Misleading Facilities Fee 12/20/2016

I was charged a facilities fee for an out-patient procedure that is four times the amount the doctor charged for his services. And my insurance covered the doctor's services but declined coverage of the extra fees, leaving me almost $4,000 in red for the procedure that should not have costed me more than $700 all together. What an unfair and sneaky way to overcharge your patients! Stay away from Lahey as far as you possibly can or you might be surprised with a huge bill for non-existent services and a very few options to fight Lahey's horrid billing scheme. more

Misleading Fees 11/10/2009

I was charged a facility fee which Lahey says it charges patients based on using the facility to visit a doctor. A person visits a doctor and pays the doctor's fees assuming that you are paying the fees of using the room where the doctor will see you as well. Lahey doesnt think so. They charge you outrageous fees for using the room where the doctor sees you and tack it on as a facility charge. The facility charge is over and above the doctor's fees. The doctor charges you for using his services. The Clinic charges you for using the room where the doctor sees you. In my view this is a BS fee and should not be charged to a customer/patient. more

Bad experience in emergency room 7/24/2007

I had a terrible experience at Lahey emergency room several years ago. I had a cramp so bad I was completely bent over, unable to stand up, and had to take a taxi to the emergency room. The doctors there pulled at me, trying to force my body to stretch out, which it couldn't do. I was in worse and worse agony. Finally they said they didn't know what it was and couldn't do anything but kept calling in more doctors to physically handle me. But now I was in even worse pain as a result of their rough physical handling and couldn't even stand on my own. They then abruptly dismissed me but I was unable to get much past the outer doorway before collapsing outside, lying against the building for hours before I was able to get up. I was charged about $500 and my very expensive health insurance didn't cover it. I had been in pain when I went there, but the pain I was in as a result of their treatment was far worse. I would not go back. more

Lahey Clinic 7/25/2005

I felt more like I was at a luxury hotel than a hospital when I was a patient at the Lahey Clinic. Every room is a single, with a flat-screen TV and On Demand. The doctors are knowledgeable, the nurses are kind, and the food isn’t even that bad! Located in Burlington, MA, it is a bit of a trip to get there, but definitely worth it! more

The Lahey Clinic 7/22/2005

I had nothing but a positive experience at the Lahey Clinic. I was reccomended to Dr. Cosgrove, the Chairman of the Neurosurgery department, by one of his friends from medical school and was extremely pleased with the results. The Lahey Clinic provides quality care, both in and out of the hospital. The receptionists answer questiosn quickly, the nurses are very kind, and the hospital food isn't even that bad! It's quite a trip to the Lahey Clinic from Boston, but it's worth the time. more
