I originally called Appliance Service & Repair to fix my Subzero ice maker. The ""tech"" installed a new valve and recharged it and charged me $350. Never made 1 cube of ice. I called K & N after recommendation from the retail seller. Tech from K & N came out and was very professional. He got it working but basically told us system was kaput (my words). He informed us the parts were still under the Subzero warranty but we were still looking at about $900. Good money after bad? Took it into their shop to avoid the pickup/drop off fee. Everyone was great in the shop and frankly, very friendly and professional. I will try to remember to update this in 3 months or so to ensure it is working.\r Not sure where the negative comments are coming from - did not have the same experience. BTW - they have been in business for over 60 years so I have to assume they are doing something right. more

I have to agree with many of the negative comments on here and while i am not one to write a bad review or any reviews for that matter, i have to say this is a company you should definitely stay away from. The front office gal who answers the phone is rude. The service technicians seem pretty good but they will replace your parts, charge you for these parts and then simply return them to subzero for new parts as most of these parts are under warranty. I found this out ""after the fact"" and found out that many parts in subzero are covered up to ten years. Some are 1 year, some are 2 year, 5 year and 10 year. so, they will charge you for parts that they actually get for free. On top of that, they have literally replaced parts that didn't need replacement. I have had several issues with a few sub zeros in my home and each time i call them i get the same expensive bill and a crappy level of service. Please do not go through what i went through. these guys are terrible, just damn terrible. Avoid them like the plague. more

I have never placed a review for a service company but this front office is rude and difficult to work with. \r Set up an an AM window for a technician to look at our Sub Zero. Appointment was made a week ago. I get a call at 9:15 am saying that the technician can't be at our house until the afternoon. I told her I had stayed at home instead of going to work. I told her I couldn't wait in the afternoon as well. I said can I schedule for tomorrow in the morning and she says you can but there is no guarantee and that I could be pushed back to the afternoon again. i asked her what would she do if she were me? wait around all day for the possibility of getting my refrigerator looked at? Then I asked to speak with a manager and she said that the person was not in. After getting the further runaround, I told her I would schedule with another company.\r K&N needs to work out their customer service policies and then retrain their front office. more

Please be very careful.Have been using them for my Sub Zero ref. ( that also a good looking junk) for 15 years, assuming they were honest. A recent break down in the cooling system , estimate was $ 825 ,( we had to plead to take off the service call charges), Condenser coil was replaced fees paid and we were told GOOD TO GO. Freon leaked out rather quickly, cooling stopped. all the medications and lots of grocery discarded. Tech. came back and without touching the refg. announced he knew what the problem was, the old compressor was unable to keep up with the new coil, now he had to re build the entire system etc. Next day some one called from the office. Total rebuild charge 2500 dollars plus 325 dollars for new freon(never mind we paid 125 dollars worth of freon on first call). As we were good old customers, they will discount the previously paid 825 dollars and will have to pay the rest.\r We decided to get an other opinion as tech. was making misstatements as to what he told us before.The work done was by an an intern and freon was leaking at the welding point, as the coil can be welded only once. By an other appliance repair company the entire wok had to be redone,heat exchanger replaced , freezer timer replaced and the unit was completely fixed in all aspects for a total charge of 990 dollars. BTW there was nothing wrong with compressor. Also Sub Zero never returned our calls.If we complained we were told that the new unit is worth 10,000 dollars so the money is well spent fixing the old one ,GREAT.\r more

K&N provided outstanding service. My thanks to David, Mona, Tony and the team for quick reply and getting the job done right. I had a faulty ice-maker from sub-zero that would not make ice despite repeated attempts to repair. Sub-zero replaced the faulty unit with a new one. K&N did the communications, diagnosis and coordinated with Sub-zero completely. They did a great job with skill, courtesy and professionalism. I don't understand the negative reviews that were written here - K&N knows their stuff and if they can't fix it - it isn't fixable. more

Called bosch for recommendation to replace the seal to our front-loading washer and some water was backing up in the softener dispenser. We also requested to balance the dryer since they would be here already. They recommended K&N. A technician came out to fix the washer and balance the dryer. The dryer had been working all along and had even been used that morning. After the technician left the housekeeper tried to use the dryer and it would not come on. She called the technician to come back and see why it was not working, which he did. He looked it over and said that the control panel was not working and we would have to see how much one would cost. When I got home and heard this from my housekeeper I called the company to see what was going on as they were only supposed to replace the seal on the washer and balance the dryer. The receptionist was very rude and just read off what repairs we had requested they do. I told her that I know what the repairs are but now my dryer that had been working for the last 5 years and was just seen and balanced by their technician was not working. She became loud on the phone and then said that she would have the technician call me. He called and was unable to explain why it wasn't working and said he had only balanced the legs. So my husband called and spoke to the receptionist who was also rude to him and then he asked to speak to a supervisor. The supervisor/owner was not in until Monday. On Monday I called the technician and he said the control panel part was $357 and he thought the supervisor had already called my husband and was going to maybe discount the labor, but we would have to buy the part. We then found that the supervisor had already left a voice message to my husband that "he didn't like where this was going and was going to send our money back." So my husband calls him and they talk and he said he would order the part as we need our dryer fixed. The next day he calls my husband again and said he just read some notes from the receptionist that we were calling them cheaters and liars. This is an absolute obsurd and false statement. He then said he "didn't get a good feeling about all this and was sending our check back" and then hung up on my husband. They did send our money back. It also turns out they never did replace the seal in the washer as it had the same mold/mildew on it. The man just put a new wire around the old seal. Pitiful! This company is very unprofessional and I would never recommend them. We did call Sears and they finally repaired the dryer - which it turned out not be the control panel - so that was a wrong diagnosis also. more

I had them come back out to fix/adjust the door, but was still not like it was from the factory. He said it is the best I can do. Now I am getting an E124 error code which is the door close sensor. People forget when they call for service, they are paying a professional for the experience and knowledge to have it done correctly. Every one of K&Ns techs has at least 20 years experience and have been with K&N at least 10 years. This customer ELDU already knew she was paying $101 total for the service call (which covers fleet costs). Her review just shows how some people want things for free. There is one customer like this every single day. In the end, she was refunded $55, the entire labor amount, (not $30), and K&N still had to compensate our tech for his time, which was actually 2 trips. This is just the type of old-fashoined gratitude that Mr. Martin shows when he wants to make things right when they weren't wrong to begin with. Unethical, unreliable, crooks 1/4/2009

I purchased a brand new thermador pro grande range from factory builders. one of the coolong fans malfunctioned 3 days after arrival (10 days before Christmas). i called K&N that day to get warranty repair. scheduled me for the following monday but never called and never showed up. when i called them they said they cancelled my appointment! why? because factory builders never sent them proof of purchase. they never called and told me. scheduler is an absolute sociopath! what a lie!!! factory builders had documented all corresponence. they sent someone Christmas eve with the wrong parts and NO CLUE! still haven't heard from them. if you have warranty work, you're better of fixing it yourself. How much does it cost to change a light bulb? 12/30/2008

Misleading. Guess how much it costs to change a light bulb and lense in a dryer? Initially, they chartged me $177.87! It takes 3 minutes to change out these parts (almost the time to write the check).The parts cost $3.95 and $9.37 for a total of $13.32. Add in a surcharge of $6.00, tax $1.60,labor tax $11.97, labor $55.00, and the cost to drive to your home (downtown) $90.00. I was refunded $30.00 after arguing the absurd cost. more

Unreliable and fail to follow up on repair. 8/9/2007

Our Bosch kitchen hood broke, and K+N was recommended by Bosch for service. For the first visit, the technician checked the wrong appliance (everything is OK!) due to the fact that the dispatcher made wrong statement on the repair invoice, despite that i had faxed my instructions, and talked to the technician at the day of service. They initially charged us for the visit, but after complaining, we were able to obtain an additional visit after two long weeks. The technician came by and found that the motor was broken. Parts needed to be ordered. He charges us only this visit, which was fair, but he promised to send us a quote for repair. We heard nothing for an entire week, and i called to hear what is going on. The manager promised to call me the next day, but no response. I ended up ordering the parts and repaired it myself. I don't understand why they didn't get their act together. Bad service and unreliable. more


I've had the greatest experiance with K&N Serivce.From kind and friendly customer service reps to technicians.I've had other serivce company come out and just made me feel like they really didn't know what they were doing.With K&N they took the time to find my problem and explain to me what was wrong. more

Worst Customer Service 12/6/2006

I have had to call the K&N Service Center out for various appliance reparations. They are very rude and inconsiderate as if they are doing you the biggest favor by coming out to look at the appliances that YOU bought from THEIR store. In addition, if you do happen to choose them to service your appliance against your better judgment, make sure you call three times (atleast) to confirm the date and time of your appointment. Each time I have made an appointment, I have wasted the entire workday waiting for them to contact me with the time slot (which is a three hour slot) wherein they will decide to stop by and assess the problem. It's not worth their service charge, once you've spent an entire day waiting for them to come. I am truly disappointed in their customer service or rather lacktherof. Make sure you take the week off if you schedule them to come out cause no telling when they will decide to drop by and forget trying to ask the Service Center about confirming your appointment; you'll just be responded to abruptly with no further details other than the ones you could assume without having wasted more of your time on the call to their customer service department. more
