I'd rather give my stuff away than sell it to them 3/29/2012

This was my first experience with the store. I brought in new with tags maternity clothes, and got offered $1.00 to $2.00 per piece of clothing. When I got offered in-store credit, the price I got was only $1.20 more on the total of the cash offer. I wouldn't be able to buy anything in there store with my earned credit. As I was browsing through there clothing, I found oil stains, faded and extreamly used items, that were all over priced!!! Not one thing under $4.99!!! I would rather pay the extra few dollars and buy new, then buy stuff with stains! I will not sell there, and I will not shop there. Anyone and everyone is better off looking elsewhere. more

Average at best 1/10/2012

First I think it's important to know how to read and write reviews. Look at the date. If the store is under new leadership it may not matter. Know what the stars mean. 2 stars here means sorta good - that's not so bad. Read what the person wrote - she/he may be over the top. Most importunely, at least go once yourself before deciding. Take a small amount and see what happens. I mostly sell to Apex but stopped because I had a bad experience. I don't go back anymore - PERIOD. I have not sold to Cary because my kids are older and they wear out their clothes more. I have shopped here and I have to say that the clothes on the racks are mostly not anything I would pay. When you can get brand new clothes on clearance at Gymboree for $8 it's really hard to pay $6 for used. Remember that the workers there may get first choice on some items. That would be an advantage of working there. If you want to sell your clothes for more, you have to put in the work and sell them yourselves. more

HORRIBLE Seller Experience 8/21/2011

I am so disappointed in Kid to Kid. I missed the recent kids exchange sale in which I would normally receive $120-$140 for the 3 bins of clothes I took to Kid to Kid. When I went to drop off my clothing, there was a very long wait for someone to go through my bins to make me an offer. I was very confident that all my items were in excellent condition and stylish so I signed a paper to donate what they wouldn't take. They were supposed to call me by the next day with the amount I was to receive for store credit. 3 days later I still had not heard from them so I called to get my store credit amount ... and it was $9! I went to get my bins of clothes and everything had been ""donated"" except one small grocery bag of clothes. I'm not sure how the buyers experience would be but my experience in trying to see was TERRIBLE! more

Never going back 1/4/2011

I was very dissapointed with selling there. One day i brought some things asking if the store is interested in them and waited over an hour in line to be answered ""yes"" but they wanted to check 4 other customer's stuff BEFORE they will do required paperwork for me. Those customers came after me and I could not wait that long so I came back next morning. Then, another person working there decided she doesn't want any of the things accepted for sure the day before. Waste of time. There is in Raleigh a Catholic Parish Outreach collecting anything for babies or maternity clothes and I know those things are truly needed by poorest people so that is where I prefer to give those things away. For few pennies it is not worth to be wasting your time and be treated according to a saleswoman mood. I did not like that disrespectful service and won't support business like this ever. more

don't shop there unless you like rip offs! 5/25/2010

Really needs to be shut down. Pros: not much Cons: every thing. more

A positive experience with the owner 4/17/2010

I have been a customer of Kid to Kid since I found out that I was pregnant. A friend of mine recommended them for maternity clothes, and I was pleased with their selection and prices. I was able to find clothes for work and the weekend and found almost my entire maternity wardrobe there. I have continued to shop there for items that we needed once the baby was born. We always check Kid to Kid before going to Target or Babies R Us. A couple of employees are exceptional? particularly Shannon. She remembers me each time I visit the store and always asks about my son. She has helped me pick out items and even loads them into my car. Recently, I decided to try selling some items that we did not need. When I was confused about the selling process and unsure how prices were determined, the store owner himself contacted me to clear up the situation. Patrick was very helpful and I really appreciated the fact that he took the time to call me on Saturday morning. It is true that you will not earn as much consigning as you might selling on Craigslist, but it is much more convenient. By selling to Kid to Kid I don?t have to worry about taking pictures, posting ads, meeting people, dealing with no-shows, etc. when I should be focusing on our 5 month old. Overall the process works for everyone: the seller makes money on items they don?t need, the store makes money on items that they sell, and the buyer is able to find quality merchandise at a reasonable price. After the exemplary customer service I received today from Patrick Fish, I will continue to shop at and sell to Kid to Kid. ( I also really appreciate that they offer a military discount and send coupons and newsletters via email.) ***edited to add that Betsy (I think that is her name) is also very helpful. She always takes me to the item I am looking for or looks herself if I can't find something. more

All Around Terrible! 10/2/2009

I needed fall clothes for my daughter, so I thought I would bring in her old stuff (in great condition, some tags still on) and get store credit to buy new clothes. I called Kid to Kid and they were rude on the phone. I thought, maybe she was having a bad day, so a few days later I came in with my stuff. Both girls acted like they didn't even want me in there, like I was interrupting them. There store was dirty and smelly. They wanted to give me $16 for my bin of clothes. And they said that there were spots on things that were BRAND NEW, with the tags still on. I looked over everything before bringing it in. I will never go there again. I would rather give my stuff away!!!! Cons: everything more

Just Donate Your Stuff 12/10/2008

These people absolutely RIP YOU OFF! The person that wrote the review complaining that people want to make a fortune off of their kids clothing must work there or own it.....I took some very nice clothing into that store and they offered me $9 or a $10 store credit!!! The clothing they sell for the most part I could get at the Salvation Army in the same condition for less money.....They give you pennies for your stuff then turn around and sell it at an extremely huge mark up!! I will be donating to the Salvation Army or GCF from now on. I will never take any clothes in there again nor will I buy anything from them. I took the store credit because I figured someone actually needs those clothes and needs them at a discounted price and would benefit from my GIVING!! The only thing is I wish I knew the person because had I known I was going to be ripped off I would have just given the stuff to them like I gave it to Kid to Kid! Pros: Good Idea Cons: Unfair offer more

I had a great time! 5/7/2008

I am in town visiting my grandchildren from Georgia. I heard of Kid to Kid and decided to find the closest one to my son's house to get some good deals on clothes and toys. My husband and I went to the Crossroad Plaza location today and had a great experience. Not only were there lots of toys to chose from the staff was very friendly. Upon entering, we were quickly greeted by a young lady behind the counter. We roamed the store and picked up lots of clothes for our grandaughter. We were checked out by the same young lady. She was very polite and even took the time out to share a story about her children with us. When leaving another manager type lady told us thanks for coming in and to have a good day. I read the other reviews about the stores and cannot agree with what was said. Whenever we return to the area we will definatly be back to get more clothes. I hope we have another great experience next time as we did this one! Pros: Great customer service and good selection more

Unfair ratings!! 4/30/2008

I love how people write there reviews for other Kid to Kid stores on this site. And then assume they are all the same. The crossroads store is under new ownership. The previous posts are from the old ownership. Unfortunately they are stuck with that, but for people to rate this store badly when they have never even been there...give me a break. If you're mad call the owner of the store you visited. But don't bad mouth something you have never tried. And if you feel so robbed of your high end clothes say NO and take them someplace else. We don't steal or force anyone to take our offers. And that's what they are offers so don't take it personally. We actually donate a huge amount of clothing to charities that we can't use on a weekly basis. We support many causes the most resent being Relay for Life, Kids Appreciation Day, and Parents in Prison. If you want to recycle your clothes and give others a chance to wear what they may otherwise not be able to afford bring them to us. If you want full price then YOU take the time to consign, or list them on a site and sell them yourself. This isn?t for everyone and you won't get rich selling your kids things. Some people don't have that time. So before you call names at least try us. Then you can complain all you want. Pros: Customer service more

RUDE-SCAM-READ FINE PRINT 4/28/2008

My experience was at the BEAVERCREEK Kid to Kid but it sounds like the Crossroads location is just as bad. Terrible service, very rude and you get NOTHING for your high-end clothes. As someone else stated, I would rather donate my clothes to deserving people than have my clothes essentially stolen from me. As for buying clothes, I occasionally found cute things, but nothing I was excited about. Most of the clothes are ratty and very worn. Buyer and, especially seller, BEWARE!!! more

donate 2 charity 3/13/2008

Before visiting the Drexel Hill kid to kid store On March 7,2008. I went to their website to view the procedure for selling items. The site read that only toys in gift giving condition and high in clothing are accepted. Well, I gathered all of the excellent condition fisher price and leap frog learning toys my 2 yr old had. Her age should speak for itself, the toys were handled by adults during teaching time. I sold about 15 toys, which included working batteries. When I arrived at the store, the store manager wasn't very customer friendly he was made aware that this was my first time with disregard he rushed me along picking out the toys while tossing them from my box into their basket. ""No this wont sell, no we don't need this okay we'll take this and call you later"". I was stunned. Well I did receive a call Sat afternoon stating that I will be paid $10. I disagreed with this amt. I called the store back immediately during business hours, I was forwarded to the answering machine 3xs, I then emailed the company to request a pick up of the items.I would have felt better donating and then claiming on my taxes. I received a call that Monday stating too late items on the shelf. Oh not to mention you only have 3 days to pick up your money or you will get store credit only. when I went to pick up my millions I looked to see what my items were being sold for, well lets just say Kid to Kid will make $70 off of all the items I sold them and yes I made $10 (boy was that a steal Literally) Heck of a mark up huh. well Pros: great idea Cons: does not pay enough for the hi end items requested. more

Kid to Kid - W. Bitters - Great Customer Service 8/28/2007

I was nervous about going to a resale shop, but I really wanted all this baby furniture out of my house. The Staff was nice and helpful (unloading the furniture), the store is clean, neat, and the products look like new! The price given for my furniture was fair, and I even bought the ""push tricycle"" I had been wanting. I wish this shop was closer to home! more

good for buying, not for selling 1/24/2006

This is a good place to find quality used children's clothing. I have had good luck finding clothes and toys there for the past year. The store also will buy your used items...I can't say that my experience with that side of the business has been as good. Just beware of the fine print before you bring anything in. Pros: great for buying Cons: not great for selling more

Affordable maternity and infant clothing 11/17/2005

I first started shopping at Kid to Kid when I was three months pregnant. My child is now 3 and I still go there at least once a month for quality childrens clothing, furniture and toys. I highly recommend this store to any expectant mother or a mother who wants to purchase quality resale children's clothing. Pros: inexpensive, convenient, excellent selection more

If you want bad treatment.. 7/1/2002

The sales associate was unfriendly from the beginning then she became rude. She didn't seem to want to help us at all, and she answered one of my questions while walking away mumbling. The look on her face clearly stated, 'Why are you still here, get out.' The next day when I called and spoke with the manager. The manager didn't seem to care and said 'all she could do was talk to her (the sales associate)'. I told her I would not come back to her store and would not recommend it. She said ""Okay."" Not exactly the response I was hoping for. more
