The first 2 minutes already seemed troublesome. The front desk did not greet us as if we were just shopping. Only after we asked for a table did the waitress told us to wait for 10 minutes to be seated.\r \r After we were seated, we found the menu rather bland and boring. Nevertheless we ordered one tofu dish, one noodle and an appetizer (leek turnover). The noodle came within 10 minutes.\r \r But after I finished the noodle, my partner's dish was not served, not to mention the appetizer.\r \r 30 minutes later, we asked again. The waitress assured us that the dish was prepared and about to be served. That was a lie, as we saw dishes were brought out to other tables.\r \r Another 5 minutes later, we asked whether we could at least have our appetizer. Then the waitress said the hot steam buns would be out in a minute. Wait, we did not even order that!\r \r After that, we were too angry to protest. We left a 20 dollar bill on the table. (The noodle costs only 6 dollars. It would cover everything we had ordered.) We walked out of the door and told the waitress this was unacceptably slow.\r \r Guess what? They are not slow after all. 1 minute later, one waiter ran outside after us and urged us to go back to pay our meal. We shouldn't have had to pay the service or food we did not consume, but we did leave a 20-dollar bill on the table. The greediness and the terrible service left us speechless.\r \r For anyone who wants authentic Chinese food, try Royal Sichuan, which is in the same plaza. The food is great and the service always satisfying. more

I have been going to Jeng Chi for almost 10 years now. The service is eh but the food makes up for it. The place is always packed and I have never ordered anything I didn't like. This is not a Dim Sum restaruant. That is why the other review was bad. This is the best food traditional food in town! Pros: The DUMPLINGS! Cons: Service more

Avoid everything but the dumplings 8/20/2007

I came here thinking I was going to have the traditional dim sum considering it was the audience winnder for the best dim sum in dallas. FYI: dim sum is not served here!! It's just known for dumplings and everything else we ordered was mediocre, if not bad chinese food. I'm Asian, so I like eating authentic Asian food, and the dumplings are not wonderful or fantastic. They were ok!!! Note: this is not your traditional dim sum place Pros: dumplings okay Cons: service bad & not enough variety of dim sum.misleading! more

Dumplings Galore 10/25/2006

Located in the Chinatown strip mall off of Greenville Ave in Richardson, Jeng Chi is an extremely popular, no frills spot due to its low prices and quick service. Though the menu offers a diverse selection of traditional Chinese cuisine (and Ive had several notable Szechuan style dishes here), usually people order dumplings. On the last visit, We decided on a steamer of little juicy buns (xiaolongbao), potstickers (pan fried dumplings), boiled chicken and zucchini dumplings, green onion pancakes, and noodles topped with ground pork sauce (zha jiang mian). Pros: Cheap more
