Gets Worse Every Year 8/11/2010

This is not a deli. It's a pretend deli. The menu is way too large to make a quality product. The service can be really bad. Late night you can forget about it. I would avoid this place. Even if you have a sick relative at Cedar's, walk the block to the Beverly Center where they have a sufficient food court and if you walk one more block there are several decent restaurants on La Cienega. The Grand Luxe Cafe is one of them and puts this place to shame. The Jerry's at the beach is a little better, but I would just avoid this one. Greasy tables included. more

worst service ever by mary !!! 1/11/2009

Definetly not what i expected. when my waitress was taking my order, i felt rushed i wasnt even finished ordering when my waitress walked away from me. I ordered a chicken quesadilla. when i got my meal it seamed as if i ordered a chicken soup, i think the bus boy cooked it. I asked my waitress if i can get another one. It was also horrible, and over priced. If their gona charge that much they should at least use chicken breast. The only good thing i can say about jerry's is they have a good desert menu. Pros: desert menu Cons: horrible service more

Pretty Bad - Never going back 1/18/2008

Greek salad was poor at best. Just mixed greens, no romaine, no lemon, cheap oil and vinegar, white onion (not red onioin), no bell pepper, no pepperocini, no cucumber, no chopped parsley, and bad feta. Other than that, it was a good greek salad. Pros: I did not die Cons: Bad food - for a restaurant, that's about it. more

Chicken and rice soup is AMAZING! 10/29/2007

I love this place. Don't expect good service, yeah it's pricey but the soup is killer and a few other items. Any time I have a cold I come here and feel much better after. Pros: easy valet, soup Cons: slow service more

Furniture ads inside the menu! Tacky! 6/15/2007

Not only is a mediocre Club Sandwich $15.75, there are about 5 full page local ads inside the menu. It made me laugh. That's one of the stingiest, tackiest things I've ever seen. Lose 'em Jerry. This is merely a deli, but with upscale prices. The servers aren't very attentive or happy either. There are plenty of other restaurants blocks away with better food, service, prices and ambiance. Wouldn't you be embarrassed to take a date to a restaurant that had full page auto ads on page 3 next to the dinner specials? Then to get stuck with a $60 sandwich tab for two? Who wants that? Pros: Nice part of town Cons: Tacky & Expensive more

Service? WHAT SERVICE? AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!! 5/31/2007

I eat out a lot and more often than not I am not that critical of any Pros: What pros? Are you kidding me? Cons: Service? WHAT SERVICE??? more

what a rip off 5/10/2007

16.50 for an overpriced pastrami sandwich????you have got to be kidding me. my takeout menu went from 9.65 to 16.50 for a mediocre at best sandwich. Will never ever get sucked into that trap again. more

Worst food ever! 10/28/2006

You know this place is going to be terrible when you open up the menu. How can you have a thousand items on the menu and make anything taste decent?! This place is just an over-hyped Denny's. Actually, I'd prefer Denny's... Skip this place and just go to an all-night taco stand. Definitely the worst food I've ever had in L.A. Pros: Nothing Cons: Everything more

Not bad at all! 8/5/2006

Wow, I can't believe the vitriol in these reviews! We live in the neighborhood, and eat there fairly regularly. It's not amazingly great, but it's always satisfying, and we've never left unhappy. The potato pancakes are terrific, as is the mushroom barley soup, the matzo ball soup, and the chopped liver. The prices are on the high side, but the soup and half-sandwich deal is a bargain, and you get plenty to eat. The service is usually friendly and quick. No need to avoid it at all, and it's a pleasant place to be with people you like. Pros: Good food, wide variety Cons: A bit pricey. more

take all these reviews into account 10/10/2005

Notice that almost everyone has had a bad experience here. For some reason Jerry's has gained noteriety as a good place to go, and even attracts the likes of Paris Hilton (my brother saw her there once). I've never understood the attraction. I've tried it a few times (mostly for a late night snack) and been disappointed every time. The food is mediocre and the service isn't very good either. Whichever location you're at, there's probably something else 10 times better for half the price no more than a few blocks away. Pros: trendy atmosphere Cons: mediocre food, mediocre service, not a good value more

My 2 cents 5/21/2005

In short, STAY AWAY. Went there w/ family because they have a variety of food. There were 3 other parties in the dining room and about 5 waiters. Nonetheless, our waitress managed to completely ignore us, forgetting our food (we had a party of 9) and never, repeat, NEVER filling our water glasses. Finally called the manager over to complain, who apologized and gave us free dessert. We never saw our waitress the rest of the night (where did she go??). By far the biggest waste of money on food in my life. Cons: rude, rude, rude more

Conscientious Diners Avoid 12/30/2002

If you visit Jerry's Deli -- be sure you do so in the daylight hours. Otherwise, like a magnet to all that is distasteful, rude and surly, Jerry's Deli draws the worst of Los Angeles residents to its dining rooms after hours. Unless you like sharing eating space with this heap, you'll want to avoid Jerry's at all costs. Watching another customer proceed to heckle her waitress with cries of ""Get over here, #$%^&"" and not be thrown out instantly by managment proved that the company is willing to do little to encourage a civil clientele and a pleasant dining experience for all of its customers. If you want a good deli at late night hours -- pass on Jerry's and pick up the phone book. more

Still Closed!! 12/14/2002

Over-rated- Closed during the week at the early am. Was extremely disappointed when I saw their original Valley location STILL closed after the fire. more

JFD 12/11/2002

Good place to take out of towners or picky eaters. Wide variety has somthing for everyone. The deli makes perfect sandwiches, huge and fairly inexpensive. Not a fancy affair, but good for a quick lunch or dinner. more

Stay Away! 10/5/2002

This place is rediculously bad. Don't make the same mistake I made. WAY overpriced. Worst service I've ever seen, and rude to top it off. Oh yeah - the food is about the worst ive ever had. Pros: Location, Menu options, open late Cons: price, service, quality more

So outrageously bad, I had to write... 9/10/2002

I am inspired to write most of my restaurant reviews out of love, but this one is motivated by pure spite. I *hate* Jerry's Famous Deli. I am outraged (beyond all reason really) by the fact that they serve bad food at outrageous prices and have plastic out-of-work actors bring it to you when and if they're not too busy scanning the rest of the dining room hoping to spot a ""celeb"" to wait on. Ugh! Sickening... As I said before, I *hate* Jerry's Famous Deli. Their food really is BAD and SO EXPENSIVE. If you want to eat at a GREAT deli, make the trek on over to Brent's in the Valley. Cons: Expensive, Bad Food, Bad Service more

overpriced, ridiculous portions 9/3/2002
