It is unfortunate that many people who post reviews here do not take the time to realize that there are three different King's Transmission locations and that they have different owners and are in fact totally independent of each other, so often people make slanderous comments aimed at the wrong business. This happens all the time and GINO A, and KAIAMICHELLE are two perfect examples of this. These two people have never been to my establishment, as I have taken the time to research my entire customer base and can find zero records of these folks in my system. I certainly won't make this review about me and my skills in customer service, because there are always two sides to every story, and it seems that perception, while often influenced by emotions and not strictly driven by logic and reason, can be extremely difficult to address in this type of forum. Far too many people in this world, feel justified by telling lies, or simply embellishing the facts, be them positive or negative, and that is a problem I have zero ability to correct, as this is an individual character issue. I certainly would like to think that people can and will take responsibility for their own thoughts, feelings and actions, but societal influences and character traits are individual issues each person must correct on their own. more

TERRIBLE EXPERIENCE FROM THE KENT LOCATION. I HAD A PROBLEM WITH MY CAR CUTTING OFF WHILE DRIVING AND PAID THEM OVER $300.00 TO FIX THE PROBLEM. ALL THEY DID WAS REPLACED PARTS THAT CLEARLY HAD NOTHING TO DO WITH MY CAR SHUTTING OFF WHILE DRIVING BECAUSE 2 DAYS LATER, MY CAR STILL WAS ACTING UP. THEY SHOULD NOT HAVE SPENT MY MONEY UNDER THE ASSUMPTION THAT THESE ""BAD"" PARTS WERE THE CAUSE OF MY CAR SHUTTING OFF. I USED TO LOVETHIS PLACE BUT NOT AANYMORE. I WILL NEVER BRING ANY MORE OF MY CARS THERE AGAIN. AND JUST LIKE ANOTHER CUSTOMER STATED, ALLEN DID GET VERY IRATE WHEN I TOLD HIM THAT I FELT LIKE I GOT RIPPED OFF IN THAT SHOP. IT WAS DEFINITELY A SIDE OF HIM THAT I HAVE NEVER SEEN BEFORE. STAY AWAY FROM THE KENT LOCATION!!! more

There are many places in Kent that I could take my car...but I have and always will take it to King's Transmission. I have been taking my car to this place for the last few years for various repairs. I have ALWAYS felt respected and treated well. As a woman who knows very little about automotive repairs, it would have been very easy for them to take advantage. They never have. I have always felt like I was being treated fairly. The gentleman that runs the office; Allen, is always courteous and makes sure that I understand what needs to be done with my car. He explains it in a way that I understand but doesn't talk down to me. I appreciate their hard work and dedication. more

Any person that wants to review the truth about a busines and their history, should first consider the Better Business Bureau, AAA of Washington, or Angie's List, as these places hold the reviewers responsible before they allow a rating to be done. more

DISHONEST 3/29/2012

I brought my car there. They asked me to sign the work order or invoice before they wrote on it. I said that doesn't sound right to me. Ken Armstrong said don't worry we have been in business a long time. We are trustworthy. I believed him. They took my transmission system apart without my authorization. I ended up having to pay them $485 in cash to get my car and my transmission parts out of their shop. I took them to small claims court but Mark Shaw lied on the stand. The burden of proof was on me. The judge ruled in favor of them. DON'T TAKE YOUR CAR HERE!!!!! READ ALL OF THE THE REVIEWS ON YELP, CITY SEARCH AND JUDY'S BOOK. THEY HAVE MORE THAN ONE ACCOUNT ON YELP. READ THEM ALL. I WISH I HAD BEFORE I DECIDED TO TAKE MY CAR THERE. more

Cursing managers and really bad service 12/30/2010

these people that respond to disagreements by swearing and name calling! are simply folks who have no respect for the companies position.\r \r I can tell you from experience Allen is a complete \r cave man who will swear at you and curse you if you \r dare challenge him or their work. \r I have learned to heed reviews - why take the risk? \r it's simply not worth it and you will likely regret it.\r \r I would simply not take the RISK it's not worth it!\r \r I bet these high ratings come from them and not most customers based on my experience. more

horrid language and service! 12/30/2010

like this other person said tge manager Al was very rude after I was \r upset because they trashed my 2001 Cherokee -put in a bad engine from a junk yard into my car and it even had a engine light on. al said oh I don't know what's wrong but this is what you get.he seemed nice and so I accepted that and took my range rover in to get it's transmission tested. I paid about $60.00 for it and Al gave me the results saying it was good with no issues. two months later it went out! \r \r I took it to Al and of course he denied everything and this type of horrid service continued. they were broken into and my car was trashed and they did not even call me! I reported it to the police and they had not even reported the break in! \r \r I gave them a bad review after my wife had just died and al called me a bast??d plus other names. I can't believe they are even in business treati g people like they do with such bad service. more

Never Late For Dinner 12/16/2010

I was on a vacation for thanksgiving when my car stopped shifting gears. I was 250 miles away from my parents house the day before thanksgiving late in the afternoon when I called King's and spoke to Allen. Allen explained that the problem I was having may not be as bad as I thought and that made me feel better even though I've never had good luck when it comes to car repairs. Allen had his mechanic road test and check out my car in about 10 minutes after I arrived. What happened next I will never forget, Allen explained that there was a sensor on the transamission that needed to be replaced , he had it in stock, and the cost of the repair was only $123.00 plus tax!!! You could've knocked me over with a feather. To have my car act up at this time of this day so close to my destination I just expected to spend alot of money,in fact Allen could've told me my transmission needed to be rebuilt and I would'nt have known the difference. Kings is a old school kind of shop where they not all about the money. Before i took my car in, me and my dad tryed fixing it and made the problem worse. Then when i took my transmission all apart and couldnt get it back to together right, Eric at King's showed me and my dad what we were doing wrong and helped us fix it. Not only did i get my car working but it was also a learning experience. Really good place to go. more

King's is the place to go.\r i was leaving to go on vacation to see my family and i pulled in about closing time and Eric tighted up the squealing belt (that was the problem) and didnt even charge me. This good deed i didnt want to let it unspoken of. GREAT place to go. HIGHLY recommended! more

I had our transmission rebuilt there over 3 years ago and still works great. Has over 40k miles since.Their repair price was very competitive to other transmission shops.They also do other work on cars besides transmissions.Allan is a great guy to work with. more

Roger H and Ken T and Bruce A have never been a customer @ Kings Transmission in Kent Wa.and Mr. Dwayde F does not explain that he refused to let us examine the burned clutch disc in his Corvette that he abused and was responsible for.There is no accountability in the people that write these false reviews and I believe something needs to be done about it. more

I wrote a highly uncomplimentary "review" about King's business practices a couple years ago. My bad review was specifically for and only for the KING'S TRANSMISSION ON 4th Ave. in the SODO DISTRICT... but I see it unintentionally ended up here.\r \r I've NOT been a customer at the King's in Kent and I have no reason to question their business or operation. I apologize sincerely for the confusion. more

Good work done here 2/12/2009

I had the Transmission in my Chevy truck repaired here after it was damaged during a rebuild at another shop. They repaired it in 2003 and it has been working flawlessly ever since. more

Corvette 11/4/2008

I spent over three thousand dollars on a clutch with a lifetime warranty...and now...they will not honor it.\r I had only gone 30,000 miles. I would say this is unfair as there were no exclusions in the contract. more

Don't ever go to this place 10/11/2008

I had my transmission rebuilt by King's transmission and after 4 months it started acting up. I took it back to them and they told me it was an engine problem. I took it to get another mechanics opinion and he told me that it was for sure the transmission. I brought it back to King's and once again they told me it wasn't a transmission issue. I took it to the dealer ($105 of my money) and they have told me it was without a doubt a bad transmission. I feel King's has been VERY dishonest and is trying to lead me on until the 12 mo 12k warranty runs out. Problem still not resolved. I will go out of my way to tell everyone to stay away. more

i was scamed 5/30/2007

after 1 week and 3000 dollar's I got my van back the quote was 1899 and they kept calling me and upping the price I could have bought a new trans for 2500 more

Good prices great service 9/20/2005

These guys gave me an awesome deal on a transmission for my van. They got it in installed promptly and the van was out the next day and ready to go. The salesmen are friendly as are the mechanics. Their prices are excellent! They wont rip you off for sure, their work is high quality, and they wont give you the run around on when your car will be done. I recommend them highly! more
