Best

Somehow, the food delivered tasted even better than in the restaurant. The lamb Biryani was so lovely, very flavorful and beautiful colors with some fresh herbs cut in at the end.

Worst

Portions are generous. Food is delicious. Delivery times are reasonable, often arriving ahead of their projected time. Usually my husband and I will order one appetizer and one entree with rice and naan and that will be more than enough food for two people. more

It's unfortunate, I had a good experience with this place once and then the next time the food was totally flavorless. more

Excellent Indian Cuisine 9/29/2011

Great Indian food. Atmosphere is pleasant and service is excellent. I love the lunch buffet. Prices are reasonable. more

Indian Food 12/18/2008

I really like the food at Kathmandu, particularly the samosas. Unfortunately, it's very expensive. However, they do have a lunch buffet which is more worthwhile (although you'd have to order a side of samosas since they are not included). more

Delightful experience every time I go! 12/13/2008

Katmandu is a wonderful little place where prices are reasonable, food is above par and staff very attentive. The food quality for Katmandu in Sacramento exceeds the Davis restaurant, tho atmosphere in Sac is less romantic. I highly recommend the saag gosht (lamb & spinach), or the vegetarian alternative w/cheese. All dishes are delicious and staff extremely pleasant. You'll enjoy either lunch or dinner, no doubt. Pros: Great price, quality good-great, excellent staff Cons: Could probably use some refurbishing, but is definitely pleasant and soothing more

yummy 12/2/2007

Indian food is my favorite food and this is my favorite Indian restaurant. It's definitely the best in Davis. I go to school in Los Angeles where I go out to eat at least 2 times a week because the restaurants are so amazing, but I have yet to find an Indian restaurant that I like more than Davis' Kathmandu Kitchen. I highly recommend going with 3 or more people, because Indian food is much better when it's shared so that you can eat multiple things. more

Great food 11/5/2007

I had a wonderful experience at Kathmandu Kitchen this weekend. A group of us went in because we had a friend that suggested we try it out. Right when I walked in everyone was very friendly and helpful. We had to wait about ten minutes but it was worth it. The food was flavorful and well presented with large portions. Our waitress was very helpful with suggestions and gave us great service, we will be returning very soon. Pros: The food, service, selection Cons: It was a little warm inside more

Mediocre food, too expensive 9/27/2007

Although there are no better Indian food choices in Davis, don't waste your money here. The food was mediocre and it is expensive. I am used to the deep flavors of Indian food, and this food tasted almost bland. Spicy-hot does not make up for the deep flavors of Indian cuisine. I admit, I am vegetarian so I only tried the veg dishes. My husband is not, however, and did not find the meat dishes much better. We have given up on Davis for Indian food and drive out of the area for this treat. Pros: Interesting restaurant Cons: Bland food, too expensive more

Best Indian Food in Town 1/14/2006

This place is a tad bit expensive, but the best Indian place in around. Note, it has a Napelease twist, so it wont be your run of the mill Indian cuisine. The meat dishes 'ala carte' are unsurpassed, and the Na'an is always hot, soft and flavorful. The vegetable dishes and dessert are something to be desired, but when we go, we usually just stick with chicken and lamb anyway. Try the Lamb Vindaloo, traditional lamb curry, or chicken tikka masala. If you like spice, you should LOVE this dishes. Give it a try. Pros: lamb curry, chicken curry Cons: vegetable dishes, lukewarm service more

Food Ok- Women Beware 11/8/2005

The food is pretty good and not too overpriced like many of the places here in Davis. However, you will be treated much better if you dine-in rather than be largely ignored if you order out. This is worse if you a woman because they will outright ignore your very being at the counter and take a man's order before yours. This has happened to me twice and I've watched it happen to other women as well. However, after some talking into I returned with friends and dined in where I noticed that they will actually acknowledge the females at the table. Perhaps because they have to? more

I know the owners personally now, after having eaten here many times. I must say that it seems the food gets better every time I dine. Outstanding taste, service, and ambience. Bravo!! Pros: inexpensive, not crowded, nice atmosphere more

Raqvi's top of the charts 7/1/2002

I have eaten at dozens of Indian restaurants across the country, and this India-Tibet-Nepalese spot is wonderful. I have tried probably a dozen menu items here and whole heartedly endorse: beigan bharta, dal makhani, chicken makhani, shrimp vindaloo. The samosas (veg) are great and the dal is excellent. The buffet is also grand, the staff are friendly and the atmosphere is warm. I moved from CA a month ago and will always miss this place, will probably spend many years attempting to replace it. Thanks Kathmandu!!! Pros: Warm atmosphere, Massive menu, Unparalleled quality Cons: Not as spicy as some more
