Koji's in San Mateo was my favorite restaurant for more than 16 years. The quality of the sushi and sashimi were always the best. Koji's cooked dishes were superb. Unfortunately, Koji's in San Mateo closed in 2004. :-(
:-) In Summer 2008, Koji opened a new restaurant in Danville, Koji's Sushi, which is larger than his original restaurant in San Mateo. As expected, the quality of the food in the new location meets the high standards Koji set in San Mateo! It's worth a trip to Danville. The new location, 480 San Ramon Valley Blvd, Danville, is about 41 miles away, via 92 to 880 to 238 to 580 to 680. Google Maps says it should take 45-60 min., depending on traffic. There's a detailed Google Map at tinyurl. com/KojisSushi.
Pros: top-notch Japanese food, the best on the Peninsula!
Cons: always crowded on Fridays (but worth the wait); closed in 2004, moved to Danville in 2008
