A review on Slate magazine touting La Maison Du Chocolat as the best chocolate choice for Valentines' Day lead me to try this candy shop out of sheer curiosity. I didn't have anyone I was planning to buy for but I do happen to have quite the sweet tooth, which is a good enough reason as any in my book.
As the articled warned, La Maison Du Chocolat was not cheap. Of course, looking at how gorgeous the boxes the candy comes in and how delicious everything smells, its easy to see how they can get away with it. I didn't actually buy any chocolate that day but I did indulge in a slightly pricey cup of hot chocolate...which effectively spoiled me from ever enjoying plain old Swiss Miss ever again.
Perhaps one day when I strike it rich I'll splurge on that $60 box of champange truffles but for now I'm simply stick with Lindt if I want some more "upper class" chocolate.
