La Zarza Restaurant 5/7/2012

La Zarza Restaurant is a total WOW Experience. From the moment we walked in the door, we were promptly greeted and sat immediately. Out waitress was charming and made useful suggestions on the wine menu and food menu. The Tapas were amazing and reasonably priced. We came on a night where La Zarza was offering 1/2 off bottles of wine. What a great idea. i recommend La Zarza restaurant to everyone. 2 thumbs WAY UP!! more

very cool atmosphere 4/22/2012

went by this weekend to check this place out for my girlfriend's bday. They organized everything. We didn't have to worry about anything. They gave us a comfortable section and we didn't have to do bottle service. They several waitresses all night long serving the tables. Very cool. I'll be back soon. more

Awesome 1/4/2012

The food in this place is awesome. You must try the Datiles(stuffed dates wrapped in bacon), Tuna ceviche, the corn on the cob!, the risotto with meatballs and the parrillada(assortment of meat). For dessert the panqueques and churros. I can't believe we ate so much, lol. Everything was good. Service is attentive and the live music was an excellent touch. Coming back soon! more

WORST RESTAURANT I'VE BEEN TO!!! 12/11/2011

I went today for brunch after I got a Dealfind coupon online. Came in the restaurant, it was 1pm, was empty & they manager asked if I had a reservation? & I said no, I have a coupon deal. He said "" Do you have it print it out?"" I said no. I don't have a printer and I hope that's ok I have the coupon and I can email it to you if you need me to. He said I can't let you have brunch. Without me saying another word he walked away. We could have totally stayed but the rudeness and the arrogance that Argentinians have are ridiculous. I thought that was very rude, and UN-polite from the manager. I am a Brazilian and we fight between our soccer teams. Proud people. NEVER GOING BACK THERE AGAIN!!! more

Great place! 11/17/2011

Excellent place. Walked by the other night and decided to give it a try since they had Live Music and the place looked very cozy. Good decision!, the food was very good and the ambience super fun. The Tuna ceviche is to die for and the Veal Chop as well. We got a great red from Argentina, all at a very reasonable price for the quality. One little thing, as we walked in without reservations we were placed too close to the band, it was kinda loud...so next time i'll make sure to call beforehand. Will come back! more

Qualty of food/service does not match price 10/1/2011

$4 for half a glass of ginger ale. $40 sangria that is water down. And they automatically add 18% tip for two people. And leave a spot for ""more tip"" on the receipt. I was treating my wife out to nice restaurant. If the food and service match the price, no issue. I've been to Latin America, and this is average Argentinian food. Except for the crispy calamari, nothing else was memorable. The waiter was mediocre and delivered items late. We received the sangria AFTER we just finished our meal. Half the lamb was over cooked, and the other half was done correctly (medium rare). Had to ask for the standard bread and menu. While the waiter was mediocre at best, the ""helpers"" we good and polite. I wish they would get most of the tip. The low rating is due to the huge discrepancy between quality of food/service to what was charged, charging 18% and calling it ""tip"", and over all experience. I certainly would not recommend this place to friends. more

East Village's great spot for dinner 9/23/2011

An excellent appetizers, great atmosphere and the menu has a great variety for all tastes. Very affordable and great service. Music is fantastic. Wine selection is the best. It is my favorite place from now on. more

Love this place 8/13/2011

Recently moved to the East Village and walked by this sexy place. Nice surprise! food was great from appetizer to dessert. I tried the Tuna ceviche, amazing. I loved the combination of tuna, pineapple and ginger. For entree i choose the trout in the paper, and again really good. Very fresh and soft. The dessert was just great, panqueques with the caramel more

Awesome Date Place 6/3/2011

I went to LaZarza last Friday on a first date, and had a great time! My date got there first, and we were both drawn in by the warmth of the place. The restaurant was full when we got there, and the host told us it was going to be a couple minutes for our table. We went to the bar and ordered mojitos, which the bartender said was his specialty. She got the peach, and I got the lychee. We waited at the bar for around 15 minutes, until we were seated in the front of the restaurant near the open cafe doors. The restaurant has a glow to it, with candles seemingly everywhere, and dark chocolate wood walls and tables. The romantic ambiance definitely made the conversation flow. (and the mojitos didn't hurt either :) We decided to share three of their appetizers, the crocanitos(calamari), the croquetas and the crab cake (which the server told us was a new menu item ) She followed with the paella, and I opted for their Veal Chop. The apps were all delicious. The crab cake was my favorite, with a hicama (sp?) slaw and avocado puree. She liked the croquetas best which were oozing with goat cheese on top of a fig puree. The entrees too were excellent, and there certainly was ample food on the plate. The veal chop was huge, and the paella was packed with seafood, and very flavorful. The service was professional and unobtrusive, and we never felt rushed. Altogether, a great place for a date. We are already planning to come back. Thank you LaZarza! I would give 5 stars, but we did have to wait 15 minutes for our reserved table, and the rating system doesn't allow 1/2 stars, (which it should) more

Worst Dining Experience 5/25/2011

I don't judge, but I just want to describe what happened to us tonight. We bought a $50 coupon on restaurant dot com yesterday, and went to Lazarza today for dinner. It was the first time that we have been there. The taste of this restaurant was OK: it was not excellent, but remains reasonable. The desserts are good, though. more

B Day 4/18/2011

My friend and I had a joint birthday party at La Zarza last week and I can't speak highly enough about the people who work there and the bar itself. We set up the party in the backroom and the was really accommodating and easy to work with. We ended up going with bottle service where we got buy 2 and get one free. In the back lounge we had plenty of room to sit down (although not many did) and partied till 4 AM. Our waitress made sure we had fresh mixer, glasses and ice the whole night and the manager treated us to a champagne toast for all of our friends. It was nice to spend a reasonable amount of money and have the service that you deserve. All-in-all, a superb birthday experience!! more

Great time!!! 3/1/2011

\r I had been to La Zarza once last year and had an fun time, but was a little turned off by the overly crowded bar an the bottom floor. (It was a weekend, so I wasn't that surprised) Regardless of my first experience, I organizing my birthday party with about 20-25 of my friends and decided to give it another try. Because my party was over 20 people we were given two tables and a drink special that included $4 bottles of Bud/BL & $6 Well drinks till 1AM. Everyone I dealt with on the phone to make the reservation was amazingly\r friendly and accommodating. They use an easy email form to book their parties so I knew exactly what I was getting into. ( Not like some places where you show up and they tell you one thing on the phone but you get the exact opposite once you show up.) We got a section close to the bar so it was easy to get drinks. Thanks, La Zarza! We will all be back!\r more

Worst place for a good time 2/21/2011

This place is the worst place to have an event for anyone you care about. Unless you want that person to have a really bad time. The food is mediocre, the service was lame, the waiter was horrible! We made dinner reservation and also asked for a space at the lounge a week in advance, they gladly accepted because they wanted our business but after we got there, everything changed. While at the restaurant were asked to leave the area immediately after dessert for an hour because the wanted to turn the restaurant into a lounge. Upon leaving we were told to speak to the host in about an hour who will take us to our spot at the lounge. When that hour came we were told to wait an other hour because there was a private party going on there mind you this was at 12am. What made it worse was that they had the balls to tell us they didn't promise us a space at the lounge. I reserved a space at the lounge for my party that's why i gave them my credit card a week in advance. I could have gone to any restaurant if all i wanted was bad food. Anyway we ended up leaving in frustration and I to basically apologize to my friends why the people from lazarza are a-holes. The ruined what we thought was going to be a wonderful birthday celebration. Don't waste your time at lazarza, go to place where you and your business will be appreciated. more

Cool downstairs lounge! 12/13/2010

During my senior year at NYU my friends and I went to La Zarza several times. This place is super cool and has a unique layout. The upstairs area is setup as a bar, and downstairs is small but has a clubby/lounge feel to it. The bartenders are all extremely friendly and the drinks are reasonable, $5 for a beer and $8 for a mixed drink. For my friends 21st we did bottle service and planned the party through AccessGotham. We were a group of 35 and we all got in easily with no hassles! Check this place out. more
