Kan's Restaurant

Almost empty when we went in as out of town tourists. I now know it's likely because locals don't go there. Pricing on their dim sum menu (not separately priced) and the check presented (i.e. One item - $8.50) was not clear . There was 4 of us wanting a very light lunch. We only ordered a few dim sum dishes and the bill came to just over $70 which is what you would expect for a full dinner. The food was average and nothing special. Serviceio was good as there was only one other table of 3 in the entire place. \r I really felt ripped off and after paying the bill, I left a very small tip in the folder. The women cashier came over and picked up the folder BEFORE we started to leave and as she was walking away immediately opened it to see what I had left as a tip. She returned and complained it was not at least 10%. Their prices and billing already had a built in tip in my mind. I took back the tip and walked out, making it the first time I've never left one. Little wonder why they have a shill out on the street hawking the place to unknowing tourists. Unfortunately, I reviewed this place only afterwards. Beware of this TOURIST TRAP and check out other online ratings to find my experience repeated by so many others. more

I was lured with a promise of wide variety of delectable dimsum! Inside, was offered the same plate of dismal choice of dimsum. I refused the plate 3 times!! Basic dimsum staples, har gow & siu mai had to be ordered. Fried rice cost $8 & was oversalted! The bill had arrows and circles to remind customers to leave a tip! I did not leave a tip on my $20 meal (2 servings of dimsum, 1 order fried rice & a coke). The waiter told me I forgot to tip & blocked my passage from the restaurant. He got mad at me and told me to go to McDonald's instead! I would not recommend this restaurant to ANYONE!! ALTERNATE ""Bargain Bites"" ""YOU's DIMSUM"" just over on Stockton! Cafeteria style point & choose, but so delicious, fresh, a great value!!! more
