarket parts from now on. THEY ROCK!!!! Thanks Lake Town!!! more

You will not be disappointed with Lakewood Speed and Sound. They know what they are doing and will make sure you get a system that you will love. Ask for Glen. He is very patient and will take care of you. They didn't charge me for anyting unnecessary and their insallers are amazing!! more

Stopped in to see if they could help me with a problem with my pioneer Navi. It made a loud beeping every time I touched the screen to change anything. They took the time to figure it out and once it was fixed they showed me how to fix it my self. they even whent as far as showing me other cool features on my sterio. I didn't buy the sterio from them but they did all this for free. Prior to this I bought a subwoofer with a built in amp. they said most of the built ins are poorly built but this one worked well and that they would take it back if I didn't like it or changed my mind. No need. I love it! more

Did an excellent install and was on top of the latest equipment. The Alpine that was recommended has great navigation as well as ipod support and backup camera. Will use when upgrading my speakers more

I went in around closing, wanting replace the factory unit in my 370z with a touch screen. They Stayed late and installed it the same day. The install tech, Angel, REALLY knows what he's doing, and he works fast and creatively. He found the PERFECT spot for the back up camera, and mounted it in such a way that it looks stock. He was even able to program the Z's steering wheel controls to the kenwood touch screen, even though JVC never updated the circuit boards with the correct chip-sets after buying out kenwood. Angel manually programmed everything, bypassing the car's auto recognition, and it works perfectly. I'll be going back to them for exhaust and intake upgrades, as well as updating the sound system. So if you see an extremely fast Z harassing you on the road with loud music and erratic driving habits, Don't blame them (I signed liability forms). Glen and John are extremely knowledgeable and personable. I've been to alot of custom shops both in Utah and in Florida... These guys are absolutely the best group I've dealt with. ***UPDATE 4/22/2011 I went back to these guys to get chrome pedals, and a Laser Shifter installed.... Angel, the installer, out did himself. From cutting the license plate to hide wires, to the installation of the kill switch (he took the spot where switches were mounted in the Touring model of the Z, and fabricated a mount with ABS plastic and Black paint to make the odd shaped switch look stock), everything was top notch. The installers they have at this place could take on West Coast Customs and win. I can't wait to get the exhaust and engine upgrades, not to mention seeing what they're going to do with a custom box for 3 10"" subs. Honestly, if you go anywhere else, you're missing out!!! more

My wife and I were both very suprised and happy about the experience we just had having our expedition worked on. I got a totally different feeling walking into this store than I had anywhere else. There was no high pressure sales pitch, we were shown exactly what our options were and were given the choice whether or not we wanted to purchase. They also introduced us to some very cool technology called Pandora and now its something that we use every day. Our salesman John had his hands full with 2-3 customers and still managed to calmly explain what he thought would best serve our needs. The work was performed while we waited and we were shown exactly how to make our phone work with the Bluetooth. These guys care about their customers and the experience they provide them. They had all the best brands and took the time to understand our needs. We highly recommend them and are sure that this store will get big fast. more

Just wanted everyone to know that you can avoid all of the traffic and lines and Christmas mess that you will find at the Best Buy and Mall by going to Laketown Speed and Sound. They helped me right away. Got me exactly what I had been searching for and were 30$ less than Best Buy on the stereo I ended up buying our son for christmas. I was in and out in about 15 minutes and the service was excellent. I was referred by a friend and will refer everyone I know to these guys. more

I found this store off of Alpines authorized dealer locator and was suprised to see a dealer that carries Alpines full line of stereos, amplifiers and speakers. Everywhere else had the stereos but not one carried the whole lineup. I was also happy with how familiar John was with the features and operation of the units I was looking at. He really took to time to make sure that the unit I bought was exactly what I needed. The install turned out great and my car has never sounded better. I would recommend this store over any of the others that I went to in salt lake or sandy. This is my new favorite place for all things automotive. more

HAVE BEEN LOOKING FOR ABOUT A YEAR TO GET THE RIGHT SYSTEM FOR MY NEW RIDE. AFTER GOING TO ALL THE STORES IN SALT LAKE AND BOISE, I HAD A FRIEND RECOMMEND THE GUYS AT LAKETOWN. THEY DIDNT WASTE ANY TIME IN GETTING A GREAT SYSTEM DESIGNED FOR MY TUNDRA THAT OTHER SHOPS HAD TOLD ME HAD NO ROOM FOR SUBS OR BASS. THEY WERE ABLE TO CUSTOM FABRICATE A FIBERGLASS BOX UNDER THE SEAT THAT LOOKS FACTORY AND TAKES UP NO SPACE. THEY WERE PRICED CHEAPER THAT THE OTHER LOCAL GUYS AND DID THE WORK RIGHT WITHOUT ANY PROBLEMS WHATSOEVER. I USUALLY DONT LIKE OTHER PEOPLE TOUCHING MY VEHICLES, BUT I WAS ABLE TO WATCH THE INSTALL START TO FINISH AND WAS VERY IMPRESSED WITH THE METICULOUS WORK AND FIT AND FINISH ON THE PROJECT. THEY MADE THE CORRECT RECOMMENDATIONS ON PRODUCT AND POWER, THEY ACTUALLY REPAIRED A QUESTIONABLE HEAD UNIT INSTALLATION FROM ANOTHER SHOP AND GOT ME BACK ON THE ROAD IN THE TIME PROMISED. GREAT RESULTS START TO FINISH. HONEST AND STRAIGHT FORWARD WITH PRICING AND QUALITY OPTIONS. GET THESE GUYS TO DESIGN AND BUILD YOUR SYSTEM. YOU WONT REGRET IT. I just gotta say, as as girl most electronics places treat you like you are stupid or something. Not Laketown, this was by far the best experience I had at any of the places in salt lake. I rewarded them with my business! It was refreshing to not feel as though I was being taken advantage of. They took time to actually look at my vehicle and got me all the info without feeding me a line of s#!t. I have had systems before and My new Rockford 12s pretty much blow anything ive had or any of my friends have had off the road. You guys ROCK and thanks to you I ROCK too! :{} 5 STARS A++++ more

I actually came into Laketown because of the good ratings that they had online. I was not disappointed. They took the time to teach me the new features and how to operate the radio before I had it installed. They were able to get me in right away without an appointment and kept all of their promises they made with regards to price, performance, and even the amount of time it would take to do the installation. They only carry good product and kept me within my budget for the system. I had a minute to talk to these guys and realized that the employees averaged 15 years of experience and it showed in the quality of their operation. Not the biggest but definitely the best. Do yourself and favor and give these guys a chance you wont be disappointed. more
