This place has been one of my fave go-to spots for years. Nice atmosphere, nestled away with a garden courtyard. Tasty rolls at reasonable prices keep my coming back. more

My favorite ""secret"" sushi bar. Everyone knows about Uchi, Musashino and Kome, but Korea House and Chef Ji have a special place in my heart. Ask chef to surprise you. He will make you something spectacular. more

Korean food 5/22/2012

I've been going here for years! I love the food and hospitality this place has to offer. What I don't like is the BBQ at the table. When I was in So. Korea they actually cooked on a grill at your table. Made the experience more enjoyable! I think this place has the best Galbi, not too sweet like some other joints. more

LOVE IT! 4/3/2012

So Yummy!!! 5/25/2011

I've been a big fan of Korea House for years. The food is wonderful, service is fast and polite, and the location is perfect - right next to the Alamo Drafthouse Village. It makes it a perfect pre- or after-movie place for a meal. I'm always greeted with warmth when I arrive, and while they are attentive, they don't hover, which I really like. Prices are totally reasonable and weekday sushi specials make it affordable to enjoy your favorite sushi dishes on a regular basis. I especially love the beef bulgogi, shrimp tempura, and sushi combinations. Give it a try. You'll love it. And there's even a beautiful gazebo and koi pond out front to enjoy when you're done. :) I especially love the beef bulgogi, shrimp tempura, and sushi combinations. Give it a try. You'll love it. Worst Service and mediocre food 7/19/2010

True stories told. This restaurant left me a horrible impression at my very first visit. After I signed my name on the paycheck, the waiter literally got out of his register counter and gave my an eloquent educational speech on 'appropriate tipping', as if I was not complicated and sensitive enough to understand their laborious yet reluctant water-pouring. But I added the tip up to his expectation anyway. Second time I was there for a friend's birthday party. I ordered only the appetizer since the occasion is to late for my usual lunch. I just wanted to be there as a friend. There, again, I got an valuable lesson on how to be considerate toward waiters and a math lesson on how to calculate a 15% tip after tax. I admit that I am not the most generous tipper. But my tip is well above 15% pre-tax and I never felt obligatory to tip this lousy attitude. If were not for the Korean friends present, I would really ignore her and just leave. The food is just ok, to be honest. You can still get a satisfactory meal there but prepare to be hated afterwards because of tip-digit deficiency. Pros: atmosphere Cons: Service and price more

It's ok! 4/11/2010

Well, I liked their service because it wasn't so annoying like at some places. I really don't care that the waitresses don't understand basic English, I'm ok with that till that get what I need and they do. I even like that, I like to eat Korean food served by Korean :-) Pros: prices, not annoying service! more

Great Food... Horrible Service 9/27/2009

I absolutely love Korean food, and I heard this place was great. Well the food is, but the service is absolutely horrible. I am normally a great tipper (20-25%) and I contemplated not tipping at all. I thought to myself who would get the tip anyway? We walked in and someone took our order, and we got most of our order. But if you wanted to add something or change something or ask for more water or beverage (forget about it). It is as if they go out of their way to avoid you. I walked away with a bad taste in my mouth, not because of the food but because we were treated horribly. Pros: Great Food (if you get it) Cons: Horrible Service!!! more

Excellent Korean food, but don't expect much else. 8/25/2009

Korea house is a great place to get Korean food at a reasonable price, especially the Bulgolgi or Bibimbab. The sushi is lackluster for Austin. Frequently, the sushi menu will not mention every ingredient (such as cream cheese). Also, the service ranged from decent to poor. Bottom line - Go to Korea house for Korean food not for Japanese sushi and not if poor service can seriously hamper your ability to enjoy the food. Pros: Korean Food Cons: Service / Sushi more

decent place for BBQ with a beer 6/5/2009

their food is great, even for korean-american like me food taste better than anyother korean restaurant in AUSTIN, and sushi look very fresh, Pros: good food Cons: avoid closing times more

A great place for reasonably priced sushi 5/18/2009

I have never eaten any of the Korean offerings, so I cannot speak to that. However, the sushi here is good (not great, but you're not paying Uchi-prices either). I like to sit at the counter and watch the chefs prepare the sushi - and they always give you a couple of additional (free) treats. Have some sake and enjoy a relaxing evening. Pros: good prices for good sushi more

Poor Service and Tasteless Food 12/10/2008

Being it was my 3rd visit, I was expecting good food and service but was very disappointed. My party and I came in an hour and half before closing on a week night but was treated with unattentive service. The staff was more concerned with their ""closing duties"" than my order. We ordered 3 items but only got two and were charged for all 3 items. I had to ask for my side dishes that come with every korean dish and my stew was very tasteless. I had the stew before but this time the stew tasted like they just made it with whatever was left in the kitchen for that night. The entire experience was bad and my party and I went home disappointed and hungry. Pros: parking Cons: service, food more

Great Sushi, Great Price, Wonderful Korean BBQ 12/5/2008

Love it, Love it, Love it... We go there as a family all the time. It is awesome and we love the sushi chef. Great price! Wonderful food. more

The Best Korean food 11/13/2008

This place is unbelieveable. The food is great and the price is unbeatable. If people are allergic to seafood don't eat sushi!! It's common sence that all sushi has seafood in it. Would recommend this place to anyone who loves korean food. Pros: Good food and good price more

Great Food 8/31/2008

Let me begin by stating that the service at this restaurant may come off as a bit brash, however please do not judge the establishment by this alone. What some individuals fail to realize is that certain cultures, Koreans included, are not by nature overtly friendly or outgoing. I've witnessed this in various settings and have concluded that it is purely cultural and by no means personal. That said, do not expect a ""chipper"" waiter or waitress at Korea House, you will be seated, your order will be taken and you are left to your meal. Pros: Wonderful food Cons: The decor could use some updating more

Avoid if you have any food alleriges 8/1/2008

If I could give it less stars I would- This Place is NOT - I repeat NOT for anyone with any food allergies. HAd dinner there and ordered sushi- one roll did not mention crab stick which I am extremely allergic to- needless to say I had eaten a good portion before I noticed that it was in the roll - after we asked the waitress she sent over another woman whom we spoke with about the missing ingredient on the menu - I knew I was going to be very sick. There was no apology from the woman instead I was told they did not have enough room on the menu to add all the ingredients to that one roll- even though there was plenty of white space. - We checked the menu again- every ingredient was listed on every other roll except this one- rainbow. Not only that but she said I should have known to ask the server - there was no offer of any kind- quickly asking for the bill before I began throwing up- they also charged us for the roll! Unbelievable - no apology at all on the way out she said thank you come again! Really? Cons: many read reveiw more

Plenty of Panchan (Banchan) at Korea House 7/14/2008

Spent 10 minutes trying to find them, I gave them a ringy-dingy and they directed me to their destination within the Village Shopping Cntr. Pros: Food Cons: Location more

Korea House is just fine 6/12/2008

I've been reading a few bad reviews about this place, and I feel for Korea House.....to have to cater to so many kings, queens, and premadonnas. more

Bad Customer Service!! Food is OK But not enough for me to justifine for bad customer service!! 4/25/2008

I and my family have been going to this restaurant for quite some time now and the almost every time we came, it was never been a good customer service especially the last time. The waitor was really rude when taking the order. We ordered the appertisers first but she told us have to order the main dish first with a really rude tone, and she didn't really care what you think. Pros: food is ok Cons: customer service and the ambience!! more
