Great food and service. I would recommend this place to everyone, especially if you're in the mood for Italian Food. We ordered the tomato, basil brushetta for an appetizer and...

My favorite thing about this restaurant are the framed and autographed pictures that line all of the walls and trying to figure out if any of the autographs are real. The food is...

Joe Mama's Italian Deluxe is Multo Bueno 4/14/2006

I live near Joe Mama's and it is a wonderful restaurant! During the day it is a respectable Italian restaurant where you can go for a business lunch or date. During the evening it is a great eatery for college students. During the hour from 11 PM to midnight, the sandwiches and pastas are half-off. This is a college students dream to have delicious, inexpensive food for late-night munchies. This is as versatile, delicius restaurant! more

Italian Dinner 4/1/2006

This is a cozy this Italian dinner. The parking is a bit difficult as it is located on Forbes Avenue, not impossible I have always found a spot. They have all these pictures on the wall. The atmosphere is great. The food I did find to be good. There is also a up stairs to this restaurant. The service was good. The prices were about average for this type of restaurant. more

Joe Mama's 3/28/2006

My favorite thing about this restaurant are the framed and autographed pictures that line all of the walls and trying to figure out if any of the autographs are real. The food is ok. My meals have never been bad, but they have never been anything special. The food is just average. There are so many other wonderful Italian restaurants in the area, that it doesn't make sense to eat here and have average food. Plus, parking is difficult. more

Joe mamas food 3/22/2006

I went to Joe Mamas when Fuel and Fuddle were full in Oakland. I went there and the food was like a typical fast joint. The atmosphere is made to look like you are in an old worldly Italian restaurant. The food was good but the service was ok. The food was expensive though defiantly not worth what dinner cost. If you are looking for a place to take some college friends and have a few beers this is your place. I would shy away for dinner due to the prices. more

Joe Mama's isn't Italian, but it's good. 11/13/2005

Joe Mama's recently changed their menu. I dislike the new menu (since they took away my favorite Penne with Chicken Marsala and Cream), but that is neither here nor there. They offer a plethora of traditional and not-so-traditional italian dishes, from 1/2lb meatball subs to 1/2lb meatball pasta. Seriously, though. Their pasta is unique and sometimes good, the sandwhiches are good but overpriced. The desserts are (reportedly) decent, and the tiramisu is supposedly outstanding. My favorite part of Joe Mama's is the calamari and the ice tea. Service: 3/5 Food Quality: 4/5 Value: 2/5 Overall: 3/5 (not an average) more

good food 9/21/2005

Joe Mamas is a very nice American Italian restaurant. The food is pretty good and the prices aren’t bad. They serve the traditional Italian foods and even have a few more real Italian foods then a place like the Olive Garden. They also have a very interesting design; it is worth going there at least once. more

Good food...but a little 9/2/2005

overpriced if you ask me. I love the food, however I just think it is a little expensive. The place is really cute and they really do a nice job with a story line and theme to the restaurant. Drinks are good, and I will give them that the do have some of the best house dressing for the salad that I have ever had. I always get the Marcella cream sauce dish....it is simply divine. I have never had the dessert because I am always full. And on Monday nights they have all you can eat pasta....but that isn't such a good idea - especially if you are dieting! more

OK Italian food in Oakland 8/31/2005

Joe Mama's sits in the heart of Oakland. I ate there numerous times in my college days at Pitt. If you are looking for non-authentic Italian cuisine in a convenient location, this is a great pick. Their service has always been good in my experience with friendly and energetic wait staff. Parking is a challenge here as it is on street metered parking. Decent atmosphere and friendly staff but poor Italian food. more

Decent Italian food in Oakland 8/10/2005

I've eaten at Joe Mama's about half a dozen times and have had mixed experiences. I've had some great food there but have also had some awful service. Parking is a pain so I wouldn't recommend driving there, especially when school is in session at Pitt. Also, the name is very irritating--how do you suggest to people you don't know very well, I think we should go to Joe Mama's for dinner tonight? more
