Jessica Franklin is an exceptional Master Stylist 10/9/2011

A good stylist can give you a great haircut, but an exceptional Master Stylist is something else. I could not be happier with Jessica and her haircuts. She has the most cheerful demeanor possible, which really can put you in a great mood - but her skill in producing amazing looks and styles is something I've not been able to find any where else. I have very thick Asian hair. I tried the razor cut thing at an SF Salon - nightmare, a perm and what I hoped was a stylish long haircut in Campbell (not bad but no one really noticed), an "Asian" hair boutique in Palo Alto (beauty was good, hair was a mess!), another trendy salon in San Jose, and was pretty much near giving up that I was going to wait for my last terrible cut to grow out (misery) and then I went in for a consult at Juut. Jessica just knows her stuff. Simply put. I've never gotten so many compliments for my hair. I've never been able to style my hair in so many ways! (so fun! - down and sleek, updos that are classy) As long as she takes care of my hair, I feel confident for months (the cuts last!) that I can be prepared for anything - interview with clients, special events, celebrations, dinners. That is what I could call a real pro. So yes, I LOVE LOVE LOVE her cuts, and enough to yammer on about it in so many words. :) more

Louise is AMAZING - FABULOUS cut and style - TOTALLY recommend 12/29/2008

I moved to the area from Los Angeles a few years ago and was paralyzed with fear with the idea of trying a new salon. I tried Juut b/c I love Aveda products and b/c the price was consistent with what I normally pay for a master-level stylist in NYC or LA (I figured if I paid the same, I would get about the same - not a miracle, but at least a little help). I was deeply surprised and pleased when Louise actually DID work miracles with my hair - she is hands down the BEST stylist I have ever had. My hair is extremely difficult to work with b/c it's curly and very fine, and I have TONS of it. Louise is such an amazing stylist that I would literally and happily pay her twice as much (plus, she's always been totally happy and willing to cut it to last a little longer between cuts - 4 to 6 months instead of 2-3). I recommend her to everyone - and ESPECIALLY to anyone with curly (read: nightmare) hair. I cannot tell you how many compliments I get - even my mother, who notoriously hates everything I've ever done to my hair, told me how great my hair lookes and asked what I've been doing differently. For the first time, my curly hair is a blessing instead of a curse. Louise is a GENIUS. Best of all, I don't have to stress about what I want - I can ask her to do what she thinks is best - and she does, and she's always right., even while she's sensitive to what I /do/ want (length, level of daring, etc.) No matter what, my hairstyle is always beautiful and fashion conscious. I cannot recommend her highly enough. And to those of you who have complained about the price, I understand it's pricey - but If you're willing to pay $150 for an outfit you'll wear a couple of times (or even a couple outfits you'll wear several times), I think it's well worth the investment to pay for a fabulous haircut you'll wear every day, rain or shine, for the next 3-6 months (or longer). Louise is a hair master - and she's also a really nice, funny, and warm person. Louise ROCKS! Pros: amazing style, friendly staff, wonderful products (but no product pushing) Cons: lighting is a little too low, ambience not as serene as would be expected, must book appts. a month in advance more

Negligent: fried my hair -- avoid colorists here. 5/24/2008

I have gone to Juut on University Ave three times for combination high/low-lights for my hair. The first time I went to Juut, the color faded out in literally a week. The hair colorist was not super-experienced and although I told her my color history, she didn't recommend a "fill-in" treatment. I went back to complain and the management-- to their credit --had a more experienced colorist do a correction with fill first (gratis, I gave a generous tip). The results were decent enough that I decided to come back 5 weeks later. The second time, the result was a little calico-cat-ish. That is, I had about 7 different colors of blonde, dark blonde and reddish in my hair (if you've had high-and-low-lights done, you probably know what I mean). I figured the colorist was just getting used to the way my hair responded and the next time would be better. The third time I went, she seemed to listen to how I wanted cool blonde tones -- not brassy, not calico. For one of Juut's supposedly top colorists ($$$) who had worked with my hair before, it should have been near-perfect. Unfortunately, she stuck me under the drier with foils on for WAAYYY too long. I have never been under a drier for more than 20-25 minutes with foils; she left me there for about 45 minutes. Another stylist asked if I was supposed to still be there and I said I felt like my colorist had forgotten me. Sure enough, the other stylist found my colorist and suddenly it was important to take the foils out right away. My hair was fried: totally dry and lighter than I had requested (though to her credit, in the right family of tones). She admitted as much when she offered a free conditioning treatment --didn't fix the damage. I didn't feel like I could go complain to management again since they would have thought I was psycho-picky. But I was really disappointed with the results and feel the colorists at Juut are negligent --or at least too busy or scattered to pay attention to their work. more

They just don't listen! 2/23/2008

The cutter simply would not listen to what I wanted. I said repreatedly--repreatedly--that I do not like my hair short. Keep the style the same and just take off a half inch. No, she took off a good inch and a half. I will NEVER go back. It's my ego that they should attend to, not their's. Pros: Nearby Cons: not listening to customer. more

best waxing around 8/10/2007

worth all the money; julice is professional, easy going and soooo talented! i recommend all the way, my brows have never looked better. 3 girls have worked on my brows there, and all of them are great (julice is just my favorite). more

Good and bad 7/23/2006

I had a horrible haircut there after my stylist who used to work there moved to a different salon. The stylist cut my hair about an inch shorter than I wanted (I brought in pictures and showed her exactly where I wanted it to on my shoulder) and didn't even dry my hair! For $70 I expected more. But I LOVE the waxing there- it's amazing! Holly is the best ever- she takes her time and makes you feel immediately relaxed. It's hands down the best I've ever had. Pros: Great waxing Cons: Hairstylists more

Exeptional Experience 11/4/2005

I have never in my life had such an amazing manicure as I did from Vanessa at Juut. She was maticulous, fairly inexpensive, and it lasted over 3 weeks! The staff was all very friendly and professional, they have made me a client for life. more

Amazing 11/4/2005

The staff and service were absolutely amazing. I was impressed right from the moment I called in to book an appointment. The lady I spoke with was able to help me choose the best stylist for me and was able to answer all of my questions. After my service I looked in the mirror and the only thing I could think of was 'WOW!' I have received so many compliments since then as well. What an amazing, knowledgeable, talented group. Everyone was so helpful and friendly. I would recommend this salon to everyone! more

BEST of Palo Alto-worth every penny... 9/22/2005

Palo Alto is a most idyllic place, beautiful weather, beautiful, spoiled wives (plastic surgery included), and thank god, a beautifully staffed salon, with hearts that are willing to make sure you are as comfortable as you can be.The experience at Juut Salonspa ... I was able to let down my guard and turn my beauty needs over to the hands of true professionals. I left feeling more beautiful on the inside than I did on the outside!!! (the outside was pretty fabulous, btw). The staff at Juut were awesome! After reading the other reviews on this site, the only conclusion that I can come to is the reviewers had little or no self esteem, because the staff at this salon does! They are all confident and KNOW what they are doing! It's nice to be able to give it up for the best on the peninsula! Pros: awesome cut, awesome waxing, awesome servive more
