I live in Old City and will go to La Locanda on occasion. I've had my birthday dinner there two years in a row and LOVED it! Some of my friends want to go back, ""where was your b...

I went with a group of friends (party of 8). They had no ice to chill our wine (and keep in mind it's a byob) plus they rushed us to seat the next group despite us making a reser...

Genoa in Olde City 8/12/2003

Last Friday I had one incredible meal. An array of anti-pasto, a veal chop (medium) with a blueberry demi-glaze, asparagus, and small roasted potatoes, and a little bottle of carbernet I happened to pick up on the way there. Remember to bring cash and when they have lasagna, drop everything at try it. It will literally melt in your mouth. more

My neighborhood Italian spot! 7/11/2003

It's the neighborhood restaurant I always dreamed of -- great, friendly service; wonderful food; fair prices. Seating with reservations is always prompt. The restaurant has a sensational way with fish and seafood, but everything is top-notch. Just remember to bring cash, since it doesn't take credit cards. Pros: Great food, Great service, Very consistent Cons: Cash only more

The Best Resturant in Old City 4/10/2003

The staff and the food at La Locanda are the best you will find. The Management truly care about your dining experience. The relaxed atmosphere is second to none. I have eaten there over 20 times and I enjoy every item on there menu. Everything is freshly delivered just about every day. The prices along with the BYOB make it a very affordable night out! Pros: Staff, Fungi Ravioli, Location more

OldWorld Style! 12/6/2002

La Locanda is one of my two favorite Philly BYOBs. It has a romance and authenticity to it and is charming and quaint. It can get a little noisy and crowded on weekends, but the food is delectable and the service friendly and knowledgeable. Its a must see/taste. more

Savoring 11/13/2002

A small close knit place with great food and atmosphere. Be prepared to wait for a table, it's a small spot, but it's definitely worth it. The food came out so fast we thought they brought it to the wrong table we were so amazed!! For an appetizer, you have to get the mushroom crepes!!! Out of this world!! I got the bronzino fish and it was fabulous. Definitely a spot on my list that I will be walking to more frequently! more

Really cosy and fancy-italian 8/16/2002

This place deserves a visit. The kitchen is open-sight, you'll see how they cook for you, no tricks. Pasta is the real one - try the fettuccine - tasty, solid, with fresh ingredients. Seafood is fresh and matched with tasty vegetables and greens. Service is kind and attentive. Bring your own wine. Really worth the price. Pros: ambience +, fancy italian cusine more

We all agree. . . 7/31/2002

We all agree that this is one of the most unique and comfortable high class Italian restaurants in the city. I've gone with most of my friends and my boyfriend and they all want to go back again. The service is great (don't let the thick Italian accents throw you), the food incredible (some of the best seafood), and the ambiance is unsurpassable. They don't take reservations but you can wait at Anthony's Pub and they'll call you when your table's ready. Pros: staff in the family, Wait at Anthony's Pub Cons: no reservations, possible long wait more

Waiter tasted our food... 7/30/2002

Started off ok with a good appetizer, but turned sour with our entrees. My friend ordered the pork stuffed with carrots. It was a slice of pork with one carrot crammed into it (so it looked like a hamsteak)not exactly what was marketed. But since looks can be deceiving she tried the pork. Ugh, the taste was worse than the presentation because the pork was tough! When we told the waiter, he took it away (without offering another option) and came back mintues later to tell my friend that he had tasted the pork and it wasn't tough, but that she must have cut it wrong! Can someone tell me where then the pork tenderloin cutting lessons are offered? Then we received one dessert to split as a gift but the waiter was rude about it. I would most definitely not go back. Bad food, worse service. Overall bad experience. Pros: good appetizer Cons: rude waiter more
