La Zarza Lounge

I went to la zarza for my friend b-day party and it was one of the best experiences ever. A group of 10 of us had dinner first and we had the prix-fix menu with sangria included and that was the best sangria, the food was delicious and the staff was very nice and helpful . then we went to the lounge and more friends join us. They have a deals for groups more then 20 people discount prices on beers and house drinks. it was a great experience. i will have my b-day there for sure Pros: best deal in town!!!!!! I celebrated my birthday at La Zarza last weekend. We first had dinner with 14 friends and then we stayed for the lounge.We had a great time, the pri fixe menu was deliciuos and the party afterwords amazing. They give you a section and great offers. i couldnt get a better deal for a large party like mine. Honestly and it looks like i work for them, but the truth is that they made of my birthday an incredible time. I reccomend La Zarza for these kind of events. I was contacted by Tomas Antelo @ La Zarza a month prior to my birthday to plan a party here. I decided to do it there only because he seemed to be offering a good deal and I had read good reviews about the place. ""SECTION RESERVED FREE OF CHARGE, BOTTLE SERVICE IS NOT MANDATORY, NO WAIT ON LINE and DRINK SPECIALS: PARTIES OVER 20 PEOPLE ARE ENTITLED TO DRINK SPECIALS: BEERS AT $4 AND DRINKS AT $6"" It was all a complete lie, either they purposefully ignored us in favor of a larger party or they are such a mess that they lost all of my information. Either way, not good business and for this I will never return and I do not recommend anyone else to patronize this establishment. I emailed Tomas back and forth a few times and decided to have dinner for 8 people (turned into 13) and then I'd have the rest of my friends come later for drinks. I emailed him credit card info and a form to hold my reservation. I called the day before to confirm the reservation and was told everything was a go. I called the day of to add more people to the dinner reservation and the person who answered the phone had no idea what I was talking about. He tried to make it seem like everything was ok though. They took down my info again and asked me to ""please not be late"" since they turn the restaurant around at 11 and the reservation was for 9pm. Everyone got there on time only to have them still not know what we were talking about and so we ended up having to wait 20+ minutes for a table! We were stuffed into a room with a very large party already well underway. They left off one of my guests dinner order and he was left waiting even longer for his food. The sangria was mediocre at best, and then because of their horrendous time management we were forced out without an offer of dessert or coffee. They kicked half of my party to the front of the restaurant which was freezing, saying the space we previously occupied was reserved. So much for my reservation! Drink specials were non-existent but that was the least of it. All in all it was a mess and no one apologized for anything. Had dinner at La Zarza this week...what a nice time, i celebrated my birthday with friends and couldn't choose a better place..trendy, friendly and delicious food. The music is great from beginning to end, we reserved a table for the lounge as well...and couldn't leave til 4am. Honestly, great place. Pros: food, vibe, drinks more

I went there because of this good idea of mixing argentinean and spanish food. I am so glad that it fool filled all my expectations. All the apps were amazing. The calamaris, the empanadas with corn, the gambas al ajillo, the cheese and ham plate,the corn. I didn't really like the hongos portenos,(sweet bread,mushroooms,potatoes and onions).I only had one bite, it was not good. We also share couple entrees. The milanesa with french fries, the argentinean skirt steak(my favorite one!!!), the spanish paella, the veggies crepes, and some more. I didn't really like the chicken. It was very poor.(no flavor) We also share couple pitchers of sangria. blackberry and peach. Our waiter was really friendly with us and gave us an other pitcher of sangria for free!! so nice! And also invited us to stay in the lounge. And that's what some of us did. We went downstairs to the lounge and had so much fun I am going to have dinner again at la zarza!! I celebrated my birthday at La Zarza, and everything was just perfect! The staff was really nice with us. First we had dinner with half of my friends. We ordered a bunch dishes (tapas and main courses) Everything was delicious. The corn, the gambas, the empanadas, the calamaris, the assorted meat plate, the paella,the veggies canelones,etc Also we had pitchers of sangria(blackberry flavor). After dinner we stayed in the lounge, and the other half of my group joined us in our table. We had such a good time. And we didn't spend that much money the had the beers at $4 and the drinks at$6!! We were a group of no more than 25 people. Not even a single person had something bad to said about la zarza. The especial drink deal worked without any problem all night long. The music was the best that the dj could play.We all liked it. The only problem was that we couldn't drink sangria at the lounge. They only have sangria at the restaurant. Also the selection of spanish food and argentinean food is just perfect!! The service is also a good thing at la zarza,friendly and attentive. Having my birthday at La Zarza was one of the best thing that could happen o us. The staff took care of us like if we were family. Also the sangria pitchers and the two for one was very convenient for all of us. The tapas were perfect to share,all the plates were delicious. The prices were really affordable. Everything was perfect !!. The staff was so friendly and attentive. Our section was comfortable and big. We got the drink deal,so our drinks were really cheap during the hole night. I was looking for a cozy and romantic place to met up with my boyfriend. And i ended up in La Zarza. The place is really warm with soft lighting and a lots of candles. (perfect for a date) They had a flamenco music show that made my dinner even more romantic and special We had a great bottle of Liugi Bosca Malbec, that we share perfectly with a nice skirt steak and the paella. For apps we did the soft shell crab and the shrimp. All the food was amazing! Our dessert was yummy but it took to long the same with our coffee. The service was attentive and friendly. REVIEW FROM VERONICA RAMIREZ TO LA ZARZA My first review in citysearch and it goes to La Zarza! I went to this restaurant because a friend told me it was very good...and he was right. I have to say that the sweetbreads , skirt steak and empanadas are great And the sangria is way to far the best that i ever tried!!!. On the other hand , didn't like the salad, it was missing flavor. I love the idea of mixing argentinean and spanish food with a good lounge/club with amazing djs. Its seems perfect for celebrations or just for big groups of friends that want to have fun. You can start a night with a dinner sharing a bunch of tapas.And also sharing one of the best sangrias in the city. And then the dj is going to do his job when it comes to party!!! The switching from restaurant to lounge is easy and we didn't even noticed it. The drinks were cheap and the coktail waitress was really nice and hot!! I am coming back next saturday!!! We went lo La Zarza couple times for dinner before my friend's birthday. I didn't know that this place was also a lounge. We went around 8:00 we ordered food. A bunch of tapas like the calamaris, the empanadas, the croquetas, the patatas bravas the gambas, the provoleta,etc. All this dishes were really delicious. The calamari were the best of the tapas!!! Then for my entree i have the skirt steak. But the best thing on the table was our blackberry sangria,omg!!!!!!!!!! the best sangria that i ever tried in my life, no kidding!!!! you must try it too. Once we were done with dinner the busboy cleaned the hole table, went down and made the dinner table a lounge table. So we staid all night long drinking and having fun. Also they told us that we were more than 20 people so we got a stamp that we showed to the bartender to get half price drink deals!!! Basically everything was perfect! I would like to thank La Zarza staff for the great time I had in my birthday. I was celebrating with a group of 30 people. We had our own section in the lounge to hang out together and comfortable throughout the night. We didn't even have to go to the bar to get our drinks, since the cocktail waitress had an eye on us at all times. The drink special deal for groups over 20 people worked out really well and with no problems. Many places forget about these type of deals the moment you come in. Another thing that I liked about La Zarza was the fact that there was no door drama. Not even one of my guest had to wait on line. The music was really good,the dj in the top floor was amazing!!,but I didn't like the one downstairs that much,maybe is because i don't like house music that much. Also I have to say that the food that we had before our party was yummy yummy,also the sangria. Honestly the best birthday celebration that i could have in a long time.
