The SceneThe dining room resembles a recently converted fast-food joint with a tiled cashier counter and bright blue table linens. The adjoining bar is available for parties, but the noise cascades into the dining area, creating a less-than-intimate dining experience. The FoodThe menu offers a range of simple and satisfactory dishes, but few stand out as notable. The fried calamari is on the rubbery side and the "spicy" marinara has very little zing. A portobello mushroom and grilled-eggplant appetizer is light on the mushroom and heavy on the somewhat tough eggplant slices; but complementary red tomato vinaigrette adds depth of flavor. Overcooked penne pasta is bathed in a thin, but flavorful, white wine sauce. Pizzas are good bets with chewy, bubbly crusts and tasty toppings like sweet caramelized red onions, cremini mushrooms, bacon and roasted red pepper. Traditional toppings--pepperoni, ham, sausage--are also available for mixing and matching.
