Best Experience Ever 4/4/2012

I was so pleased to hear that La Caille had gone a new direction. Away from the old tired food and service. I had to try it out. My wife and I had the best meal that we have had I years. The food was perfect the place was clean and the staff provided excellent service. more

Wasted Day 10/22/2010

Shabby brunch on Sunday. Too slow for poor food. Should have stayed home and wouldn't have missed my game and wasted my day. Place has gone to hell. more

We had a terrible time! 7/16/2010

La caille used to be a grand experience, the yards are still epic, yet seem ugly once inside. The food and service were both well below what we expected (and deserved) given the astronomical prices they charge. Management was non-existent, no smiles, and a very bad attitude from every employee we came in contact with. we felt quite ""taken"", and will never return. more

Do They Want My Firstborn Also?? 5/31/2010

After reading some of the bad reviews we had real reservations about eating here. Except for the prices, we were pleasantly surprised. We were a party of seven who had dinner at La Caillle on Memorial Day. We had very pleasant efficient service and patient servers who answered all our questions about menu items. It is possible that our service was better because they were not terribly crowded, but we felt that we received just the right amount of attention. Our food was well prepared and creatively presented. My only complaint is the prices, which are so far out of line words fail me. Our party of seven spent $780 without alcoholic beverages. I live in Seattle (which is not inexpensive), and we could have had that same meal for 1/3 to 1/2 less. The total experience, however nice, was not worth what we paid. I would not recommend this restaurant even though the food is good and the ambience very pleasant. The exorbitant prices outweigh the good points many times over. Pros: Ambience, Good Food, Pleasant Service Cons: COST!!!!!!! more

OVERRATED ! 5/10/2010

YUK!! 5/7/2010

This place has gone so far downhill in the last couple of years it is tragic. Horrible service coupled with terrible food, dirty dining rooms and very steep prices. Obviously no management that gives a hoot We will not be back. more

Not what we expected 4/14/2010

We were celebrating my daughters 16th birthday, and LaCaille is one of her favorite restaurants. Since it is quite expensive, we don't go often. But turning 16 is a big deal, and so I called and made a reservation for Sunday night. When we arrived, aniticpating ordering our favorite appetizers, entrees and desserts, we were told on Sundays they have a set menu, served family style. What a disappointment! Had I been told about the set menu and family style service when I made the reservation, we would have dined elsewhere. And, to make matters worse, the food was not nearly as good as what we order off the regular menu. The prime rib was fine, but it should have been more than just ""fine"". And the salmon was nearly inedible. The miso glaze was gritty and the salmon was the fishiest fish I have ever tasted...\r The service that night was also not what we have come to expect at LaCallie. Overly prompt is the best way to describe it. \r Overall, it was a HUGE disappointment. We will probably go back, since we have had great experiences there before, but NEVER on a Sunday night! Pros: Usually stellar food Cons: Sunday ""family style""dinner more

Absolutely pnenomenal! 2/17/2010

What a perfect place for our anniversary dinner! Everything was fabulous! The wine, soup and salad were fabulous! My meal was cooked to perfection and was beautifully presented. And then came dessert! We decided that we would celebrate our anniversary here every year! Worth EVERY penny!!! Pros: The food was fabulous! more

Nice scenery but.... 1/14/2010

wonderful setting for a wedding 8/5/2009

we just had our daughters wedding and reception at la caille our wedding coordinater was mary she was very helpful with the planning but when it came to sampling the menu she basically absent. at the rehersal she seemed rushed and not caring. at the wedding she was very short and it almost seemed digruntled. she assured my daughter she would be there to insure that the night would go smoothly well mary dissappeared luckly leslie took over. She was the best she could not of been more helpful or more pleasant the staff was great too. there was one server who made everyone feel special. i dont know her name but she worked alot with the immediate family. the food was excellant and the service could not be beat. thank you leslie for all your help and thank you for being so pleasant you made the evening the best. I gave the rating a 4 because of mary take her out of the night and i would have to give it a 10 Pros: wonderful staff Cons: mary, owners daughter more

We did not see any 12/22/2008

The food and service that our party recieved was not as bad as what is described in these posts. The menu could use some update, and the flavors could be improved, but we did not experience ""moldy"", ""stale"" or ""stinky old"" food that some of the other guests have descibed, nor did we see any strange creatures roaming the floors that some other patrons have mentioned. Therefore, we give it a 2.\r We are mainly concerned with the prices that we paid for ho-hum dishes that had no flair or creativity.\r Average price is about $200 per person........far too much for a ""commoner"" to pay unless everything is flawless. LaCaille is far from flawless. The service was O.K. and the lights were nice, yet not spectacular as in years past. more

OUTRAGEOUS PRICES 11/28/2008

I believe the locals here all know that the food and service have always been far below standard. The prices are absolutely outrageous for the low quality food and poor treatment recieved. I believe the tourists will dine here once for the landscape and the lighting, the men in paticular are interested in rumours of ""milf's"" with saggy silicone chests, but will never return. There are many restaurants in the Salt Lake and Park City area that are far better in every aspect, with much lower prices. Pros: view Cons: food, service, treatment, prices more

Stunning place to have an event! Food and service are OUTSTANDING! 11/1/2008

My daughter had her wedding reception at the La Caille this summer and it was truly a spectacular event, accentuated by the elegant and well prepared food and superlative service. Kudos to Kim Rodgers, the La Caille event coordinator, who went out of her way to ensure that everything was absolutely perfect. I see some reviews here that are negative about the food quality and service -- I can hardly believe we are talking about the same restaurant, as our own experience was quite different and extraordinary. A special thanks to the owners of the La Caille as well, who have had to endure all this unfounded negativism. Keeping those idyllic grounds in their full splendor and all the personnel required to reproduce a French experience here in Utah is no easy or inexpensive proposition, and you have certainly achieved something wonderful and memorable here. Oh, and as to food price, prices in mainstream Paris restaurants are way more expensive (I paid $85 for a sandwich), and this amazing Utah locale saves you a ton of money on airfare and lodging expenses by enabling you to experience a bit of France, right here in Utah, for a relatively modest price. Don't let the negative reviews you see here dissuade you from going to the La Caille for dinner, or from planning your special event there. Based on our own experience, you should be delighted! more

EXTREMELY OVERPRICED 10/4/2008

No value. The small portions of low quality food served up by the pimple-faced teenagers with low cut outfits do not justify the INCREDIBLY OVER-INFLATED PRICES that this place charges. Paying over $200 per person for flowers and bunny rabbits is not logical in anyones budget. more

Poor Excuse 8/23/2008

The landscape is captivating\r The food is so bad, it cannot be described\r The service is slow\r The wine list is interesting yet lacking in character\r The prices are over the top expensive \r The overall experience was barely tolerable\r \r Next time you feel the need for a La Caille fix.......go early, stroll the gardens, then leave.\r more

La Caille: The Faux is what's Real 8/10/2008

If you want authentic Mexican food, go to the Red Iguana downtown. Although the same people will probably be preparing it that work at La Caille. Have you noticed that they NEVER advertise their chef ? Because they don't HAVE a legitimate chef. \r \r The negative comments are true here - anyone who has worked there or continues to step over peacock mess to go there have other reasons to keep up the faux image like the faux buildings and faux food. When the GM actually admits on a web site that they are trying to solve the RODENT problem - are you ready to play Russian Roulet with the junta virus ?\r \r This place needs a visit from State and Federal agencies to compare the landscaping crew with the cooking crew and AAA should consider how they pass out diamond awards to the likes of this place. The wine menu is impressive and only charges you 3-4 times what you pay at the Utah State Liquor store, but hey, it will get poured in your face with a girl pouring out of her dress - which after all, is the only reason to shell out big bucks for a Nicholas, Sysco, or Costco based meal. If you want a steak, go to Ruth's Chris. If you wanted Asian food, there's a ton of authentic Asian restaurants to choose from.\r \r Nobody argues that La Caille is a beautiful setting, but even flowers can grow at the dump. The management doesn't care about the service staff, who is under a gag order from all of the press they have received. Please remember to pay the valet guys - they don't receive any of the service fees charged for valet parking, just your $ 1 or $ 2 tip goes into their pocket. My friend valet'd while I served there - I know. I went there for the same reason every male goes there - the only visible breasts in SLC that don't come with cigarette smoke or occasional visits from the cops.\r \r Get the promise of a good time after dinner there, but for value, authentic food, a chef, strict clean standards you're better off at Log Haven, Roof, Ruth's Chris, Trio or your Mom's. more

Dinner at La Caille 8/10/2008

My husband and I went to La Caille last night to celebrate our 37th wedding anniversary. We loved the food and the service was exceptional. I won a $200 gift certificate from my work's Christmas party which covered the meal and the tip very sufficiently! Because of the prices, we will probably never be able to go there again, however, we had a great time. And, I ordered vegetarian dishes that were yummy, so they do take care of us vegetarians. My husband chose the rabbit, and said it was as close to heaven as he'll ever get. Pros: Beautiful grounds, great view, delicious food & excellent service! Cons: The price. more

Great Experience 7/9/2008

I recently got engaged at La Caille and the coordination with the staff was awesome. Kim totally went above and beyond and played the entire event well. She was completly surprised and we are going back to have our ceremony there. All the employee reviews were scaring me a little; but then I realized that the proof is in the service. I will be back to rate our wedding experience.\r more
