Kahn Madelyn MD

Donna Marie is a superb nurse practitioner. I can't speak to the experiences of others who have reviewed her, but for me she has always been attentive, friendly, highly skilled, and helpful. She's gone out of her way to call me to report lab tests that have needed my attention, and she found an allergy to soy I have had forever but that until I saw her went undiagnosed. The office has always been fine for me, and I'm sorry to leave them for now to go to Kaiser, which is offered through my employer. I recommend Donna Marie and Dr. Kahn's office to anyone looking for efficient, intelligent care. more

After the unexpected loss of my 16.5 week pregnancy Dr. Kahn and her staff were there to comfort, guide and medically assist my recovery. I would recommend her to anyone. She understands the gamut of patients, the reasons why they come to her, doesn't pass judgment, provides compassion, education and gentle service. I am so thankful for her, and her incredible staff. more

I have been to the office a few times. I spoke to Khan on the phone and she was very nice. I have met w/the nurse practitioner, Anne Marie, a few times and found her to be terribly rude. Recently, I had a question regarding my pregnancy and asked it very nicely. As usual, Anne Marie had no patience and spoke to me like I was a child. I have never had a nurse be so rude. I'm going to see how Dr. Khan is but if I have to deal w/Anne Marie at all any more, I will start to look for another obgyn. more

I know being pregnant can be a emotional time for some.. but if any of you even know anything about Dr. Kahn, she is very direct and knows her stuff...and if something were to go wrong with my pregnancy ( I have had three that she delivered ) I would only want her to be the one to be my doctor...so for the other's just SUCK it up and deal with the bluntness and quit being such emotional wrecks..save that for someone else. more

Dr. Kahn is very experienced, so I am surprised to read the very detailed negative review by previous poster. Nobody is perfect and I'm sorry she went through that! Dr. Kahn been with me through several pregnancies and operations. For me, there has been no problem. However, if you want to be coddled and handled with kid gloves, as many pregnant women do, she may not be the right doctor for you. She is blunt, quick witted, and economic with her communication. I happen to like this, but others could mistake this for rudeness. I'd like to point out that when I asked her about flying at 31 weeks, she advised against it. So I again I am surprised that the previous poster said Dr. Kahn told her it was OK up until 1 week prior to delivery. Her staff has been very kind with me at all times and on some occasions have gone above and beyond to help me without me even asking. In response to the poster who called Dr. Kahn a "butcher" and is opposed to second trimester abortion, I'd like to point out that when the mother's life is in danger or if the fetus is severely damaged, an abortion at this time is necessary. It happened to me. Often these things cannot be detected until that stage of pregnancy. I thought this was common knowledge. I suspect that commenter has never been to Dr. Kahn and therefore should not be rating her. Please keep your personal politics on the appropriate sites. more

I really feel she is genuine and I love the fact that she's always positive which in turn rubs onto you. I thank her and her staff for their support during up and downs and highly recommend her practice. more

I have been to many OB practices throughout my adult life, having grown up in San Francisco. Dr. Kahn's and her office are different. She has a consistent (no turnover) staff. She is in sole practice, so she will always deliver your baby, and she will also give it to you straight. When I was pregnant, and went in for pre-natal testing, and there was no heart beat and she had to perform a D&E, she was very understanding, but also gave it to me straight- no beating around the bush. I was an older (43 years) mom, and so she suggested that I not delay in trying to get pregnant again. more

01/2007 I have been going to this office for over 5 months now and every time I am in there (7 visits so far) and every time I speak with any of the staff they could not be more rude. The worst part is being rushed to get out of the office while you are still asking questions (no I am not one of those people that babble, I have like5 direct questions) Dying to find another OB & fast! This is my first time being pregnant and they never said congratulations and they still haven't weighed me in, taken my blood pressure or given me an estimated Due Date. Before I was pregnant they gave me even less time and sighed when I asked to see the doctor rather that the VERY HORRIBLY rude Nurse Practitioner named Donna Marie. I wasn't even able to see the doctor until after I was pregnant and the only reason I stuck it out was because a Friend of mine goes there as well and she told me thing were the same for her at first but got better..... turns out that's only because Dr. Kahn has a mutual friend of her mothers! I can tell you COUNTLESS screw up they have made but one on the top of my head is that when I went in to have my blood pregnancy test the Nurse Practitioner told me on Thursday that she would call me by Monday with the results, after waiting all that time I called on Tuesday only to find out that the Nurse Practitioner was on vacation that week and no one in the office even knew about the test. They did the EXACT same thing with my husbands work ups as well. All I can say is do yourself a favor and steer clear of this office if you want any accurate information (Dr. Kahn told me I could fly until a week before I was due.... turns out most airlines wont let you fly after 32 weeks for domestic and 28 weeks for international!) 03/2007 Update: Turns out Dr. Kahn's office still hasn't sent all my file to my new doc. I realize that's not a physicians personal responsibility but when it turns out that she let THREE false positive tests go without having me get rechecked is inexcusable. Not only that but she accepted tests that wee returned untestable as the blood was drawn on the wrong day and never told me until 31 days later that they would need to be redone (this was only done as the lab called to give me a credit and I asked WHY!!) She is not liberal, she is careless, makes crass comments to my other friend who goes to her and comments on her appearance as well. Very sad & frustrating more

"Dr" Kahn is willing to do abortions on women who are 24 months pregnant (that's 6 months!) I hope any woman out there, who pro-choice or not, would think twice about going to a "doctor" like this! more

I tried NTI at the suggestion of Dr. Madelyn Kahn to try to reduce the grinding of my teeth as well as reduce the frequency of headaches after waking up in the morning. It felt a bit awkward at frist but took not time to get comfortable. I no longer experience morning headaches and have been using NTI every night for several years. I'll continue to use it since it's now become a part of my daily routine just like brushing my teeth at night. more

She is wonderful, very understanding and knowledgeable, but treats you like a person. Highly recommended. more
