23 Person Bridal Party 11/4/2005

You guys did an outstanding job and it was far better than I had hoped it would be. Everything from the hair updos to the wonderful food spread to the excellent scheduling and management by YOU was perfect. You made our day so much more fun, relaxing and complete! We really appreciate it more than we can even express in words. Pros: Management, Service, Atmosphere more

Never go back 10/4/2005

I bought my girlfriend a spa package here for her bday as a supprise. She was so upset when she came home because the staff was rude, she was rushed through her services and at the end of the day she would have assumed not to even gone. She refuses to ever go back. Cons: bad part of town, rude staff, parking more

User review by nutmeg59 9/10/2005

I purchased a Joie de Vie promotional package in May for myself, my daughters, and a friend; I've had a WONDERFUL experience; my first visit was for a haircut. Heather's expertise was well appreciated; she did not pressure, but made thoughtful recommendations which I followed; I have highlighted hair for the first time in my 46 years and LOVE it! I've had nothing but compliments, but even I can see the difference, and after all, I AM worth it. The other visits included have been great too! The massage was tailored to my needs, the pedicure was fast, easy, and fun. I highly recommend taking care of yourself, and Joie de Vie is a terrific way to take care of part of that. more

A Little Disappointed 9/5/2005

I rec'd a day of beauty as a gift. I get my hair cut there and love my stylist (who has since switched salons). The massage and facial were great, but the mani and pedi were vey disappointing. The staff was unorganized and couldn't find things, lights weren't working, my cuticles were not clipped and the polish job was mediocre. Make-up application was OK, but she seemed kind of rushed. As I mentioned, they do have some great hairstylists. And the staff is really nice, but I expected more from a high end salon. more

great experience 8/21/2005

Great pedicure! My mom was in from Florida and we wanted a nice place to get a pedi. loved the atmosphere, the nail techs were great. loved the decorations. will go to again! thanks more

And all my friends laughed!!! 8/8/2005

What a bad experience. In Austin & really needed a mani.Looked up spas, found Joie De Vie.Sounded great, booked an appt.Waited for 10 min before they started. When I called I said I wanted french, after soaking I was told there was no one there that could do that.It didn't include a cuticle trim!I winced at the sight as each stroke of polish was layed. How could somebody be this bad?Was she blind?I wanted to take the bottle & do it myself. She completely missed the sides of my nails, messed up 4 nails & had to do them over. The polish was inconsistent from finger to finger. My 6 yr old niece could have done better.I suggest that if you need a mani when in Austin & this is the only place.Drop by the drugstore buy polish & rent a monkey to do the job,it'll still be better than the mani I got. Cons: unprofessional, worst ever, scary!!! more

Worth the Trip! 7/29/2005

I came into the salon for my bachelorette party and we were treated like queens!! Everyone who works there is obviously highly trained and loves what they do. Everyone was so nice and many of us decided to get haircuts, as well. They fit us in right away and I liked my hair so much that I travel in from HOUSTON to have Melody cut my hair. Two other people in my bridal party also went back and, from what I have seen, all of their stylists and salon services are top notch! I am thinking about taking some friends there for my birthday, too. I loved it!!! more

Appotinment always wrong 7/22/2005

I gave this new place a try more than once for my spa and hair needs. All three times I went in my appointment were either missbooked or missing alltogether. The staff is not experience and management knows nothing about customer service. Needless to say I will never go back and I wll not reccomend this place to anyone ever. Cons: no parking, bad part of downtown, appointment accuracy more

I was there recently for a clay wrap which came recommended. What a treat! The staff was gentle and very well trained. It was invigorating and my body felt totally relaxed. My skin was cleansed and I walked out with a feeling of confidence and ready to hit the town! What a treat for anyone who wants pure pampering. I would love to go back again. The staff helped make it such a fun experience for me as well more

Bachelorette Party 4/10/2005

I love this place!! I hosted a bachelorette party for 10 ladies that included manicures at Joie de Vie. As soon as we arrived at the salon the staff was so friendly and promptly made sure we were all comfortable and provided mimosas and fruit in the cafe while we waited. Basically, they let me make myself at home in their kitchen which made it so cozy. In fact, three of the ladies had their hair cut and styled by Melody (she's fabulous!) while we waited. All three were thrilled with their hair!! I couldn't believe that the salon was able to accomodate all of us, but we were very comfortable and chatted with ease. I highly recommend anyone to have a party at Joie de Vie. All the ladies were very impressed with their professionalism and hospitality. They made a potentially stressful time so easy and relaxing for all!! Pros: Wonderful Location, Professional, Friendly more

From A Concierge Standpoint... 3/28/2005

Since thier opening I have sent many of my hotel's guests to these lovely people as well as having experienced their servicesmyself. I have never heard one word of complaint or sour mood after returning from Joie De Vie. The staff is extremely knowledgeable and very kind. They are most definately the spa of choice for the entire hotel, not just myself or my department. They have been nothing but to everyone we have sent their way. This concierge definately recomends Joie De Vie. Pros: Downtown, Knowledgeable, Friendly more

Joie de Vie Take me Away 3/4/2005

Today I decided to treat myself to a de-stressing afternoon. I searched in Citysearch and Joie de Vie popped up as leading in voting for Best Spa of 2005. I walked in and was greeted warmly and felt as if I was a regular within 5 minutes. Kelly my massage therapist greated me with a wonderful smile. We passed a very inviting wireless cafe, as Kelly led me downstairs to the massage area (the quite zone), each step seem to begin a de-stressing process, leaving the hustle and bustle of my day behind. The massage room was fabulous and relaxing (de-stressed even more). Then I was treated to the best massage I have ever had, and felt as if Joie de Vie had taken me away!!! I highly recommend Joie de Vie..... An hour experience that can make you feel like you had a vacation...Take me away Joie de Vie Pros: Wireless Cafe, Atmosphere, Service more

Joie De Vie has the warmest and most familial staff you could find in any salon anywhere. They combine the concern for their clients with a friendly, relaxed, and sometimes grooving atmosphere in which any newcomer (or long time client) can definitely enjoy. And the hair department is always rockin'- all of the stylists are super friendly to each other's clients and even more appreciated to each other. I love coming here! more

Beautiful and inviting atmosphere 2/17/2005

I received the massage/salt scrub from Lisa Talev. The treatment was wonderful, relaxing, and more affordable/welcoming than compared to other day spas. I definitely recommend Joie de Vie Salon. Pros: Inexpensive, Convenient location, Great Atmosphere more

Love a spa day! 2/17/2005

Joie de Vie salon and spa is a blissful experience. My mother and I had a spa day while in Austin at Joie de Vie and were both equally impressed. The staff (Julie (aesthetician), Lisa (massage therapist), Abel (hair), and Jennifer (make-up) were professional and personable. The spa packages we purchased were worth every penny. FYI...The salon is located near many of the downtown hotels and easy to find. I will definately be going back! Pros: atmosphere, staff, professionalism Cons: na, na, na more
