Best

The Kung Pao Three Musketeers (I think it's tastier with brown rice) has long been one of my favorite meals in Los Angeles. Their Kung Pao sauce really is amazing...so tasty!

Worst

The food is always great here, but they totally jammed me on my GrubHub order. I got there 25 minutes after placing my order, and 5 minutes before they told me it would be ready. ...

One of the best vegan menus in L.A. 2/26/2007

Their vegetarian menu is extensive, and on top of it they'll make any of their regular menu items using one of their mock meats upon request. Their veggie orange ""chicken"" tastes so much like what I remember real orange chicken to taste like that I've sometimes found myself closely inspecting it to make sure its not the real thing (but it never is the real thing, so don't worry about that). I've been going on a weekly basis since I first went there a few months ago, and the few times I've dined in, the service has always been pretty fast. If you're going to phone in your order for pickup though, I'd call about 20 minutes in advance, because sometimes they can get backed up with their phone orders. The parking lot can sometimes be a nightmare to navigate, but at least once you're there, you can walk right over to Whole Foods to pick up whatever veggie items you might need for home. ;) Pros: their veggie menu!, Whole Foods right next door Cons: you'll always get parking in the lot, but you just have to drive slow and be patient more

Chinese food for people who are clueless! 11/17/2006

This is one of the typical restaurants that tries to appeal to ""Americans"" by providing mediocre food that ""passes"" for Chinese. Pros: ??? Cons: bad food; depressing staff; area around the restaurant is dirty (outside seating, entryway) more

Average chinese food 5/9/2006

I ordered take out from this restaurant last night. The food wasn't anything special. The beef was very poor quality and the food was all very oil even though I asked for little oil on everything. The mixed vegetables were nothing special, and had a combination of fresh vegis mixed with some that were starting to go bad. Overall, I think there are better chinese restaurants in Los Angeles, where you can get better quality food for the same price. Pros: delivered timely, nice Cons: cheap quality meat, greasy, price high for value more

get the saute eggplant with ginger sauce! 4/17/2006

it's delicious!! as long as you have good company with you, you won't mind the service :) they were fast, but not friendly. the food is excellent though..meat is greasy & the eggplant is awesome! more

Vegetarian's Chinese paradise 8/22/2005

I love this place. I'm getting ready to go there right now. I'm a vegetarian. And while this place is well suited for carnivores too, their mock meats are the best I've found anywhere, no exaggeration! Before I went vegetarian one of my Chinese faves was Chinese Orange Peel Chicken. What a sacrifice it was to give that up. Then I found Kung Pao Bistro. The veggie orange chicken at Kung Pao Bistro tastes better than REAL orange chicken at most places! All my friends, vegetarian and otherwise, go crazy for the veggie meat items there. A healthy alternative to fatty meat elsewhere. Their meat stuff is great too, but I don't eat it. My friends just die for it. Pros: Vegetarian-friendly, Awesome mock meats Cons: Close too early, Long prep time more

I'm Addicted!! 10/12/2004

I can't help it, I just love the Veggie Chicken & Broccoli. It's just pale slices of gluten with a nearly invisible sauce, but there is something magical about it, plus the broccoli's crunchy and I MUST HAVE IT!! I've tried close to their entire ""veggie"" menu and it's all good and some is Fabulous!! such as the Veggie Kung Pao Beef...but I always have to get you know what. I normally get the take-out, but I always go there to order and then hit Wholefoods. It's perfect combo. Pros: Great veggie options, Fresh ingredients more

Miserable staff 2/2/2004

I've attempted take out from here 4 times in the past 2 years as I live within walking distance. EACH time they have SCREWED up my order and not even apologized for it. The last time, they even refused to credit me for the forgotten item and said they would ""give it to me next time."" After speaking to the manager they refunded my money. Not once acknowleding that I PAID for something I didn't get. No offer of a free egg roll or any little thing to make up for it. Arrogance is unbelievable. When I jokingly asked on my way out about a ""free eggroll"" the manager, in barely understandable English, replied, ""chinese restaurants no do that."" Needless to say I will NEVER give them my business again. more

Kung Pow! 5/15/2002

For fresh and healthy Chinese food, this place is it. The won ton soup is loaded with dumplings and crispy veggies. And the meat dishes are never greasy. The decor isn't much to speak of, so get it to go. more
