Joanie has been coloring my hair for over 15 years and I always get compliments on it, even by strangers! The place is friendly and laid back, no attitude. It's like going to a ...

New Location, Same Amazing results!!!! 9/23/2007

I've just been to the new Kropps and Bobbers location at 119 Ludlow Street and saw my stylist, Amelia, and I couldn't be any happier than I am right now!!! I went WAY too long without getting my hair done(summer flies by too fast!) and instead of scolding me she told me that I had a ""fresh canvas"" for her to work on and I am now a lovely highlighted blond with a milk chocolate ""panel"" underneath and the BEST side sweeping bangs I have ever seen!!! My hair tends to be fine and flat, but the layers and bangs she gave me make me look like I have twice as much hair as I really do!\r \r Go see Amelia!!! I've been watching her do everything from edgy punk mohawks to sophisticated wedding hair for years!!!!!\r \r Now I am going to go out and show off my new look!!!! Pros: Amelia Amelia Amelia Amelia......... Cons: the space isn't quite finished.......... more

The new stylists are terrible 4/2/2007

A shame!! I got my hair cut at Kropps and Bobbers for YEARS. When my first stylist moved, they recommended another and he was great- no... he was amazing- the best. Then he moved. \r \r Then Wesley was recommended to me. I have never been so disappointed. I got a bland, boring cut that was nothing like I asked for. As this cut grows out, it just gets worse and worse. To make matters worse, the two stylists working spent the whole time s**t talking a co-worker! This just made me feel uncomfortable. Kropps is nothing like the cool laid-back atmosphere that it used to be. I am so deeply sorry that I will stop going to Kropps after almost 10 loyal years.\r \r A few years ago the village voice voted Kropps best hipster cut in NYC. ALL OF THOSE STYLISTS ARE GONE!!! Don't waste your time. Pros: Not very expensive Cons: New staff is terrible more

Wesley's great 1/13/2007

Wesley cut my hair - he was definitely the best stylist I've encountered since moving to NY. I have punky hair and most stylists either try to give me that mullet that's going around or give me their awkward version of what they think is rocker hair. He's friendly and does a really great job. He offered me something to drink, he looked at the pictures I brought in and was really great at making me look exactly how I wanted. Pros: Wesley, haircut was fabulous, no product pushing at all Cons: price was a little steep, one girl on the staff was really rude to me more

Horrible experience - they don't listen 12/16/2006

I went in because another salon had messed up my hair and made it much, much, darker than I wanted. I told Wesley that I just wanted to go back to blond. He said great, let's just put some lowlights in it to break it up. I now have dark brown hair with a some very fine blond streaks running through it. How this could be interpreted as blond, I don't know, especially after I told him what I considered a horror story about this other hair dresser making my hair brown. Obviously did not listen to a word I said. My hair is dark brown. Not even light brown. I should have said something but I think I was so shocked when the foild came off that it just didn't register. He did give a good haircut. Pros: None, I'll have to pay a fortune to have this corrected Cons: Gave me the exact opposite of what I asked for more

Got a great 'do' from Wesley 11/6/2005

I tried Kropps and Bobbers on a friend's recommendation. I got a drastic cut and was a bit nervous, but I couldn't be happier with my new haircut. I highly recommend Wesley, who is new to the salon. He has a great demeanor and was in no rush to get through my cut - he took his time, did a great job, and made it an overall stress-free experience. He showed me how to style my new do with gel, but was in no way trying to push products on me...always appreciated. A trendy spot on a trendy street and the punk rock appearance may give some second thoughts, but it is definitely worth a try - even for those looking for a clean cut style. Cuts start around $70. Pros: Wesley, Low key environment more

Props to Kropps!! 5/25/2005

A great experience. This salon on the trendy Loisada (LES) does great hair. I came in with a butchered haircut from a trendy salon in Williamsburg and came out of K & B with a polished/fixed looked ~> a super cool style. I normally don't like to spend alot of $$ on a hair-cut but this was well worth it. My stylist was patient and sat with me discussing style possibilities for a good 15min before he even touched my hair which I loved . . offered me a drink and then went on to do exactly what i had asked for. All I can say is mad props to Kropps & Bobbers - I will definitely go there again. Pros: great music/ambiance, knowledgeable stylist, great staff Cons: a bit pricey, closes early more
