Interesting 2/23/2011

Went here 4 an early x-mas party (reservations of course) when we arrived we were looked over (finding out later) due to the fact that our table wasn't ready and they were extremely short staffed (that day). The food was pretty good but I have had better. Monterrey is always #1 on my list and then On The Border. You have to park in the parking deck which is really cramped and usually full. Other than that check them out! more

Best Mexican and Margaritas 8/24/2010

La Paz always haas great food and great drinks. Their drink specials are very good too! From 2 dollar margaritas to muddle your own mojitos. The food is always fresh and comes out very quickly. Best Mexican in Charlotte. more

La Paz 8/19/2010

La Paz has the best Mexican food in Charlotte. Great drink specials, excellent service and a warm inviting atmosphere. I recommend it to everyone! more

Makes me hungry just thinking about it 8/19/2010

La Paz has always held a special place in my heart, and I love to see this place just keep getting better and better. My wife and I dine here probably twice a month, and every time, we get great service, quick refills (Go on Sunday $2 Margaritas) and the food always tastes so fresh. I love La Paz so much I find myself craving it just sitting at home. I always look forward to that first mouth watering chip and salsa, to the last fork full of my combo, and wash it all down with a icy cold beer! more

GREAT!!!! 2/22/2010

GREAT PLACE FOR DAY DRINKING. Especially on a spring/summer Saturday after noon. You can not beat $2 margaritas. Pros: food, service, drinks Cons: bar is a bit cramped when they are busy more

Good Mexican, Large Portions 1/26/2010

Had dinner at La Paz a week or so ago and it was pretty good. I've been here in the past, but needed a refresher since I haven't been here in ages. I ordered combo fajitas, which came with steak, chicken and shrimp, potatoes, peppers, onions and all of the fixings. This was a massive plate of food (I swear I had 15 shrimp on my plate) and definitely suggest sharing unless you have a very large appetite. The flavor of the fajitas was better than anywhere I've had them in a long long time. You can tell that they use higher grade cuts of meat. Service is good, as you would expect in a south end restaurant and prices are fair. Parking is somewhat a cluster unless you valet, which I always do, but to those who do not wish to valet (its complimentary) good luck on a thurs-sat night finding a space in the garage. This restaurant shares a garage with Sullivans and it tends to get a little crowded. Overall, great mexican food, good prices, quality, quantity...all of the above Pros: Fajitas, Cheese Dip Cons: Tables sort of small, Parking if you don't want to valet more

Overated 11/5/2008

the salsa tasted like it just came out of a can..service is just ok..food is way too expensive for the stuff they actually serve you. I've tried and given this place 4 tries now..every time trying something different. It got worse each time. The nice patio and view looking over S. Blvd is the only good thing I can really say about this place more

Food is mediocre at best.. 3/11/2008

The enchiladas had very little sauce, even smaller amount of filling, rice was pre-packaged mexican rice & the salsa was TERRIBLE..new to the area, very disappointed with the first Mexican restaurant I have tried in NC. more

better than ever 3/4/2008

Who ever has done it! The old lapaz is back. We went Saturday night and had to wait for 45 min and it was worth it. The live music was fantastic. It happened to be Jimbo Chapman with Craven Melon. The place was rockin. I had the filet mignon fajitas which were out of this world and my date had shrimp fajitas. The chips and salsa rounded out the meal and as always the margaritas are truely the best in Charlotte. The waitstaff was very attentive even when things weren't quite right. If you haven't been to La Paz in a while it is a must go to restaurant for 2008. Pros: valet parking, music Cons: none more

I gave La Paz one last chance and they blew it! 2/29/2008

I had not had good experiences with La Paz but saturday I gave them one last chance. The waitress forgot the queso dip we ordered, after 15 minutes I asked her about it and she went and got it. I ordered a pork enchilada and a chile relleno, and beef was in my enchilada and not pork. Then, the waitress took forever bringing the check while others got their checks quickly. She took so long coming for our checkcards that my sister took out her card and put down cash to get us OUT OF THERE. The service has not been so good when I was there previously. And outside, they had signs advertising new owners or new SOMETHING. well, there is still a problem...food was all right, it might have been better if I got what I ordered, but a waste of money as a dining experience. Pros: cute inside Cons: bad service all the way around more

best mexican food!! 2/25/2008

La Paz is under new ownership and the food and atmosphere is even better then before !!! best mexican food ever. more

Disappointed. 12/14/2006

$12.99 is too much to pay for rice, beans and a burrito, especially when the quality is average at best. more

It was ok 11/22/2006

I've heard all the raving & am not sure where it is coming from. I've eaten at excellent Mexican & Southwest places & all have put this to shame. I expected good & received average. There was nothing special to the food. Nothing a little different. Nothing above par. I won't say I was disappointed, it was ok, but I wouldn't make any special trips for this. Pros: Nice patio outside, great service. Cons: Food was only average as compared to other places I've been. more

Ole! 11/17/2006

La Paz is a fun place to go for a special occasion. it is a little pricey and very beautiful. they have a fun drink menu and the food is great. it can get very crowded. The bar is small. more

Extremely mediocre food 10/12/2006

There was hardly any seasoning on this food! I was very disappointed in the taste of this food. Luckily, the restaurant is located in a great part of the city. Pros: Great area of town, sealed patio is great for cold/rainy days, good margaritas Cons: Food was not great, service was mediocre more
