The Sushi Secret in Tustin 3/4/2011

Kai Sushi is one of those places you walk by everyday and wonder about. Well, three years ago, I stopped wondering and decided to give it a shot. I have been to hundreds of sushi spots in the Southern California area and NOTHING, comes close to Kai Sushi. The owner, Ted, creates several of the rolls available at this establishment and he creates them using fresh, clean, and delicious fish of all kind. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming as is the staff and Ted himself. I HIGHLY recommend the Seared Garlic Yellow tail. The taste is beyond words. The garlic is not overpowering but it makes itself known. The sauce drizzled over the yellow tail adds a tangy kick that compliments the dish in such a way that, when I leave, I make sure it was the last thing I ate so I can continue to taste it after the meal. If you are a fan of the rolls, I would suggest the Kai creation, the SLUR Roll, topped with seared salmon and a variety of sauces that make it a dish even people who don't like fish, can eat with a smile. These are just two of my favorites. NOTHING I have had there has been less than spectacular. Do yourself a favor and visit your new favorite sushi spot. My mother hated fish, now we have dinner at Kai once a month at her request. Enjoy! more

best sushi EVER!!!! 10/1/2009

Awesome sushi! The chefs are amazing, small cozy resturant, nice waitresses, and a fun family place. The best sushi ive had there were *****the ceared albacore *****the Lion King *****The Tustin Tsunami ****Miami Vice ****crunchy roll They treat you like family in that resturant!!! I've been a regular customer for 8 or more years^^They make it easy for kids since they have ""chopstick helpers"". And fun for the adults with there giant flat screen Tvs.. I really enjoy how sometimes they play japanese music ( being a japan otaku myself :) ) Hopefully anyone that LOVES GREAT SUSHI will stop by there and give it a try!!!!! ^^! YOU WON'T REGRET IT!!!! Pros: Best sushi EVER!!! Cons: that I can't have sushi 24/7 XD more

Amazing Sushi and Service in Tustin 2/6/2009

We were looking for a sushi place for my 42nd B-Day and came across Kai on the internet. We read about their all you can eat special and thought we would give it a try. When we got there on a Friday night, we were told the special was only on Monday's. We decided to order one rainbow roll (my son's fav) and then go to a sushi buffet. Instead of turning us away, Ted, one of the owners and chefs asked us if this was our first time there. We (My wife, 7 year old son, and myself) said, Yes, this was our first time. As he handed us our rainbow roll, he asked us if we would like the all you can eat special. We couldn't believe it, but of course said, ""YES!"" What we got was above and beyond. Ted, after finding out it was not only our first time in Kai, but my B-Day as well, gave us special dish after special dish. The rolls were to die for and the hamachi was like butter. He even gave my son a spider roll, though that was not in the all you can eat special. With service and food like that, we will certainly be back...and soon. We found our Sushi Bar in Tustin, care to join us? Pros: Everyone treated like an old friend. Cons: Didn't find it sooner!!!!! more

This is the absolute best sushi in southern California ! The two best things about the restaurant are the quality of food, and the friendly chefs. Ted, and Matt make you feel right at home. I have become a regular over the years. Just let them know what kind of fish is your favorite, and let them make you your own special creation. I've tried Tommy's and other popular sushi places, and every tme, I regret not going to Kai instead. Give it a try. Thursdays are the best time to go for dollar saki night ! Pros: super high quality food, friendly staff Cons: I don't have enough $ to eat sushi every day more

Best kept secret In the O.C. 4/4/2006

If you like sushi chefs with personality like I do, then this is the place for you. It doesn't matter which chef you get, ask them a question and they are happy to assist you. They are personable, funny, and very generous. Like for instance, I was talking to my fiance mentioning my fav fish, ""ono"". Without blinking, the chef cut me up a slice to try, and didn't even charge me. He just knew it would make me happy. The place is clean, well taken care of, and a good value. They have all you can eat sushi for $25 and a baked scallop dish called BCSR. I don't know what it is, but it is worth the $10. That was the first time I was there! I wasn't even a regular yet. Now, they cut me off some things I never heard of, just to try. Pros: value, the chefs, personable Cons: , bathroom is small more
