Editorial review from Citysearch 9/13/2012

Terrible, Terrible, Terrible... Had to quit in April due to job loss - they continued charging me. Months later they tell me I didn't quit, that I only handed termination paper for my son (who they were not continuing to charge). Months after that they take my 8 year old son to collections apparently changing their minds that they received his quit papers. Will not reimburse. Now taking it to bank for charge back - if bank will not, local courts. Nice job LA Boxing - you had a customer in a bad spot and you dumped on him and his son. I was coming back once I got a job but now we have to sue you and give you all the bad publicity I can conjure in my free time which is plenty-some right now. more

You take out what you put in 6/8/2010

I've been an athlete all my life, and a member of dozens of weightlifting and martial arts gyms in the US and around the world in the Army. With the possible exception of HS wrestling or the US Army Master Fitness school, the LaBoxing workout is the toughest 1 hour workout you will find, I promise you. The ""standard"" instructor-led workouts that they offer 3-4 times a day are like a combination of military PT, PX90, and boxer's workouts with a focus on high intensity cardio, functional/core strength, plyometrics, and flexibility. I've been a triathlete and marathon runner for over 15 years but my bodyfat has never been lower than it is now. I finally have flexibility, and my core strength is off the charts - This has translated into making me a better mountain biker, snowboarder, and recently helped me win gold at a Jiu Jitsu tournament in NC. - A fighting skill that I learned from the Iron Lion BJJ team that trains in the LaBoxing gym in cary. There are other members that have become ranked amateur MMA fighters and the BJJ medals are filling up the gym walls. Sorry haters, this gym is the real deal! Anyone who has seriously trained in boxing or mma knows that you only get what you put into a workout. The trainers are all fighters, very knowledgeable, friendly and their attitudes are contagious! - But you have to put in your work. Getting into ""fighting shape"" is not easy, and I suspect that he people who posted negative reviews simply could not hang and had ""buyers remorse"". Yes on any given day you will find a high percentage of women and people in less than fighting shape at one of the standard workouts. But I guarantee those people will have transformed their bodies once they catch the bug and stick with it for 4-8 months. I guess thats what's great about LaBoxing. They have something for everybody, and will help you meet your goals - whether that goal is lose weight, improve endurance, relieve stress, or learn real fighting arts in boxing, MMA or Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, you can do it in a safe, clean, fun, environment. Pros: Excellent trainers, toughest workout in town Cons: You can get addicted more

Worst Gym in Triangle! 5/13/2010

Like the previous review, I also had a bad experience with LA Boxing. Thankfully, I opted to pay per month instead of a yearly contract. I even tried to get my monthly fee back 2 days after starting. Its really THAT bad. I was lied to about the gym being a real boxing gym. In reality it is just a regular old gym that charges $75 a month and tries to nickle and dime you for everything. They don't teach ANY boxing unless you pay some huge HOURLY rate. Its ridiculous. As if I thought my gym couldn't get bad enough, look at this email I just got from the gym manager. ""Hello, As of Monday May 24th we will be charging a $3.00 rental fee for the use of gloves. We will be offering you gloves at a discount of $64.99 until the end of May. As of June 1st our gloves will be the regular rate of $84.99. A $20.00 savings if you buy now. Our loaner gloves are only meant to be used for the first few classes. If you have any questions please feel free to ask us. We look forward to seeing all of you in the gym on a consistent basis reaching your goals. Sincerely, General Manager LA BOXING of CARY 919-460-1896"" WOW. This gym is now CHARGING for the use of boxing gloves. As if the $75 a month wasn't enough, now you must pay to use gloves. I mean, do they even want customers? This is equivalent to a fitness gym having a quarter slot to use the elliptical. Just for reference, the gloves they charge $85 for, you could easily get for under $20. Here are some for $18. Not great gloves, but definitely better than their $85 crap. If you want good gloves, buy Ringside IMF gloves. They will run around $60. Very very high quality. Back on this gym. This place is a joke. As you can see form their penny pinching and other reviews, their interest is in making money and not customer service. Stay far far away. Pros: Excellent skills in lieing and taking money Cons: Horrible customer service. Horrible everything really... more

Fraud Company. Not true boxing gym. LA Boxing is a joke 5/1/2010

LA Boxing is a fraud. I moved to NC recently and was looking for a new boxing gym to replace mine in Virginia. The only thing I found available was ""LA Boxing"". LA Boxing promised a true boxing gym with sparring sessions every night and personal one on one teaching from boxers. I was wined and dined into a 1 year contract. Big mistake. This place is a joke. LA Boxing isn't a boxing gym. Its a glorified women's fitness center. The sparring sessions I was promised? Yea, they only happen once a week during an ackward time. What about the one on one teaching? Oh thats $50 for 30 minutes. Worst of all. Within two months of starting my membership, I bought a new house 20 miles away from LA Boxing. In Raleigh/Durham Traffic, 20 miles can take upwards of an hour. So pretty much I couldn't go to the gym anymore. I politely talked to the manager at LA Boxing to see if we could work out a deal. They didn't want to. All they would repeat is ""You signed a contract"". Wouldn't work with me at all. I even offered to pay half my contract(I had 10 months left). Half my contract was $400. Thats a good chunk of change to NOT go to a gym. Nope. They wanted the full $800 of the contract and weren't budging. Their contract stated I would have to move 25 miles. I was 20 miles. They didn't care I couldn't come. They just wanted their money. I understand we all need money to get by. I understand they can't just let people get off their contracts for no reason, but when you move 20 miles away and have proof of actually buying a new house, I would think that would be enough resources to get out. Not in LA Boxing's opinion. They care nothing about people. They lied to get me into their piece of crap gym and now even when I can't use their crappy gym they still want my money. Have fun with the bad publicity! Pros: Good at traping you into contracts Cons: Not a real boxing gym. Glorified women's fitness center more
