Breakfast worth the wait 9/5/2006

My friend and I went to Julia's this weekend. Saw the crowd and had to check it out. We were getting pretty hungry during the 20 minute wait, but grabbed a latte next door at their bakery to hold off starvation. It was so worth it. The server was friendly, funny and efficient. The food was great and it was a good thing we were hungry the pancakes and omelettes were huge. A great people watching place.\r We'll be back...probably next weekend. more

best food and atmosphere 8/21/2006

We are new to the wallingford neighborhood and love all the little shops and restaurants. a neighbor recommended julia's and we tried it out on a recent weekend. we got there early, so the line was only a few minutes long. we were seated by the window and checked out this little busy restaurant. our coffe came promptly and was strong, the food arrived in less than 15 minutes, everything was very tasty, the kids loved their smily-faced pancakes. service was friendly and fast as well. we will be back and try it for lunch next time. Pros: easy parking, easy to find, friendly more

Overrated 5/14/2006

The salad reeked of vinegar, the entree had no flavor except for potatoes, the staff ignored us and the ambiance was screaming children. more

bets coffeecake 3/15/2006

We have been to Julia's many times for lunch and dinner, but on a recent sunday we went for breakfast. We started our meal with a cup of coffee and a coffeecake, while we waited for the rest of our breakfast. This coffeecake was absolutley wonderful, better than my moms old recipe. The rest of our breakfast was delicious as well, and great friendly service. On the way out we stopped by Julia's bakery, which is right next to the restaurant and took some of the coffeecake home for the next day. We also found some great vegan goodies and loaded up on them. Pros: bakery next door, reasonable prices, easy parking more

excellent lunch 8/11/2005

took my office staff here and we had a wonderful time. everyone loved their lunch. i ate a seafood salad which is just what i needed on a hot day in august, sevice was friendly, fast and very helpful. we will be back for another office lunch. Pros: very reasonable price, great menu selection, friendly staff more

Not as good as I expected 7/16/2005

I finally visited this highly-recommended restaurant and was very disappointed. The food was undercooked and cold, the coffee stale, and the service slow. I'm hoping I hit it on a bad day, but I don't think I'll go again to find out. more

mad props! 7/1/2005

complements to the chef! this is one of the best places we've eaten in FOREVER! the wine was great, the homemade bread came with roasted garlic and whipped butter, the portabella salad is to die for as well as the chicken marsala. everything was bursting with fresh flavor. the service was very friendly and efficient without being bothersome. this place is AWESOME. Pros: delicious Cons: non more

Worth the Wait! 6/1/2005

Although on the weekends you may have to wait a few minutes-it's woth it! breakfast-whole wheat blueberry granola pancakes,OUTRAGEOUS breakfast burritos, awesomes sandwhiches and dinner entrees. Very kid friendly. Wonderful staff. Pros: fish and chips, burgers Cons: parking more

best breakfast 5/29/2005

A recent visit to this neighborhood joint was the perfect weekend start. We got served great coffee within seconds of beeing seated, our kids started with a hot coco topped with whipped cream, crayons and paper. Our breakfast was delicious, we espically enjoyed the omelet, grilled potatoes and the great variaty of pancakes. Our service was fast and friendly. And the wait for a table was worth the time. We'll be back. Pros: reasonable prices, good menu selection more

great burgers 5/19/2005

A coworker took me here for lunch last week. I ordered a hamburger and was surprised about the excellent quality of meat and the generous portion. Turns out after asking our waiter that this restaurant uses Misty Iles beef for their burgers. It is a local farm on Vashon Island that raises hormonfree beef. (for all you meat-lovers) Service was friendly and quick, just what you need in your lunch break. Thank you, and we'll be back. Pros: easy parking, close to my work more

mom loved it 5/11/2005

i decided to take my mon to julia's for mother's day. We had to wait, but were offered a coffee in the bakery while waiting. Our waitress was cheerful and friendly. My mom got a red carnation and a gift certificate from her. Mom loved the attention! Our breakfast was delicious, mom had the quiche and i ordered an omelet. Even so the place was packed our sevice was great and very attentive. We will definatly be back. more

On the decline 4/16/2005

I've eaten at Julia's for years, and usually found the food hearty, healthy and satisfying. But my last few brunches there have been poorly presented, lackluster, and disappointing. For example: a cold cinnamon roll with butter on top and rock-hard frosting? A shrimp scramble with no shrimp? An omlette with no taste? Has something changed at Julia's? Because it's just not as good as it used to be. more

Disappointed 1/14/2005

My husband and I went there for dinner. I had the linguine and shrimp. The pasta was so overdone it was like eating a mouthful of mush...i simply couldn't get it down. I tried to discreetly ask the waiter if this was the expected texture for this dish. He loudly and I mean loudly asked me if I wanted him to redo it. I was a tad embarrassed now that the all the tables around me were part of the discussion and backed down. He also informed me it was fresh homemade pasta. I happen to know that this doesn't equate to mush but overcooking. The plate was not worth the money and the quality was terrible. I took it home but will contact management today since 23 years in the business prevents me from just letting this go. more

will be back 12/28/2004

My husband and our 2 kids tried out Julia's for breakfast last weekend. The staff was very friendly and helpful and our breakfast was delicious. I had their Frensh toast and my husband a big omelet with fresh fillings and a big cinnamon roll. Everything was perfect. I just saw that Julia's was nominated on aol for best breakfast, i'll be voting for them. Thank you and we'll be back. more

good food on the second try 12/8/2004

the food is awesome but it takes two tries. HOWEVER, the service is terrible. out server was very rushed and not very helpful. when our food arrived, my blueberry pancakes were awesome but I soon realized that they were also VERY undercooked and runny. when I tried to get our server's attention, she dropped off our check and told us to have a great day. I had to follow her and tell her that my food wasn't fully cooked. She did have some more pancakes made for me, which were equally delicious. but afterwards she seemed to disappear and we couldn't find her to get our new bill!! Pros: great food, lots of menu choices Cons: , small noisy tables more

Soy Butter? 11/9/2004

While I was unaware of Julia's more health friendly menu, I was not overjoyed with soy butter and flavorless bread. I had the fish and chips which were good, but I would necessarily go back again. Many if the menu items were interesting to me, but wanted without soy which could not be done. more

well done 2/24/2003

these folks really know how to dish up some great food at a good value. we are new in town and this place was recommended by a friend. We visited last Sunday with our two teenage boys. The place was busy, but our wait was shortened by a great cup of coffee we were offered in the little bakery. Service, breakfast and the busy atmosphere is just what we needed to wake us up. Pros: wonderful service, great value, we'll be back more

Highly recommended 7/25/2002

After trying their Broadway location which we loved, we went here for Breakfast over the weekend. We were not dissapointed the food and service were great. We love their healthy choices and the fact that all their baked goods are made right in house. It was busy but we bought a muffin and coffee in the bakery while we were waiting, and the wait didn't seem long at all. We will be back! Pros: good value, great service, Healthy more
