Bar? anyone 8/30/2010

I don't like bars. I find the false cheer and immodest prices to be a bit of a bore. Call me a misanthrope, but I hate standing around making bad conversation with drunk people. It is rare to find me in one, and even rarer for me to enjoy it. Which makes my love of Keybar all the more unusual. The place is full of generally interesting people. The set up could not get more eclectic. But my absolute favourite part of the Key experience are the jams on Friday and Saturday nights. It is one of the coolest and least known events in the city. more

My favorite bar in NYC :) 10/9/2009

I've just had a great time there without exception. I used 2 go there almost every weekend (unfortunetly I've moved out of New York, that's the only reason I just used 2....) Best Neighborhood Bar... Even If It's Not Your Neighborhood! 7/13/2009

Keybar is pretty much my favorite bar in the world. The bartenders are amazing, the music is live and different every night (Fridays always 70s/80s/90s, Saturdays always House), the drinks are great, and the crowd has some of the most interesting people I've met in New York. Pros: Cool people, 2-4-1 on everything 'til 10 every night Cons: I wish I were at Keybar when I should be working more

Not what i had expected 7/2/2009

I had decided to come here with my sister and brother who came out of a town. we stumbled by and remembering i read about them on here i thought why not. i guess we had came on a bad night because the staff was very rude. i get it still new york but never had i seen service like this it took forever for our drinks to come and one of the bartender told me she had to add her tip on our check. excuse me tip is voluntary . dont get me wrong the place looks nice but the owners need to get a whole new staff until that happens i dont wanna come back here and i sure will tell people not to go here either. KeyBar is an awesome place. They have great drink specials if you get there before 10 and they have a nice selection of very tasty shots. Met some cool people when I was there and the bartenders were top notch. Will definitely be back Pros: Drink Specials, Shots, People more

WORST bar I've ever been to 1/23/2009

This bar is full of people who like to talk about themselves. The service is horrible. The drinks are overpriced and disgusting. NEVER GO HERE. Pros: You get to talk to self-absorbed people Cons: You spend the night around loud mouths more

happy hour... 8/9/2008

went out there friday right after work, it was empty...but that would soon change. the bartender was friendly, answered our questions and make some strong drinks. after abouyt a half hour, more people began to trickle in, it was a chill crowd, they play good music, but its not so loud that you can't have a conversation with someone. i really had a good time here, its a great happy hour spot...and the 2for1 drinks go till 10..whats not to like? KeyBar is a great place to hang out with friends, meet new people or just to have a drink. They have delicious signature drinks and shots and the people who work there are really friendly. The scene and ambiance is also really cool. Highly Recommended! Pros: Drinks, Service, Atmosphere more

Great bar but the service... 3/31/2008

I went there with a few friends on Friday- when we came in the bar was pretty empty and the service was slow ... When the bar picked up (and was packed) the service became even worse (and everyone was commenting on how long it took to get a drink- 20 minutes- - NO exaggeration and it's not that big of a place)- they even added a second bartender which made no impact- for some reason the bartender was barbacking even though they had two other people 'clearing' and noone was pouring drinks- they would make eye contact and then turn away- in NYC there are tons of bartenders out there (good ones) my suggestion is to get rid of these and find replacements and then there would be nothing to complain about!!! more

BEST HAPPY HOUR IN NYC 11/30/2007

I have been going to Keybar for a little over a month now with friends every Thursday. What I love the most about it is that it's NYC chic without the attitude. The people are friendly, the owners are amazing, the drinks are delicious, the staff is hot, and the happy hour lasts until 10pm. Who could ask for more? Pros: Service, music, specialty drinks, happy hour until 10pm, amazing staff and ownership, and a hot crowd Cons: There are no cons.. this place is amazing! more

Great date bar 11/7/2007

I was there on a Wednesday night. The place was not crowded at all, just a couple groups of people having a great day. Mostly couples. The atmosphere was very relaxed, and it showed in all the people totally letting go and having fun. The bartender was very nice and responded well to me asking her to make anything she wanted. I hate when bartenders give you blank looks when you don't spell out exactly what you want. This girl was great though! more

Birthday fun!!! 6/10/2007

so seeing that keybar was crowned best signature drinks of 2006, i decided it sounded like a good place for a birthday party and i was soooo right. I called up a month in advance to make sure i could reserve tables and the owner was insanely nice. He told me to call back a few days in advance to confirm everything. seriously like 3 weeks later he remembered our exact phone call. thats what i call good service. The night of my 24th at keybar was a night to remember. drinks are amazing, crowd is friendly, the bouncer was like a big teddy bear and the music is not that teeny bopper stuff. i definetely recommend this place for a birthday party or even a place to just go and chill with your friends. Good croud, great people 2/12/2007

I have never been in this bar before. I friend of mine told me to go there because the good happy hour. The bartender is from an eastern European country & we had a great conversation.She made me try the rolo shot which is terrific, but the unicum...don't do it. Anyway the night turned crazy after midnight, such a nice mixed European crowd, I had many great conversation. Good service, terrific drinks, excellent music. Great time thanks Keybar. great drinks, AWESOME STAFF 1/11/2007

This place is my new favorite. I found this place through citysearch and decided to give it a shot and i was not dissappointed. My friend and I went on a Tuesday night, so it was very chill and laid-back. The drinks were stiff, but very tasty. The bartender was a sweetheart, and the owner of the place is very friendly and welcoming. The lighting is great, and I'm bringing back all my friends tonight. Great place to go to during the week if you just want to chill out and have a couple of drinks, or even better to go back on the weekend to drink, dance and meet interesting people from all over the world. Welcome to the Barn 1/10/2007

If you like the smell of natural fertilizer (ie. manure), this is the place for you. I noticed the smell the first time but I decided to give keybar the benefit of the doubt, who knows, perhaps a horse had made an appearance the night before. Upon my return to keybar several weeks later, I noticed that the smell was not only still present but was as pungent as ever. The bartenders are hot but not worth the vomit-inducing smell. A little fun, a little spooky, a lotta fun and just real kookie! 10/14/2006

If you want the real East Village feel with just a splash of authentic Euro-flavor, Keybar is an absolute must. Owners are real, no B.S. or phony limp wrists here. Bartenders are attentive, friendly and know how to ply their craft. Just good fun and great music....oh yeah, and the drinks are even better than Dr. Jekyll himself could make.
