Their food is consistently delicious, and their portions are enormous. The delivery could be quicker, but the food is so tasty that the wait is worth it. more

The Lasanga was excellent and a huge servering. Plus, the meal came with a small salad and bread. Better yet, there was no extra charge for extra sides of dressing! more

Worst Food Ever/Unless you want to get sick 11/21/2010

I got so sick after eating at this establishment. Now I understand why no one was there when I came in. They were probably all at home sick, just like I was for the next day. Just say No to La Gondola and their bad food and horrible service. more

Horrible owner and horrible service 2/8/2010

My husband and I went here on a Friday night. We didn't realize that this place only had 6 tables. When we went inside at 7:00 there was one table by the door. It was one of those tables that shouldn't have even been there because it was freezing outside and you would have been cold the whole time you were there. We went to the host and asked what they had availble. They said they had that table availble, but that we we would have to be done in an hour and twenty minutes. Seriously? I am going to pay and you are going to put a time limit on it. I asked when they would have any thing else open and they said 10:00, so I took my business elsewhere. The kicker is that I wrote a negative review on a different site and the owner wrote back and personally attacked me by saying ""I'm not going to argu with you, you and I both know what kind of people you and your husband are, your best friend will always be the angry and sad person in the mirror every morning, I hope you and your silent husband are happy at Waffle House"". I am sorry, but that is no way to win customers. This place is not open to feedback and the owner definitely needs a customer service 1010 class. Pros: Nothing Cons: the owner and the service more

Spent $60 worth of food. Received raw grilled calamari, over cook vesuvio potatoes, and dry veal parm. This used to be an excellent place, not sure what happened. more

Best Personal Dining Experience 6/3/2008

This resturant is my favorite ""find"" in the city, I stumbled on the resturant when my car battery died while I was in the grocery store. I have never had a bad meal and the service is always top notch! The Lasagna is a personal favorite of mine. The chef is always willing to make any dish exactly to your liking. In my experience this resturant is the best value in the city - the portions are large and the prices are unbeatable. I highly recommend this resturant! Pros: Parking, Service, Food, Value Cons: Super Busy on Weekends - Make Reservations for dining in more

Below average Italian cuisine 3/9/2008

I have ordered from this place many times hoping it gets better... it hasn't. Calamari- heavily breaded and soggy. Gnocchi- very dense, not at all like true gnocchi are supposed to be. It was in a heavy cream sauce. Disgusting. Bruschetta was good. Wouldn't recommend to others. There are many other Italian restaurants to choose from that are actually authentic and good. more

having been a long standing customer and general advocate of la gondola, I write this review with a heavy heart... while I understand and expect some variation in consistency at a given restaurant, recently I've developed the distinct impression that somehow the business end of things is slowly starting to usurp the very quality experience I had once praised la gondola for.\r \r bottom line: I reluctantly downgrade my rating to average, a place one year ago I would have awarded highest marks (for the category)\r \r let us not forget about that which is most important: the food & customer satisfaction Cons: brandon more

Italian delivery in Chicago tends to be predictible, but this place was much better than the usual. Huge portions (love the entire loaf of fresh bread) and very well prepared pastas. Their meat sauce was great, gnocchi was the best I've had in town after A Tavola, pasta was properly cooked and the spinach soup was fantastic! Highly recommend! more
