OverviewKaty Trail State Park is built on what used to be the Missouri-Kansas Railroad (aka the Katy). Today the Katy Trail is 225 miles long and, for most of its miles, follows the bends of the Missouri River. One of the most popular sections of the trail wanders through the Missouri wine country. The section of the trail between St. Charles and Boonville is the "Lewis and Clark National Historic Trail."The ExperienceIf visitors choose to bike through wine country, they may pick up a Trail Head and parking lot in Augusta and make their way to Marthasville. Another option would be to get rolling in Rocheport, not far from Columbia, and take in the white limestone bluffs and old train tunnel on that part of the trail. Rocheport has a winery, antique shops, a trailside museum and plenty of opportunities for exploration along the trail.
